  • Why does he wave his hand over the fretboard when he's bending the pitch on a harmonic?

  • @andSometimesY

You don't really control what you're doing while playing..

  • @andSometimesY jedi mind trick

  • that reverb is amazing

  • @Babyface6200 I don't believe he is using reverb. Delay only

  • no need to go fast if you can play like this

  • august rush-!! feliing

  • @265008888 lol its probably more like ear ecstasy

  • A tone too die for.

  • His tone is perfect

  • 2:17 is where the real "Betcha can't play this begins and 3:53 is where it ends.

  • @072748023 how do you remember your screenname

  • Eric Johnson style

  • @jlucasqueiroz No, Andy Timmon's style!

  • I wont ruin the 666 upthumbs

  • @maledrops i just did. on purpose. after reading your comment

  • Fail

  • at 0:59 he said: "tap the 12 fret" but he tap the 20 fret O.o

  • @AndyRhoadsVai yeah, tap 12 frets above where you're fretting with your left hand.

  • @GibsonTick Thanks a lot man, I'm italian and i Don't understand english very well ;)

  • @AndyRhoadsVai I thought you mighta missed that! Glad to help... Andy is such a great player!

  • @GibsonTick Yes man, I love andy too!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @AndyRhoadsVai he said tap 12 frets above what you are playing.. so if you play the 8th fret, then yeah you tap the 20th fret

  • @eddieisfiction thanks man, i am italian and I don't undertand english very well ;)

  • i love these "betcha" comments, hilarious

  • chils.. i swear this guy is so underrated.. he is amazing

  • This sounds like what you would get if you crossed Satch with Buckethead o.o

  • Ibanez strat.Now that's just wrong!

  • @BIGGREENDA well bro, look at the fender jim root telecaster and you'll see there are no boundaries, also fender has fender pups, and this ibanez has dimarzio, so in the end is just your decision

  • ELECTRIC GYPSY!!! <3 W00T

  • very original, me likey

  • no such thing as an ugly ibanez

  • I can now say that I have seen an ugly Ibanez guitar....I am not happy.

    But the playing is awesome

  • 3:45 reminds me of soothsayer by Buckethead

  • @EntropyGamer holy shit, that's kinda true actually haha

  • What type of guitar is that? If I may know.

  • Can anyone tell me how he gets this sound at 2:17 ? I know its probably an overdrive pedal and what a chorus maybe or something? please can someone message me with the answer or write back here, i will be really thankful

  • @Robbbeeerrrttt yo bro, what he is doing is using a distortion pedal on a clean channel (the BB preamp), and to get that dirty sound he is playing the notes while hitting the open string at the same time above the note. so for the first lick its 11th fret on the G string and open D string together, then 9th fret G open D string, then 7th fret G string open D string, etc. the open strings give a fuller effect to the lick

  • @RockNRoller294 yo you know any youtube videos that go into that hendrix style rhythm, As in a lesson? I've checked out one or two but they're pretty basic. Guess its all in the practice :( Cheers

  • @265008888 LoL no! its called: Ear-X-Tacy

  • I saw him playing live and it was amazing. We were just 400 people watching him and he was smilling the entire concert.

  • Far from original. More like, Betcha cant improvise. And most of us can

  • @xPurpleDrinkx9001 I think you should start your own column and call it "betcha can't be a bigger douchebag tahn xPurpleDrinkx9001

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 I may bag douchely at times. But at least i dont resort to name calling a split second after my guitar idol is bashed without trying to reason.

  • @xPurpleDrinkx9001" at least I don't resort to name calling" awww did I huwt yow feewings :'( :P get a life and stop suckling yo mammas teet

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 Hi, learn to comprehend. Calling you out on name calling =/= i was offended. Now my feelings are hurt because its idiots like you who cause me to loose faith in the human race. A mom joke? People tell me you're still a child and i may regain my faith

  • @xPurpleDrinkx9001 I think you should start your own column and call it "betcha can't be a bigger douchebag thann xPurpleDrinkx9001

  • @xPurpleDrinkx9001 Are you saying that Andy Timmons can't improvise?

  • really an ear x-tacy

  • He really is the ''King of Tone''!

  • Andy does have more feeling than 99.99% of the so-called "guitar heroes".

  • THE most awsome lick i've ever EVER heard it's sooo cool... I will play this even if i take a year to do so...

    Thumbs up!

  • I love his phantom pickup switch at 3:39. XD

  • 02:15 Best version of this song.. too bad he didn't finish it.

  • @MarcoPolansky I could not agree with you more. I love the tone so much!!!! I really wish he would have played the whole thing. I swear sometimes I just play that one part over and over again just to listen him play it. It makes me so happy...haha

  • i love the mindless shredding u get death metal guysdoing in this column, its insane. But this was really insightful and original and sounded really really awesome

  • Andy Timmons plays so good, and his melodies are great, but in my opinion that lick doesn't fits in with the rest of the song.

  • Trust Mr Timmons to do something TASTEFUL!

  • @MrFrothinger That's not necessarily the idea of these videos though. In fact if he was following the ideas these videos promote, this is not a smart choice of lick.

  • @mrnobodyouknow - good point. Even I can play this. He does another one that's more hardcore though...

  • @MrFrothinger Yes, I noticed after watching.

  • Hey, i CAN play this:D Check out my cover of electric gypsy on my channel:D Thanks!:)

  • for me he´s the best guitar player of this " becha cant play this". he jumps out because, he plays something go, not fast and shitty.

  • @amosschorr93 lol Yngwies really good at writing the same song over and over

  • Amazing Electric Gypsy Lesson! ;D;D

  • Holy shit, I'm in love! (with that tune)

  • to bad these chords are the same from canon in d =P

  • @Progeeks1 Its the 4-chord axis dude. Every single famous pop-song is made of that chord-cycle, haha. Check out axis of awesome!

  • @amosschorr93 well why not ? =) they just don't want to play this... :p it's just the difference between kinds of music...

  • the reason why faster is better.. is because.. players that can play 20 notes per second.. can also play this.. .. .. ..so that's why all the betcha cant play this are mostly fast.. it's called that way for a reason .. but this guys playing nicely =) but i think there is a difference between playing Beautiful like this guy.. and playing Awesome...so i can't really compare those two..

  • Is that ibanez a longer scale or am i just having a brain fart?

  • Finally not just a random note orgy !

  • I can play this. :)

  • saw him yesterday, got blown away..

  • Woah. A Betcha cant play this that doesnt throw a shit storm of notes at you.

  • Electric Gypsy :)

  • FUCKING AWEOSOME this is my favorite betcha can't play this

  • What a great vid ! Here is a guy who is a brilliant player, loves what he does and enjoys sharing his technique with others. This, is a real guitar hero! Great job Andy!!

  • MUST HAVE TABS!

  • @TrollerHub there is good tast!!!

  • @TrollerHub That's the thing, many players think that speed is everything. It's not.

  • @TrollerHub atleast its musical

  • who is betcha?

  • @NGZ6 xDDD

  • @NGZ6 LOL

  • @NGZ6 ahaha dude ı laughed loud :D:D

  • @NGZ6 betcha is me :(

  • @NGZ6 someone who can't play this xD

  • this guy has the x-factor

  • should be called betcha can't compose this

  • It's not possible that a man can be this good

  • Electric Gypsy =] love that song!

  • i wish satriani would do a bcpt

  • just curius, why does he prefer ibanez in a srat model when he can absolutely sound good in a fender srat?,no offense on ibanez users.=)

  • @1990Olloccin Ibanez has a different neck than strat. Different woods as well, although I guess from the sound that this should be an alder body like standard strats. Anyway, they're different instruments, from companies with different filosophies.

  • @pacingBlue yeah alder is the best, but fender is quite expensive unlike ibanez, affordable but have good quality also, andy can afford anything i guess.lol

  • @1990Olloccin No, no, alder isn't the best (except if you're saying it's yor preferance :-) ) but it's a bright-sounding wood with quite some mids for rocking, where Ibanez or some metal-oriented guitars use e.g. basswood which is bassier and fuller sounding for heavier sounds. There are other woods too. I'm saying this Ibanez strat must be an alder one because it's strat-sounding. A proper strat is alder or ash(brighter). But Ibanez has tradition in thinner necks than Fender-different feeling.

  • @pacingBlue for metal, there is nothing better than alder. alder has a lot of attack and sharpness, and i think that sharpness is more important than bass. a muddy, bassy sound without sharpness doesn't sound aggressive or brutal at all

  • @givemeajackson Hmmm that sounds right! But aren't most metal guitars made of basswood? I mean, except superstrats like charvel or modded strats-Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, aren't these traditionally basswood instruments? Maybe I have the wrong impression.

  • @pacingBlue jacksons are mostly made of alder, expensive ESPs mahogany or alder. the alexi series are made of alder too, a lot of bc riches are alder. ibanez guitars are made of various woods, and a lot of them are made of basswood, maybe there comes your impression from

  • @givemeajackson Ehm, confused, Jackson & Charvel would be alder bodies & the same company more or less...

  • @pacingBlue ehm, what did i say about jackson and charvel? i dont know why you're confused, but you're right. Jacksons and Charvel are made of alder, and they are the same company in some way. basswood isn't an expensive wood, that's another reason why a lot of guitars are made of it. hope that helps

  • @1990Olloccin I think the simple answer is he gets paid by ibanez, not fender

  • amazing lick!

  • i'm not a gambling man... sorry Andy

  • 2 hours ago I shake hands with ANDY TIMMONS!!! YUPPI!!!!!!!! awesome guy!!!

  • Steve Vai should do a betcha can't play this...that would be the best thing ever to happen!

  • why is he using a pattern from electric gypsy to make his betcha cant play this vid?

  • I bet the other guys doing the "betcha can't" vids can't play this.

  • Electric gypsy FTW!!!

  • this is one of the most original guitar licks i've ever heard. absolutely fantastic. this guy is awesome.

  • @nyyguitar3387

Its Andy playing like Andy :)

  • @nyyguitar3387 Ya andy timmons is without a doubt one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. He's so origional, he can shred so fast but he just plays what he feels will make the piece better and have more passion.

  • @nyyguitar3387 there is a reason Ibanez gave him a signature guitar in the same price range as Steve Vai's Jems lol

  • @nyyguitar3387

    paul gilbert viking kong

  • electric gypsy is the best

  • Andy Timmons should do a jam together w/ Ritchie Kotzen!! who else agree's ?

  • It should be more of "Betcha can't tone this"

  • Saw this song live in Dallas a few years back at a guitar convention. It was amazing. My younger brother met him a year or 2 later at a little music shop over in Arlington i believe and said he was a real funny and polite guy.

  • What a really cool down to earth guy... nice tone too.

  • Nice.

  • Thumbs up if you think that this could be one of the best love songs ever played.

  • All of these Betcha Can't videos for every artist have an ugly reverb they don't use in their rigs.

  • what i always like from him is his awesome tone

  • hey this is andy timmons, and i betcha cant put as much emotion into a song as i can...no matter how fast some of these videos are, this is by far the best, because it has more feeling than any of that fast sweep stuff(which is still an amazing accomplishment)

  • @arx320skater yeah i agree its a great sound and its amazingly well put together as well, but also sounds like its on the fly like its not just made to fit if you know what I mean, but flows.

  • Hey, eddieisfiction, are you saying Andy has no feeling? I have to differ with you. Sure, jazz players can play these kind of things, but this is a different style, different dynamics, altogether different. Open your mind. Try to play this yourself with the dynamics of the specific accompaniment involved. This isn't a competition, it's about broadening your personal abilities. This really does have feeling to it and combining genres. What's your issue with it? Betcha Can't do that ya Hoser!

  • @Niteflymojo trying to figure out how my diss on neo classical shredders there would be aimed at andy... so yeah... you are dumb.

  • hi this is andy timmons and i betcha cant play slower then this

  • That is awesome

  • why he holds pick? :)

  • betcha can't sound like this but can play it easily

  • the old eddie van halen technique from spanish fly.

  • if matrix technology ever comes out.. im downloading his skill

  • @Subaro0o would it be sooooo boring! I like AT as the only one of his kind haha

  • @Subaro0o your mind couldn't hold the amount of memory needed to achieve his talent lol that and the Matrix couldn't handle this amount of awesome.

  • @Subaro0o Its the first download, Duh!

  • @Subaro0o Matrix already exists...But you're growing in a pod!!!

  • elctric gypsy!!!!! XD

  • I bet you can't play it with high action!

  • betcha u can play this

  • l played it the first time l tried. I don't get it... What's so hard?

  • @davidbrucemusicvideo I think Andy Timmons has a different view of what Betcha Can't Play this, for him I think it's not about showing more complex stuff, but teaching new stuff

  • he's great but i'm not sure i really like his strat copy.

  • What a feel this guy has... insane

  • The title should have been i betcha wanna play like me dont you......This guys tone and feel is soooooo cool its not even funny.I can shred fairly decent but watching a guy like that play i realize how far iam from a guitarist like that.i wish more guitarists knew him(although he is fairly famous now) and get to hear him before idolizing players like Farreri Cooley and the likes.

  • i would like to see all those shredding guys play that. nah just kiddin no disrespect some are good, problem is any nut with many hours of practice can acheive shredding speed and technicality, proof all the vids on the net of ppl playing fast. ive got a friend who learned a whole sweep pick solo and plays it perfectly yet he cant improvise a song with 3 notes lol

  • @srrdmalak true fact . i know some fews like that also .

  • @srrdmalak big problem with neo classical shredders... they have no feel, they think they can play better but htey dont realize jazz guitarists can do the same thing with more complex theory and actually make it sound good and have feeling.

  • Danger Danger fuckin' rocks!!

  • I could play this. without the over bend at 0:21 ...

  • @crazikid73 That wasn't an overbend...

  • The only guitar player ive seen so far, that has more than 1 "Betcha can play this"...

Andy is the best of us all.

  • simply amazing!!!!

  • What i admire about Andy and what makes him different from the others is that he doesn't get on this n juss slide his hand up n down the fret n juss pic as fast as he can.. he plays from the soul n puts in his fingers.

  • for some reason he is really admirable.

  • its not need to be fast lick to play.. its can be lick with a lot of feel and grove and i think its better than fast

  • he plays very nice

  • May be a slow lick, but it's actually really cool.

  • DUDE I can play that with my ass hairs !

  • @widepass But it sounds like the shit thats on it (:

  • @FunkMasterSteez

I have the Brown sound Of course!

  • @widepass

    LOOOOL

  • This guy is no joke. Resolution is amazing.

  • damn

    bitch won

  • Sounds like "electric gypsy"

  • @TheAussieSwede it is

  • Easy shit but is sounds SO good...

  • Sure, I can play that.

But with the same beautiful tone and vast amount of feeling? Fuck no.

  • my sons band guitarist could play this easy

  • @dinky2k3 thats good for him haha most guitarists can play this with just a basic knowledge of the instrument its the tone and feel he has in the peice that makes it so great.

  • esto es tocar guitarra

  • but i think andy can play everything you can!!
