@BIGGREENDA well bro, look at the fender jim root telecaster and you'll see there are no boundaries, also fender has fender pups, and this ibanez has dimarzio, so in the end is just your decision
Can anyone tell me how he gets this sound at 2:17 ? I know its probably an overdrive pedal and what a chorus maybe or something? please can someone message me with the answer or write back here, i will be really thankful
@Robbbeeerrrttt yo bro, what he is doing is using a distortion pedal on a clean channel (the BB preamp), and to get that dirty sound he is playing the notes while hitting the open string at the same time above the note. so for the first lick its 11th fret on the G string and open D string together, then 9th fret G open D string, then 7th fret G string open D string, etc. the open strings give a fuller effect to the lick
@RockNRoller294 yo you know any youtube videos that go into that hendrix style rhythm, As in a lesson? I've checked out one or two but they're pretty basic. Guess its all in the practice :( Cheers
@MartyFriedmanRulez66 I may bag douchely at times. But at least i dont resort to name calling a split second after my guitar idol is bashed without trying to reason.
@MartyFriedmanRulez66 Hi, learn to comprehend. Calling you out on name calling =/= i was offended. Now my feelings are hurt because its idiots like you who cause me to loose faith in the human race. A mom joke? People tell me you're still a child and i may regain my faith
@MarcoPolansky I could not agree with you more. I love the tone so much!!!! I really wish he would have played the whole thing. I swear sometimes I just play that one part over and over again just to listen him play it. It makes me so happy...haha
i love the mindless shredding u get death metal guysdoing in this column, its insane. But this was really insightful and original and sounded really really awesome
@MrFrothinger That's not necessarily the idea of these videos though. In fact if he was following the ideas these videos promote, this is not a smart choice of lick.
the reason why faster is better.. is because.. players that can play 20 notes per second.. can also play this.. .. .. ..so that's why all the betcha cant play this are mostly fast.. it's called that way for a reason .. but this guys playing nicely =) but i think there is a difference between playing Beautiful like this guy.. and playing Awesome...so i can't really compare those two..
What a great vid ! Here is a guy who is a brilliant player, loves what he does and enjoys sharing his technique with others. This, is a real guitar hero! Great job Andy!!
@1990Olloccin Ibanez has a different neck than strat. Different woods as well, although I guess from the sound that this should be an alder body like standard strats. Anyway, they're different instruments, from companies with different filosophies.
@pacingBlue yeah alder is the best, but fender is quite expensive unlike ibanez, affordable but have good quality also, andy can afford anything i guess.lol
@1990Olloccin No, no, alder isn't the best (except if you're saying it's yor preferance :-) ) but it's a bright-sounding wood with quite some mids for rocking, where Ibanez or some metal-oriented guitars use e.g. basswood which is bassier and fuller sounding for heavier sounds. There are other woods too. I'm saying this Ibanez strat must be an alder one because it's strat-sounding. A proper strat is alder or ash(brighter). But Ibanez has tradition in thinner necks than Fender-different feeling.
@pacingBlue for metal, there is nothing better than alder. alder has a lot of attack and sharpness, and i think that sharpness is more important than bass. a muddy, bassy sound without sharpness doesn't sound aggressive or brutal at all
@givemeajackson Hmmm that sounds right! But aren't most metal guitars made of basswood? I mean, except superstrats like charvel or modded strats-Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, aren't these traditionally basswood instruments? Maybe I have the wrong impression.
@pacingBlue jacksons are mostly made of alder, expensive ESPs mahogany or alder. the alexi series are made of alder too, a lot of bc riches are alder. ibanez guitars are made of various woods, and a lot of them are made of basswood, maybe there comes your impression from
@pacingBlue ehm, what did i say about jackson and charvel? i dont know why you're confused, but you're right. Jacksons and Charvel are made of alder, and they are the same company in some way. basswood isn't an expensive wood, that's another reason why a lot of guitars are made of it. hope that helps
@nyyguitar3387 Ya andy timmons is without a doubt one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. He's so origional, he can shred so fast but he just plays what he feels will make the piece better and have more passion.
Saw this song live in Dallas a few years back at a guitar convention. It was amazing. My younger brother met him a year or 2 later at a little music shop over in Arlington i believe and said he was a real funny and polite guy.
Hey, eddieisfiction, are you saying Andy has no feeling? I have to differ with you. Sure, jazz players can play these kind of things, but this is a different style, different dynamics, altogether different. Open your mind. Try to play this yourself with the dynamics of the specific accompaniment involved. This isn't a competition, it's about broadening your personal abilities. This really does have feeling to it and combining genres. What's your issue with it? Betcha Can't do that ya Hoser!
hey this is andy timmons, and i betcha cant put as much emotion into a song as i can...no matter how fast some of these videos are, this is by far the best, because it has more feeling than any of that fast sweep stuff(which is still an amazing accomplishment)
@arx320skater yeah i agree its a great sound and its amazingly well put together as well, but also sounds like its on the fly like its not just made to fit if you know what I mean, but flows.

@davidbrucemusicvideo I think Andy Timmons has a different view of what Betcha Can't Play this, for him I think it's not about showing more complex stuff, but teaching new stuff

i would like to see all those shredding guys play that. nah just kiddin no disrespect some are good, problem is any nut with many hours of practice can acheive shredding speed and technicality, proof all the vids on the net of ppl playing fast. ive got a friend who learned a whole sweep pick solo and plays it perfectly yet he cant improvise a song with 3 notes lol
@srrdmalak big problem with neo classical shredders... they have no feel, they think they can play better but htey dont realize jazz guitarists can do the same thing with more complex theory and actually make it sound good and have feeling.
What i admire about Andy and what makes him different from the others is that he doesn't get on this n juss slide his hand up n down the fret n juss pic as fast as he can.. he plays from the soul n puts in his fingers.
@dinky2k3 thats good for him haha most guitarists can play this with just a basic knowledge of the instrument its the tone and feel he has in the peice that makes it so great.
