@facaabc4 Hominum is genitive plural form of Homo, hominis, m., is it not? Homines Partus might translate to Birth of men, but it's gramatically incorrect in the latin language. To them (Romans) it would mean Men birth, and that just makes no sense. It's difficult to comprehend if your primary language is english cause it doesn't have any cases at all(latin has 6).
@Bradatimrkonja yes, you are correct with that (I was tired, sorry :D) but still I think this isn't just a mistake in the title... I would translate it as "Men of birth", as it is partus, us, m. --> birth, a bearing... so I guess it's something like that... or it could be also be a participle of pario, 3. peperi, partum... but I guess it should stand "Homines Parti" then... and don't worry, my primary language isn't English, in fact, it has 7 cases...
@facaabc4 Will accept the Men of birth theory, fellow latin speaker ;D. I nemrem vjerovat da pricam s Hrvatom(mozda Srbom il Bosnjakom, nezz kolko padeza imaju) :D.
I think it's a story about a man who is learning from God, or a higher power of sorts. And they want so much to be near the power. However the power becomes too great for the man to handle and so he starts believing he is better than God. Pulling a Lucifer if you will.
I also agree that the metaphors used also represent Man as a whole and the human soul. We want to be near and dear with nature but we become corrupt with power, and eventually turn into "Mr. Money."
Like you guys have already said, this song is about the birth of man, and I'm sure you've noticed it, but the fall of man as well.
The song starts off by man wanting to be near nature, then to learn of nature, then to own some of nature, and then to own it all. A descent into greed if you will, or, into modern times.
I agree with everything you said except one. Man was greedy long before modern times. In fact the farther back in time you go the more greed was considered acceptable.
And I think Imago is representing Adam or Man, which apparently corrupts becoming Mr. Money. But I think these lyrics are beyond any concrete scriptures. Its message could be applied to the Universe and our deviation from truth, from inner and collective peace and equilibrium through self-knowledge. It's a deep message everybody could find in the Socratic Method, Neoplatonism, the Bible, the Qur'an, the Sutras or the Bhagavad Gita...
I'd even say that Animae is also pure conscience, pure reason, not attached yet by indivual feelings, instinct and the incompleteness of common experience.
In Latin, partus means to create or produce and homines I am unsure of its actual meaning but I think it could mean man or men. So Homines Partus could mean to create man which seems fitting for this song.
You nailed it, man. Really close. I've got an advantage: I'm from Spain and my language has strong ties with Latin. Partus, which means "birth", is translated as "parto" in Spanish language. And "homines" is translated as "hombres", which is a bit different, but you can percieve the similarity as well. Of course, Latin words like "homo" or "homines" are taught here in school, so they're familiar and common to us.
I used internet explorer for the picture, iTunes for the bar at the top of the screen, Bullet Screen Recorder to record the bar, and then I used Sony Vegas 7.0 to edit the clips and add some small little effects.
Should be Hominum Partus
Bradatimrkonja 4 months ago
@Bradatimrkonja no, Hominum Partus would be "birth of man", this is in plural, so it is "Homines Partus", cos it's homo, inis,m.

What is Homines Partus?
