  • That was fantastic! I have a '36 Gibson TG-1 I have to get that thing out and start playing it -- very nice job!!!

  • @Mandolin1944 Thanks! Bet that '36 is a ton of fun!

  • Hi - very nice arrangement and excellent playing. Nice to see another tenor guitar on YouTube - and one played in good old "standard" CGDA. Kind regards, Will. :-)

  • @HenfieldWill Thank you. Great stuff on your channel; look forward to hearing more!

  • hi there. very nice video and playing! ive recently been given a tenor guitar and i ordered some of the d'addario sets for it and i find that the high A strings break before i get them to pitch. its not even happening at the nut, bridge, or tailpiece. any advice would be very much appreciated!!

    thanks, nick d.

  • @nickd444 Hi Nick - the top A on a tenor puts many strings close to their breaking point in CGDA tuning. I use Elixir Bronze Lights, which start at .010 and have the same gauges as used by FourStringz and mentioned already. :-)

  • @HenfieldWill Thanks, I put elixers on my mandolin so i'll try them on the tenor guitar too. I guess it would just be a 6-string set and ditch the two low strings or keep them as spares for my 6-string guitars cause on the elixer site it doesnt seem as though they make tenor sets. if this fails do you think a 9 might have better luck?

  • @nickd444 A .009 1st string would stand the strain better but probably give you less of a tone. I've only ever had a .010 string break when I once inadvertently overtuned it. If you keep it strictly on "A", it should be OK. :-)

  • @nickd444 Thanks for the compliment. I've had great luck keeping strings in one piece on this particular instrument, though I've known some guys that burn through high A's, seemingly with every strum. Not sure what the fix would be...might try Will's suggestion of the Elixirs and see how that plays out. Good luck!

  • Dude!!! Over the top Excellent....

  • @dosgoat Thank you much...I appreciate it.

  • Very nice....what tuning do you use?

  • @123blubull I use standard tuning (CGDA) on the D'Addario J66 (80/20 bronze) tenor guitar set - .010, .014, .022, .032

  • what kind of string do you use

i have a old rex made tenor guitar and want to restring it

  • @UKULELEsurfer I use the D'Addario J66 (80/20 bronze) tenor guitar set - .010, .014, .022, .032

  • Great job! Redd (Stewart, co-writer of the song) would be so proud!

    Thank you!

    Sharon (Redd's daughter-in-law)

  • @reddstewart Thank you for the kind words...one of the great waltzes ever composed.

  • nice work, nice tone and nice song

  • @ballbreaker2x2 Thank you...it's a tune I'd been wanting to put together for awhile now, and finally got around to doing so.
