  • 3 people never had a TRINITRON

  • they fucking look the same lol

  • "Oy, stop writing on my shirt!"

  • 0:00 <- Flips off everyone watching tv.

  • Comment removed

  • lol its the same tvs

  • I produced this commercial and a few others with Twunt Cleese. There is another in this "Sony Jim" campaign... but i can't find it. He really was a bastard to work with. I don't think I lughed for weeks.

  • John Cleese is an awesome comedy legend and I also love Sony. Every electronic appliance I own are all branded Sony and have everything from Bravia to Walkman. I am also typing in this comment through my Sony Vaio laptop.

LMFAO at the end of this advert when he said, "OI!!! STOP WRITING ON MY SHIRT!!!" Classic!

  • at the time this comercial was made. cleese was well know as part of comedy group >Monty Phyton<. one of the best and well known comedy groups ever worlwide. they influenced later comedians in certan ways.

  • oie shthop wrhithingh hon mye shurrt

sorry its just funny spelled that way

  • "BUT: on the SONY telly, it looks... exactly the bloody same!"

  • He is a devastatingly sexy, funny, gorgeous man, every woman's ideal!

  • Of uhh, my shirt.. :D

  • Love it.

I'd love to get one of those TVs. Very retro.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE that little grin he does! :D

  • JOHN CLEESE: I ENJOY HIS WORK AT FAWLTY TOWERS AND MONTHY PYTHON,ALTHOUGH WHEN HE MADE THEM I HAVEN'T BEEN BORN, I LAUGH A LOT SEEING THEM,SO MUCH CLEVERNESS IN THE SHOW,NOT LIKE SOME AMERICAN ACTORS THAT ONLY TELL A LADY TO GET NUDE,AND TALK A ABOUT BREAST AND SO.IN BRITAIN,BEING A COMEDIAN,IS BEING AN ACTOR IT'S A SERIOUS ISSUE.(ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME GREAT AMERICAN COMEDIANS,MOST PEOPLE IN U.S A LAUGHS OF CHILDISH THINGS.) GREAT JOB MR CLEESE!

  • At the end of monty pythons 'the meaning of life' thers a sony trinitron before the end credits, i know, i have one. Maybe sony sponsered monty python or something! i dont know?

  • I'm always amazed that we are supposed to see the difference in picture quality when we at home have the shitty TV showing the good one. Same thing with new commercials as well. A bit of a paradox I think.

  • I'm using a Sony Trinitron CRT right now - date manufactured 1998, and I still plan on using it for a long time :D

  • @satorianaide that's a very good monitor use it till it dies. but don't throw it away if it stops working. mine stop working and turned on 2 years later and it worked. :)

  • @simon1234simon lol that's kind of lucky for you then XD anyways, I really like this monitor, even if I do need to place a fan towards it to keep it cool :>

  • I had a Sony Trinitron made in 2000 and it broke in 07' and was replaced with a Sony Bravia. I like the Bravia more because it has HD and is so much smaller!

  • @WindowsAndMacintosh Such is technological advancement.

As a Sony fan I'm glad you went for Sony TVs.

  • the two tvs look exactly the same to me

  • Was the first one liked by John Cleese? I THINK NOT!

  • @pepsiflash I can tell a little bit of difference. You have to remember that this commercial aired about 30 years ago, so due to video quality, it is much harder to tell the difference between the two TVs.

  • cleese for the win

  • I own the first model of Trinitron Sony marketed in Britain.

  • @TashkentFox So do I. The Sony KV-1320UB :)

  • "Awfully nice Sony people" - LOL

  • @deconverts who knows, maybe in 1980 it was true.

  • Seriously, this man is brilliant.

  • he's not wearing his undershirt. Just a tie under his jacket on bare skin.

  • and your point is?....

epic fail for pointing out the obvious.

  • This is the guy from "A Fish Named Wanda!"

  • You mean A Fish Called Wanda!

  • Yes, but then i am not sure if he is.

  • lol he wrote and starred in it.

He was also in a billion other things =P

  • woooooooooooo calm down fella!!

  • @ImLonelyLinda

You calm down you stinking belgian bastard.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox I care. I'm also the man, and the they that people talk about

  • @NineTailsDemonFox people who try to find the movie movie might

  • @heinzpo no it's the guy from james bond

  • @heinzpo And Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Clockwise and MANY MORE.

  • It seems like John Cleese has made an advert for every product on earth

  • Wow.

  • wow so old tvs

  • this not the trinitron i have????

  • both looked the same

  • Trinitron, 40+ years old (back before they branded it as "Trinitron"), and still the best. LCD still can't keep up, it's utterly terrible. I really can't understand why they'd phase out CRTs other than for some contrived "energy saving" economical bullshit. A Sony GDM-FW900 is far superior to any high-end LCD in every way. Hopefully they'll hurry up and fix the reliability on OLED or do something with SED so we can phase this LCD bullshit out and get some quality displays back on the market.

  • I dont get what you're saying about energy saving being bull. but I agree with your comment on the picture quality, ive seen TVs with huge price tags that are so bad you can barely make out faces in some programs.

Have you seen the new Sony OLED TV, amazing picture quality with great energy efficientcy, plus it's only 3mm thick.

  • you can see d difference...zzz

  • I see no difference, but I think over the years the video has just been enhanced in brightness/color to the point where it blows out anything white/semi-white.

  • OI!!! STOP WRITING ON MY SHIRT!!!

  • I don't see the difference.

  • It might be badly designed(since you see no real difference at all, it reminds me of the HDTV commercials that are supposed to amaze us while watching it on a regular telly) but since it has John Cleese in it, it wins.

  • the trinitron is sharper

  • uuuuummmmmm...... I can barely see the difference.

  • me neither.
