  • That looks too complicated.

  • Damnit my les paul :'(

  • I would be more concerned about your staircase than the guitar... I assume it's not your house, probably your parent's right?

  • fender dosent make good guitars aymore

  • damn. got some steep fuckin stairs there bro. I can see myself just waking up and trying to walk down these stairs still half asleep and slipping to fall on my ass and slide down on ma butt.

  • haha, love it. After all these artsy vids with people showing off their delicately precise flecks and scratches...

  • thats fucking hilarious

  • The true way to relic your guitar is to play until your fingers bleed eight hours per day and take it to a few gigs without a case. One time a girl actually CLIMBED ON MY SHIT. Do some gigs and play a lot. You'll get the natural relic instead of imitating it.

  • Sometimes I want to relic my roommate...

  • at least the will look real and not fake

  • BRAVO!!

  • Comment removed

  • rofl

  • how to tear up your parents house

  • how to relic your strat and kitchen chair!!

  • lul

  • Like Shaggy would say - "like zoinks!!!"

  • this is so stupid xD but it looks so cool

  • I think this one is: How to relic a chair!

  • well thats one way of doing it i suppose...

  • well, that "relics" your stairs and balusters too... ;)

  • @skisepp0815 don't forget fluffy if she happens to be in the line of fire, lol.

  • I love it...... ba ha ha.

I make customer leather stuff and people will pay ALOT for a relic'd leather pc. It takes a little more time and effort than this particular technique though.

  • lol awsome!!

  • ????

  • damn ur wife is going to kick ur ass 4 doin' that shit in the house dude!!

  • I will have to have a go at that on my next project. I'll just make sure the wife is out.

  • 0:15 That's a pretty steep staircase..

  • HAHA that just made my day awesome

  • LOL That is too funny! Rock on!!!

  • People buy faded jeans, or spend big bucks at a salon to achieve a slept-on look; having a beat-up guitar is the same idea. some cool guy out there wore his to hell and back, so the rest of us want in on it. I've actually brought my guitar to shows without a case because I wouldn't mind it looking like I've been were said cool guy has been. Not to mention building and customizing a guitar can be an amazing experience; it helps me especially when I have writers block.

  • Absolutely PMSL! Hilarious!

  • LOL. I don't know why this video make s me laugh so much. It's awesome!! LOL at the comment about footage found in a grandparents garage. Epic!!

  • the end product looks like something i'd find in my grandpa's garage...so good job haha looks sweet

  • i really dislike the whole concept of relics, but this accually looks authentic. Some peoples relics look AWFUL. next time put some of your kitchen utensils (forks spoons etc) on the stairs

  • to be fair, they probably dont sound better pierfra, but new strats look so gay, so if people want to beat them up, so what, can you affard 15000 for a vintage strat? i can't.

  • lol :D This is the perfect way!

  • i throw mine out the window on the free way. They turn out great./!!!!!!!!11111

  • yea or just drive 15 or 20 mph with it tied to the bumper

  • lol

but this is true malmsteen hit the walls with his strat to make it look aged jaja.

  • this made me laugh.... haha did you scratch up your walls pretty badly doing this?

  • That poor instrument.

I love the look of a worn in guitar. There is an aesthetic difference between an instrument that has been worn through years of love and play versus one that's been tossed down a flight of stairs.

  • I hope it's justa a joke-video.

only guitarist that can't play, wants a relic, so the can fool the audience :P

really stupid thing... learn to play, not to destroy guitars.

  • legendary guitarists used to do lots of shit to their instruments.... SRV cracked Number 1's headstock when he threw it against a wall..... and he got that trick for his brother, another pro.... true guitarists are people who will look for 30 year old guitars that sound so much better than the bright and shiny crap at guitarcenter, but if youd rather have a new instrument, then relicing is the way to go to give it a worn feel without waiting 15 years... it isnt a lie

  • first of all, I AM in fact a bassist (almost professional).

I can actually tell you (for Luthier studies), that "old" guitars don't sound better. it's only wood aging well (if keeped well, clearly! ).

legendary guitarists are not "the way to follow" :P and in fact they have USED their instruments...

I think relicing is so stupid 'cause you it's only "look", not sound. is a thing for idiots who think that a worn instrument looks "cool"...

that's not music. just a stupid fashion for idiots...

  • ive played old instruments for the 70s, and 80s.... I have always found that to my ears they sound better. I have no scientific reasoning behind this or anything, but Ive actually heard many people say the opposite, that older woods that have wearing will produce better tone. I'd say most guitar veterans would agree with me on that... oh, and you cant state "old guitars dont sound better" like a fact because thats an opinion questions :p

  • ah you said, "no scientific reason".

simply, an WELL aged wood (depends on how is kept, humidity and other things) will be more firm and used to vibrations.

this will happen even with a well kept 2008 instrument, in a few years... this is science.

"old guitars dont sound better" is because "better", in term of sound, is not a measurable thing.

so, if you like a broken instrument, not lived, but simply maked up... you just want "look" and "fashion", not sound.

    so relicing is stupit....

  • Ive heard veterans say that when some of the laquer and paint is removed, the guitar will produce a better tone... so regardless of looks, many people believe that a beat up guitar sounds better

  • the same thing, is just a legend. no scientific reasons.

actually, with urethane finish, ther's no problem with wood.

with the old and nocive nitro finish, it was different.

actually, the "new" nitro finish is made with different composition, so it's more like urethane, but looks "vintage", and is used on Highway One Fenders, or Road Worn.

  • so having a guitar tht was reliced means that u cant play? your a shit head. its a matter of opinon not wether or not u want to fool the audience. u can go shove you scienticfic facts up your ass. and so i could look at your basses and say its a fashion for idiots because i dont like the way it looks? your an idiot.

  • nope, simply I CARE of my instrument.

everyone always talks about woods, luthierism, care in construction...

and then tosses the poor body down the stairs just to "look cool", probably because he cant play or doesn't have time to USE his guitar...

start playing, not messing around withi instrumentis ;-)

  • lol im not condoning throwing ur guitar body around, im saying like sanding the finish off ur guitar so it looks worn isnt hurting it, and tht is style. this joker is a idiot idk wut he was thnking,

  • its his guitar, let him do what he wants with it. i mean i wont throw mine down the stairs, but if he wants to let him

  • I don't see how relicing your guitar is any different from applying any type of finish to it... I hate the look of swirled guitars for example, doesn't mean I don't respect those who do, and I sure as hell don't call them idiots for having their own taste. Having a guitar that you think looks "cool" as you put it, which fits your personality, is often important for delivering a 100% heartfelt and comfortable performance. It's not vanity, it's about feel, vibe and other elusive notions.

  • also seems like you will have a relic chair... good job. /irony

  • Genuis.

  • haha that was hilarious...especially with that music going on

  • So the theory to relic is'' if your guitar looks battered and aged it might make you deluded enough to think you've been playing the guitar for years but in reality you have only been playing a few months

and look like a twat because you suck

    twang twang snap !!

  • Thats one way! lol

  • Hahaha :) Nice :)

  • ahahaha i had a laugh

  • Hell, I think it was probably good for a few more stair rides...LOL!!!

  • also a quick way to relic the legs of a chair.

  • hay anyone ever seen one of the vintage ones that the paint cracked all over it, it looks really cool but anyways does anyone know how to paint that.i like how it looks i just dont wanna shell out 2grand for one

  • wait till it snows or its really cold outside.. take ur guitar outside and leave it for about an hour.. then bring it in and blow on it with a hairdryer on the hot setting.. where it was cold it shrinks the wood and the heat expands the wood quickly causing a checked *cracked* finish.. that will save you 2 grand ;-)

  • please tell me that was a squier xD cus if it were an actual american, thats just not right lmfao. but i guess it looks really cool and is a great way to vent anger.

  • lol do you know how much money the Fender Custom Shop would lose if more ppl saw this?? they wouldn't have to pay 1000s of dollers to get relics!

  • hahahaa

  • and you also relic your house at the same time, with guitar damaging stairs + walls

    it's great

  • i fucking lold irl :)

  • @nunopumpkin lol

  • Yepp, thats Fender Custom shop

  • lol, maybe next time you could tie it to the back of a car and drive around for a few mins

  • ahaha nice 1

  • then clean it up with a belt sander right?

  • carpeted stairs, whip it down the basement stairs

  • hilarious

  • ha ha thats a funny and easy way of doing things

  • LMAO!!! HAHAHAHAHA that was so good especially after just finishing watching the legit old dude talk about how he did it.

  • looks good :P

  • ahahahahhahahahhahhhaahahahahaahahahhaahahha

  • Works better when there's no carpet on the stairs.

  • HaHaHa!!!

It killed me to watch that!

I felt every bump and knock.

    Poor guitar.

  • looks a bit like yngwie malmsteens guitar

  • Nice finished product.

  • LMAO, Simple yet effective. For even quicker relicing try it on cement stairs!

Thats awesome. I just cant see throwin my $1400 strat down a flight of stairs.

  • lol same here...john mayer sig isnt going down the stairs any time soon

  • alright sure and who do you think is good? jonas brothers?

  • yeah i listen to clapton, gilmour, srv, hendrix, robben ford all of them but obviously you have never heard john mayers blues stuff if you think he is pop trash. oh yeah and just to let you know....srv's guitar tech is now his and he plays with clapton, bb, buddy, and srv's bro.....but yeah he sucks only the shitty players play with great bluesmen? yeah right dude

  • i'd like to see you try to play like mayer. You may just hear his radio cuts, but try seein him live. After you have three consecutive orgasams, you'll realize, he is an amazing artist. Thank you guitarskater11, artgonewrong suck it.

  • I wish there was a way to un-relic my body.

  • how bads the body of yor guitar

  • I mean my physical body - this thing with arms and legs etc : )

  • ohhhhh ok

  • un-relic? lol throw it UP the stairs :)

Or just rattle can whatever color ya like!

  • This just takes the meaning out of a real guitar. But was funny to watch.

  • Lmao! way to go!

  • how did the relicing on the chair come out ;-)

  • The final result was great, I have to admit, but this process is a bit dangerous, since the body could very well break. The goal is to artificially age the guitar, not break it.

Great results though, and I love the color! :)

  • And it kills two birds with one stone, by relic'ing the staircase as well. :)

  • It looks more natural than many of the nutty things they are doing.

  • Very true - and likely a wee bit cheaper

  • Awesome Dude

  • hahahahahahahahahah!!!!! I'll do this with all my guitars right now!!!!!!!!!

  • haha! Right on! I was LMAO!

  • haha good idea

  • haha awesome job relicing man!! really awesome!

  • Thats genius and you don't look like an ass with a file! haha

  • HHAHAHAHAHAHAHH... im crying on the inside

  • lmao awesome

  • Poly or Nitro?

  • its poly im afraid

  • The more Vintage, the longer the Penis, right? Idiot...

  • I'm sorry have i offended you?

  • bro how did you make the knobs turn really brown?please message me the answer.

  • stick them in a jug of strong coffee overnight and that should get it, but it only works with certain types of plastic like the Fender american parts

  • damn that looks great! i should do that with my strat! gets the job done quickly

  • Wow, I can't believe how real it looked after you got done ha ha!

  • Cool, I've never thought of that way o getting dings and stuff. Much easier than the heatgun + keychaintrick :D

  • LMAO man!she look very nice :P

  • was that body finished in poly or nitro?

  • Cool!

  • I bet tying a a string around it and draging it behind a car would be a hell of a lot more fun. I did not know fenders could make that tone.

  • Lmfao... people would prob give you 5k for that "relic" xD

  • hey dude you should have taken off all the hardware (bridge, pots, jack socket, etc) prior to dropping it. the result however is very nice!

  • there isnt any hardware on it. look the second time he drops it.

  • DUDE!!! You shoulda told me you were going to do that! I'd have come round and helped!! Although looking good I must say...
