actually, "crush on you" sounds like "i wish." No offense to lil kim, she does have skills, but she ain't got nothin on daz and kurupt (kurupt especially)
the songs were made at the same muthafuckin times in 1996
crush on you album version with lil cease - nov 12th, 1996
christmas on death row album - dec 5th 1996
crush on you single with lil kim - jan 7th, 1997
but if you ask me, they arent similar because daz recreates the melody from rain dance and uses it as a bassline here. the beat is drums, xmas bells, piano, and a lot of good elements. where as crush on you is basicly a direct sample cut out and used from rain dance with some drums added
PEOPLE LISTEN TO CRUSH ON YOU BY LIL KIM and Junior MAFIA. DOES THAT BEAT SOUND FAMILIAR. LIL KIM used it first. Part of the left over beef I guess!!!
Daz and Kurupt said some real, thoughtful stuff on this song. People need to think about the stuff that was said in this song before they get greedy on Christmas. Like William DeVaughn said, be thankful for what you have.
ignore my last comment, ive just looked it up and it did come out at xmas time 96, wow, i didnt realise this was released after pac died and suge went to jail
Suge released it to try and save Death Row and to make money for all his legal probs. Plus Snoop had to be a part of 1 album to finish out his contract. After this he finally gave Lady of Rage her own LP cuz he saw Lil Kim and Foxy were successful. And speaking of LIl Kim..listen to Crush on You from her 1st LP and u will hear the background beat to this track
major thumbs down and big disrespect for a classic album. dr. dre left death row way before summer of 96 due to beef with 2pac and Daz. this death row christmas album is truer and better than any album bustermath has ever released
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What u on about? If u mean Aftermath, er yeah u can play yr death row xmas album while the rest of the world bumps 2001 etc. It was a bad idea cos (a) no-one brought it (b) u cant fucking play it all year round (c) xmas songs should be left to Wham, Mariah fucking Carey etc. I suppose you think death row signing Hammer was a good idea too.
@ogfunk187 Bad idea? It was a charity project for the community. If anything, that should be MORE respect for Death Row. Not any of that "This niggas got a gun, he's got homeboy's, better show some respect." I mean real, legitimate respect.
fuck jr mafia! dat nigga daz did justice to this sample. crush on u sounds like a looped cut out of the intro to rain dance there's no creativity with only a few minor additions or change ups to the beat. daz is far superior as a sampler and producer compared to whoever did crush on u. listen closely to this song. dat nigga daz used the sample as a bassline only and built totally new drum beats to fit around it with christmas bells & encorporated way more sound. it sounds nothin like crush on u
@sinto4live Actually, I don't know where. Try amazon or ebay. I knew about this album, but couldn't get it anywhere. Then one day I saw it in a small music store and I bought it. The salesman told me that I managed to get my hands on the last one there. By the way, the whole album is dope!
@RalfsEilands I agree. I bought this album recently off of Amazon. Really good holiday album. My favorite songs were this one, "Be Thankful", "Santa Claus Goes Straight To The Ghetto", "Silent Night", and "Silver Bells". With the exception of "Christmas in the Ghetto" (The OFTB song), the album is pretty much clean and for an album like this, it's a good thing.
