How to add German Characters. On a PC computer (for example with Windows XP) go to the Control Panal. Click on Regional and Languages. Then on the TAB Languages. Click on German (Germany). Then Click OK. A language box will show in your TOOLBAR. If it says EN, that's English. Click on it. A List of the languages you have selected will appear. Üü is next to letter P, Ö ä are beside Letter L, ß is the English Hyphen. The y and z are switched. Good Luck.
@HesseJamez: using “ue, ae, oe” and “ss” is the official recommended alternative for people who can’t type umlauts or the sharp s with their keyboard. So, everything’s fine :)

Yeah, I am sorry for this inconvenience. However, I have managed to use the real Umlaute in the latest lesson :)

@meroba34 u can use the letter "e" following the vowel to stand in for the Umlaute.
