Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Rod McKuen, Charles Aznavour have been extreme favorite constellations to me since the 60's. I do love this version; first he starts in French and sets the mood; then English for the audience. Wonderful! As you know Brel wrote it; McKuen did the English lyrics. I have not enjoyed Julio but I admit this with such emotion, pain, sadness, hoping--whether acting or real makes no difference--I have never heard an American sing with the emotion of the French chancon singer.
