Having a laser is a huge responsability. The safer lasers are under 300mw, green is the prefer color since are more brighter to our eyes than the other colors. I don't like to scan people eyes, I use my laser to scan on top of them or to write or draw in a screen.

I hope that this information help you. I suggest a RGB laser with no more that 300mw per color to scan people.

A white color ray (combining all 3) if you place your hand on front, you will feel a burning heat enough to making you move the hand in 2 seconds, imagine what could do to your eyes. Scanning people, depends the image size, the power are divided per square inch, that's why you point the ray concentration above the people. Only pointing to their eyes when scans, depending the image size, expose time and your laser power amount.

I'm happy with my laser, it's looks like the one of this video, I bought it on eBay from China, 40Kpps and 1.7 total watts, (800mw red, 400mw green and 500mw blue). This is very bright, to try it out, in a dark night, I can see a little bit the rays in the air and barely little, like a very small shadow movements in the clouds (5,000 feet), is not like the ones in the concerts, those are like 10w or more of power. Using my laser for half hour I burn the paint on my kitchen wall.

The laser images are made by dots, as many dots the image have better the details resolution, but as slower are the galvos the larger are the images blinks more, you can see the effect at the end of this video. You must need 40Kpps (40,000 points per second) galvos or more to have a nice graphic or writing display. For regular scanning effects you can have as low of 20Kpps.

OK people, this is a little laser information for those, like me, that are crazy trying to find out what to buy.

The Lasers: This kind of laser are called RGB Lasers, 3 lasers in one, Red, Green and Blue. Galvos are the motors X/Y that move the laser reflectors, they move the laser rays very fast for our eyes, creating the designs.

@sektor333 yes your correct, scanning into crowds like this is extremely dangerous, a laser workspace should be set above the heads of the crowd (no exceptions). This is a classic example of people having way too much money to spend on powerful lasers but don't know how to operate them safely. Its like someone with money who can't drive, goes out, buys the ferrari and ultimately causes harm. The crowd are getting a hell of a lot of laser energy into their eyes here. MOS = Amatuers

Yes, it is. This is why we regulate them in the United States, because they are very dangerous. These are all class IV lasers. They will instantly do damage. "TheSiolith" is incorrect, even glancing at it for a fraction of a second can cause damage depending on the power level per centimeter squared.

4:16 onwards, that is just amazing. If that was the RGB in the middle doing that, that thing must have some seriously fast galvos, probably 50KPPS. Which is the highest I've seen on the market!

I'm the CEO of a Showlaser manufacturer company who makes special highspeed scanning systems in Switzerland. SO I know exactly what's going on....

The fastest scanners make 60kpps ACCORDING the ILDA Test pattern... If you use them for raster scanning with small scanning angel you can drive them with 150 to 200kpps... but you need special interface hardware for doing that...

you can't make this with cheap coppied chinese hardware...
