  • im sorry to say this but youm used a plastic cover........i think thats cheating the hole part of living in the nature

  • this is a very good shelter ive seen it in my sas survival guide and you have done a great job with it but there is extras you can add down the side wich can be used to expand your shelter and store wood (for fire) and equipment.

  • k bar baby

  • i thought frapping was........ never mind.

  • You really need to edit your videos. Don't waste time asking questions and just explain why it is you're doing things as you're doing them. I could have explained how to build one, shown the process, and provided a clearer demostration by editing and simplifying the process. You don't need a LOG to build a lean-to. It is only a temporary shelter.

  • he should do natural shelters. not this plastic bullshit

  • 3 people are going to die in the wilderness....nice video by the way, i'm going on a sruvival camp soon for the merit badge and we can't bring plastic, do you have any other way to build a wind-proof shelter?

  • Just a quick question. I don't know if you know or not since you weren't the one teaching but do you know what kind of cordage this man is using? I am going on a backpacking trip in the summer and thought this would be a good shelter to use. I was thinking of using snare wire but this rope looks much easier to use.

  • is she in a wedding dress

  • I come from Italy and I've been getting more and more involved in wild life lately.. I am very happy and very greatful for your help and videos. I am experiencing nature as I never did before. My only question is, how do you do when it's pouring outside of your shelter and you want to prevent water from coming inside ? Thank you BobbysoFamous. You're great ;)

  • @DA88OR Thanks for the positive comment! Although I put these vids up, I don't teach the courses but maybe I can give advice anyway. The first to do would be to determine where the win is coming form, and have your opening facing the opposite direction. If the rain is really crazy, a lean-to might not be best, you may want a tepee or debris hut.

  • @freakshowaffair, Look dumbass, he had to cut those poles (anyone would know that). They could be easily cut or gathered. And no one carries Vaseline with them, he was referring to Vaseline covered cottonballs which serve as a valuable tinder and asset to a survival kit. You're an immature douche who doesn't know shit about real bushcraft. You're the type of person that would die in a survival situation. So go away and leave Bushcraft to the ACTUAL Bushcrafters like myself.

  • these perfect poles and rope just happened to be sitting in the woods BOOOO YOU SUCK DUDE! And who the fuck aside from child molesters carry petrolium jelly in the woods god your serious crap! I wanna flank this douche more than u ever could imagine he doesnt know jack shit just watch this if ya dont believe me omg at least he tries ill give him that ....maybe

  • @freakshowaffair Your a tard. Its just an example of something thats real cheap, works great and is easy to carry in a kit. If you carry a first aid kit, some have a small tube of pat. jelly in them. The guy is a ex-S.E.R.E. instructor and he knows his shit.

  • @freakshowaffair So WTF stupid ass. Should he spend 3 hours of the f****** class looking for poles? If you need that much instruction, then natural selection needs to be allowed to happen and you just die in the woods!

  • is that a ka-bar bowie? if so, CALLED IT!

  • nice

  • Timber hitch is a clove hitch right?

  • @TheFink1991 no it it a round the limb, tuck around the line, and then twist it up around the line going to the limb.

  • @bobbysofamous

Just a quick question...Why not just turn it into an A frame? Wouldnt take much longer and sooo much better imo.

  • @tfun101 i think the main advantage of a lean-to is that you have space to sit up and do stuff, and you can also build a fire just outside of it and benefit from the heat while an a-frame has limited amount of open space exposed to the heat

  • He was a boy scout! :)

  • How about cranking up the volume...cannot make out what you are saying!

  • frapping? LOL!

  • who the fudge uses plastic rap to make a lean to? it's just soooo dang stupid!!! that gay guy would not even survive in a grocery store. (p.s. my friend wrote this. NOT ME)

  • This guy used plastic again for a shelter and it is starting to annoy me. he should teach us how to build a real lean to with all sticks and not just plastic.

  • Thanks! good video!

  • wow! dude, i used to waste so much time just looking for branches with a Y shape to hold down the form but this is genius! :] thanks man, ive been in survival training since i was 15 but 4 years later im still learning some of the basics XD but where shud i go for 2-3 inch diameter rope? i tried canadian and theyre always sold out.

  • the rope we used is called 550 cord or parachute cord. it holds 550 pounds so it's strong enough for almost anything. ebay sells it really cheap, just make sure it's the real thing and not imitation!

  • in that case i shud ask my cousin, he's a sky diving fanatic :]

  • nah, i know ur an instructor but if ur stranded u shud use spruce roots. strong, flexible and they can support around 300 pounds depending on the size in diameter. ive done alot of reading and done alot of what i learned and its the best way to go. but making the roof is kind of harder. u need to tie alot of pines so the water flows right down. and its not as annoying as plastic cover and it isnt toxic if it ever gets caught on fire. just thougth u shud add that to the book! :]

  • you only need twine

  • We built one of these for a competition but we used a log to prop it up on. Sadly we were disqualified because they said the log could fall. Whatever, they just hating on us. The winning group used their wagon (which we all had) and put it over their heads. How that is survival, I don't know but it made me mad :p

  • yeah i guess you use what you got. but if there's a log there i would probably use it too

  • i would love to go on one of these retreats; it is so cool just to get out in the nature.

  • Cool video but if you go to the trouble of bringing all that plastic why just just bring a little pup tent with you? These days you can practically carry a small one in a pocket of a back back or large pant leg pocket :)

  • That plastic is a small roll of painters tarp, packaged they're the size of a permanent marker, pretty small. This is just a demonstration on how to make the shelter, you don't need to use painters tarp you can use stray garbage bags, trash, branches, leaves, etc.

  • yayyyy babies :D
