although written before their fallout, this specific performance can almost be considered a message to pete given the circumstances that followed his departure or the Libs
@urbanwave123 Can't stand me now is not about hatred. It's a plea for understanding and compassion. It's a song to tell Carl he still loves him. He was reaching out. Music when the lights out was written years before they fell apart and was about a lover, not Carl.
cont.never the greatest guitarist but he made up for that with the poetry and song writing ability, Carl great voice, great guitarist, very nervous on stage, he needed pete with him to become what he is today, and if you've seen the pretty things you will see he is so much better now than when the libs first started, this is a great version of the song, thanks for posting.
read The Libertines Bound Together: The Story of Peter Doherty and Carl Barat and How They Changed British Music, then have a say on who you think is better, in my eyes they are equally as great, Pete,
This is an excellent version of the song. It is so barren. If Carl's solo album sounds like this it will give Grace/Wastelands a run for its money. Superb.
the very fact that a few years after the split we are still discussing whos better pete or carl, when in reality they are both 50% of the person they can be playing solo, shows they should just reunite, if only for one album...
think you're just stupid. have you ever listened closels to anything he did without pete? stupid "fans" ! pete only brings him down. why does he drink, hm? you don't see anything. shut the fuck up and leave him alone!
i love carl but it's amazing how peter's voice is so significantly more charasmatic and powerful. pete's solo work is just as lovely as the libertines but carl just can't seem to make anything spectacular without pete.
i'd have to strongly disagree. Waterloo to anywhere was probably one of, if not the, best album ive ever heard in my life. And listening to the two solo songs he's been playing at his gigs i've got high hopes for his solo album.
Carl is a great musician, it's just what you prefer.
Pete's version is a lot better must say

This is my favourite version of this song. Although I think unexpurgated should be subbed for unabridged.
