  • Haha! I can just imagine the immediate reactions of those watching you talk to "yourself". ;) Thank you very much for your videos, they're quite informative!

  • Ye im not a JET but these videos are extremely interesting, I just started watching you vids and cant stop.

  • great - glad you're enjoying the vids!

  • What do you think of Jyuken Eigo(Entrance Exam English)? Have you helped your students for it? I beleive that native English speakers can help or give them advice for it at least.

  • Could you bring your computer to the school and use to go on the internet? or do you have to use the shared computer?

  • Do you get your own desk Jason? Or is it shared with someone else?

  • at both schools, I have my own desk. I have heard about JETs with multiple schools having to share a desk.

  • Hey these are great vlogs, i've just started watching them over the past couple of days and they are really informative. I really liked this one. Thanks!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the vids. :D

  • Thanks for the info, your Vlogs are really interesting!

Since you talked about the AJET I found the web site and it was nice to see that they have a download section with some good Japanese learning resources (I was looking for some of that "bilingual material" you had in the video).

I wish I could apply to the JET Programme, but I'm not a native English speaker... :(

  • I'm glad that you're enjoying the videos despite not being a JET participant. I hope to make more general "living in Japan" type vlogs in the future.

  • Informative as always. Thanks for the videos!

  • wow all that text looked complicated as hell. Was it overwhelming with all that stuff when you first started?

  • yeah - when you first get here so many things are new - new lifestyle, new town, new apt, new language, new job, etc etc.

The whole first year feels like getting up to speed, which is why many JETs choose to stay a 2nd year and really enjoy everything more.

  • Does the Japanese school year begin in April? Do i remember correctly?

  • You do! :)

April to March the following year. Right now we're in ichi gakki - first term.

  • my jose just got his placement, south nagano. its in a valley and he got a huuuuge apartment [and clean] but he has to get a car...2 schools are close one is 40 min drive! and he will be 2 hrs train to tokyo =)

  • Sounds great! I wish I was closer to Tokyo at times, but I many finally make it back there for some vacation days this August.

  • I agree with the rest of the people on here another good video. Jason you do really good in front of the camera. Jason you say your from Shimane? Iam going to Tottori after a short stay in Osaka. I'am just curious if you been that way since it is not to far from Shimane.

  • Yeah - I've been to Tottori a few times. I used to go to a movie theatre in Yonago (just over the border from Shimane) all the time, but it closed for remodeling in January.

  • I just moved into a new apartment and I don't have internet until next thursday (!) and I'm already freaking out about it. I can't believe you can't check you e-mail at the other school! I'd have showed them what's what (i.e. silently complained to myself).

    Fun video!

  • Another great video. Tons of really good ideas to keep in mind! Cant wait for the next one!

  • Thanks!

  • I have a question, doesn't sannensei (さんえんせい) mean Junior/3rd Year Student. But you said 9th graders? I've never seen the office of the schools before, so thank you for this video.

  • I think junior high is grades 7 8 and 9. So a junior high student in their 3rd year would be a 9th grader.

  • Oh ok. Then sannensei would be correct. My bad. I was unaware of that. Thank you School.

  • Yeah - if you're Japanese you'll be a 3nen sei three times in your life - at age 9 in elementary school (3rd grade), again at age 15 in Jr High (9th grader) and lastly at age 18 in High School (12th grader). Of course, you don't HAVE to go to HS, but like 98% of Japanese students do go.

  • Oh o.k. Well that is interesting. Thank you again for the response so quickly.

  • sugoii work vid~!! ^_^

  • you make really good vids......can't wait until you make anothere one!

  • thanks!

  • Agreed, cool to see the work area. Again, eagerly awaiting the next, great work Jason.

  • Cool to see your work area even at the cost of people thinking you talk to yourself :)
