ok incest and a few others but not all. I normally edit with final fantasy in which themes like abuse are used in stories- tastefully mind you, not showing it- and i've seen it in disney too. All the videos I have seen have warnings though before hand and were made to get a message across. You can choose whether or not you want to watch them or not. But you can't cut them out because they don't fit your opinions ^^
Kids THAT young shouldn't be on youtube. And if they are its not the vidders' fault. Its every parent's responsibility to look out for their own kids.

I think its silly to want to boycott any disney vid with an "unhappy" theme. To me the most beautiful romances are the tragic ones. I can understand wanting a warning on vids containing pedophilia or something like that. you can't put a warning on everything... stalking, obession, manipulation, cheating, murder.
Most of those themes are already IN disney movies. Scar kills his brother, Frollo has a dark obession with Esmeralda...
i can see this is a touchy subject. i do agree that some things on youtube deal with very controversial and uncomfortable subjects, and if someone's doing it for the sake of being pervy then it's probably not right. but sometimes it can be really touching. like i absolutely loved neriede's entry for shade's role reversal contest last year, and it dealt with bulimia, which is a fairly taboo topic. idk i still don't believe in censorship, especially within the youtube community
Neriede's video was amazing, and personally as someone who's dealt with eating disorders in the past I found it very encouraging and helpful as someone whos recovering from that. But that video did not promote THESE THINGS.

ive become somewhat decensatized to these "taboo videos" simply because there are so many of them. i now watch for the depth of the storyline,the seemless blending of two movies, and how cleverly used a certain scene is so i can enjoy them for their artistic value, because as an open minded person i try to see everyones perspective. But i do remember when i first started finding them how shocked i was. it was disturbing. i think youre right though, morally the vids are wrong.

I think that the people that make these taboo type vids need to put a warning in the description or maybe in the beginning of the vid since some people are lazy to read the description. If these people like making these vids they aren't going to stop and every telling them to take them down and to stop making them is just going to make them want to make more. So I think the mature way to go about this is to let them continue to do what they want to do but ask them to put a warning in the vid. :)

I appreciate that you are much calmer and more rational than Shade, even though I don't agree with you I can respect you since you present your case in an intelligent manner and you are not just fear mongering. I don't think you or anyone else should try to police an artistic community, and I think it is wrong to try to censor anyone. Once the censorship starts, where will it stop? It is a slippery slope, and I don't know if your group has considered the ramifications of such a movement.
I think Shade was just very frustrated, and I can't blame her. :) I wouldnt want to be fear mongering I just want to get my opinion across and to make people think at least a little. BUT; I will say one thing. It's just my opinion.
Sweet and Innocent and Romantic is boring when it's always the same. If I see a video where, say, Kiara and Kovu are horrid to eachother, and Kovu kill's her father and rapes her because she cheats on him (Yes, I'm thinking more or less worst case scenario for a vid, xD) yes, it's disturbing in a way, but extremely fascinating because it doesnt

And as many known artists, who remain in history, u can see that sometimes their paintings (for ex. in Louvre) are happy, r about God/religious, historical, Coultural, militar and emotional (self perception of the world) and likewise are video makers with their vids because this too is an art.

Well, Vee I agree with you to an extent. However, I enjoy watching some of these videos. Its not because I am comfortable with the subject matter but because I like to see how creative editors can get. I think that it isn't bad that these videos are around I just think are too abundant.

It's probably because I never saw Disney as "magical", I always saw it as cheesy, that I just don't think it's so wrong for people to use this footage to portray their dark stories. I don't see "my childhood" in these vids, I just see the creativity and hard work these people put in.

I'm afraid I'm not really agreeing with the statement or this "Revolution". First of all taboo's are supposed to shock and make you feel awkward, for else they would not be taboo's. Second I think that using familiar and loved characters in these videos shows that even people who seem brave and heroic on the outside can still be bad (as in real life) or in the case of homosexual content I think it could be encouraging to see a character that you love who is like you.
Okay I think they should mention in the title of the video that this video contains taboo themes or something. But i disagree that they should take them down. I think even dark themes need some channel to get out. You don't have to watch them if you don't like them. I think it makes sense to use characters that we all know and can relate to when they use them in their videos. Cant you guys coexist together? make compromises. please
Yes they should do that if there making them, but frankly they don't - very few taboo videos state that what they are presenting is wrong in the description, they just sort of get on with it - no clear image of anything being wrong is given. Thats just not acceptable in my opinion. And we've been sitting here for months just trying to ignore/not watch - but it's just not working. x____x And if they need a channel, then use other media - its specifically taboo DISNEY I have a problem with. Again, I definitely agree on principle, and this is why my favorite videos are all canon. I like to keep the characters' integrity intact in my own videos, especially using a fandom as cherished as Disney. I hate to see characters messed with and put into situations in which they would never get involved...so I agree with your point of view. :) But, again, I won't go so far as to unsubscribe to people because I disagree with some of their videos, as long as the good outweighs the bad.

Whether they take them down or not is their moral concern, as far as I'm concerned to just make people think is all I aimed to do - and if they have, then I've achieved my goal. :) And I agree with you that a warning is a good idea, but people don't always listen to things. I appreciate that you are much calmer and more rational than Shade, even though I don't agree with you I can respect you since you present your case in an intelligent manner and you are not just fear mongering. I don't think you or anyone else should try to police an artistic community, and I think it is wrong to try to censor anyone. Once the censorship starts, where will it stop? It is a slippery slope, and I don't know if your group has considered the ramifications of such a movement.

I think Shade was just very frustrated, and I can't blame her. :) I wouldnt want to be fear mongering I just want to get my opinion across and to make people think at least a little. @RumourDarcile It makes sense, and I understand where you and the other girls are coming from. but even if you don't intend to censor anybody that is what will happen if you try to stop people from making a certain kind of vid. I personally don't like these vids either, I just click away from them. But censorship has a history of being taken too far, far past what was originally intended. BUT; I will say one thing. It's just my opinion.
Sweet and Innocent and Romantic is boring when it's always the same. If I see a video where, say, Kiara and Kovu are horrid to eachother, and Kovu kill's her father and rapes her because she cheats on him (Yes, I'm thinking more or less worst case scenario for a vid, xD) yes, it's disturbing in a way, but extremely fascinating because it doesnt

Its when it borders on the sickening, the things that really are just so far from the Disney in my heart I can barely watch.

what you say is correct,that actually all the disney movies are very nice and always send a good message at the end.On the other side ugly stuff happens everyday like your example of pedophile etc.maybe not in your or mine conscious daily life but still things you hear at the media and things that might be happening to your neighbour with you not even knowing about it. Ex. About fathers raping their kids and keeping them in a basement(it happened twice in Austria).It's terrible isn't it?

@Astrid257 but as we grow I guess those 2 things(the bad things&the fairytales)start 2 mix with eachother.So bottomline is YT is mostly a place were u can develope ur creativity. And as many known artists, who remain in history, u can see that sometimes their paintings (for ex. in Louvre) are happy, r about God/religious, historical, Coultural, militar and emotional (self perception of the world) and likewise are video makers with their vids because this too is an art.

Well, Vee I agree with you to an extent. However, I enjoy watching some of these videos. Its not because I am comfortable with the subject matter but because I like to see how creative editors can get. I think that it isn't bad that these videos are around I just think are too abundant.

But what she's saying is, there are many people who like these crossovers and the talent of the editor, and the creativity.
So if people don't like that sort of thing, shouldn't constrict (restrict? :S) our imagintaion / what we want to upload.
It would be much easier for the people to listen to the warnings, than for the other people creating the videos to never make them.
So the videos ARE there, but what you don't watch can't scar you for life.

I'm not hating on the taboo crossovers because to some extent I enjoy watching then. To see what the editors do with say incest or whatever, it fasinates and amazes me...

Why do people keep making a big deal about Alice's innocence? That whole movie was about drugs...
It's probably because I never saw Disney as "magical", I always saw it as cheesy, that I just don't think it's so wrong for people to use this footage to portray their dark stories. I don't see "my childhood" in these vids, I just see the creativity and hard work these people put in.

I can totally understand where your coming from, but these movies were literally my haven as a child - tantamount to me to someone taking my childhood memories and just ripping them into pieces. I understand you may see that as extreme but thats how I feel. :3
And if the movie was about drugs or not she's still a child, and paedophilia in disney vids is NOT COOL.

I think its just the glorification of the taboo themes in the minds of the viewers who watch these videos.

To be completely honest, I think this whole "saving neverland" thing is a teensy bit dramatic.
I don't enjoy seeing videos with sick themes either, but its a little.. prudish to be saying "This is what I think should be vidded using disney, and thats all there is to it"
I mean, I remember watching crossovers from 5 years ago where Prince Charming was having an affair with Cinderella behind Ariel's back. This type of thing has always been around. TBC

Third....I don't think that it's right that you are now rooting against such vidders and I don't think anyone inside the Disney "community" should be laying down any restrictions for each other. I mean that's why I love it so much, everybody does their own thing and loves doing that. It kind of makes me sad that people are now dictating and putting "rules" down for others. Like if you want to be in you have to stick to the loveydovey stuff.

I'm afraid I'm not really agreeing with the statement or this "Revolution". First of all taboo's are supposed to shock and make you feel awkward, for else they would not be taboo's. Second I think that using familiar and loved characters in these videos shows that even people who seem brave and heroic on the outside can still be bad (as in real life) or in the case of homosexual content I think it could be encouraging to see a character that you love who is like you.

I think even dark themes need some channel to get out. You don't have to watch them if you don't like them. Yes they should do that if there making them, but frankly they don't - very few taboo videos state that what they are presenting is wrong in the description, they just sort of get on with it - no clear image of anything being wrong is given. Thats just not acceptable in my opinion. And we've been sitting here for months just trying to ignore/not watch - but it's just not working. x____x And if they need a channel, then use other media - its specifically taboo DISNEY I have a problem with. Again, I definitely agree on principle, and this is why my favorite videos are all canon. I like to keep the characters' integrity intact in my own videos, especially using a fandom as cherished as Disney. I hate to see characters messed with and put into situations in which they would never get involved...so I agree with your point of view. :) But, again, I won't go so far as to unsubscribe to people because I disagree with some of their videos, as long as the good outweighs the bad.

I've said this before but I do like watching taboo videos, especially that taboo MEP that went on not to long ago, though in reality I don't in any way condone subjects like pedophilia.
I guess no one's going to have the same opinion as each other and I respect yours and everyone elses in the group, I really hope everyone can get along and at least accept what other editors do without trying to take they're videos down :)

Haha, yeh Gege. ;) I really disagree with these videos - and I think maybe part of the reason taboo's are enjoyed so much (but I could be wrong. :)) is because some of the editors creating them are so talented that you can't help but be wowed at their manips, its the subject that there presenting that I have a problem with.
