Shes back on the air on WOIO in Cleveland, that station is the lowest rated in Cleveland/Akron market. Plus Youngstown's WKBN has a better reputation and wants to keep it that way
@PLev20062006 Believe me I hate Bill O'Reily as much as the next guy, I just happen to agree with him (never thought I would say that). She was the face of WKBN as was Tom Holden if you remember him a while back and she embarrassed station.
@PLev20062006 She would have embarrassed any station, have you seen the photos!? Anyone could find them, she was a joke in Youngstown. I understand where your coming from but I agree of her firing.
@Wills737 Yeah, I've seen the photos - they're in this very video clip. She would have embarrassed an station run by 3-year olds (though maybe that's unfair to 3-year olds).
@PLev20062006 I doubt three year old's are running WKBN but if they are they're doing a damn good job at it. In my opinion WKBN is the best news station in the Youngstown market and I'm sure they want to keep it that way, that's why they fired her.
She did become a joke in Youngstown and around the country. He is right that those pictures are goin to haunt her forever. Google her name and look what pops up, not professional.
She was on the radio and I hear she works in Akron or cleveland now.
It's ironic that he's talking about a public image that people can trust, concerning an individual's private life activities when he himself has a foul reputation of being an outright douchebag at times, and on the air I might add.
i think oreily is a dirtbag but i agree with his argument. people on the new networks that hire them them must take into account what the public perceives when they see them on the screen. association with a wet t-shirt contest can be distracting frmo the image the network wants to communicate.

JFK did have promiscious life, however - it wasn't recorded for all to see.
The FACT is people DO judge a Media Co based on their anchors or employees appearance, PC or not. This is an attempt by CBS to maintain their "modest" image and setting aside anchors that people won't take serious. She has the right to get naked in her private life, but CBS has the right to decide if her ACTIONS discredit or tarnish THEIR image in HER public life in. this will b one 'big' mistakes of her life.
Actually, she's been back on the air in Ohio for more than a year. If anyone made a "big" mistake in this, it was O'Reilly pontificating about Bosley.
i think Bill O'Reilly doesnt need to be on the air, his so called discussions are one sided, its his way or the highway it seems. I think hes a cry baby as well, hes just too damn old to be on tv blathering his opnion that no one wants to hear
The professor had nearly two minutes of dialog out of a 4 minute interview minus the set-up. I'd say that was essentially fair bi anyone's standards as a GUEST and hardly one-sided. Try some objectivity in your analysis... my dad is ultra-liberal and he says BOR is a lot more balanced than most interviewers who have their own shows. Even though he is liberal, he can't stand Keith O as a host... he says BOR is bi far more professional and balanced - his ratings are tops from both left & right.
Exactly! And he's always raving about how he's number 1 in ratings. People don't tune in because they agree. People tune in to see the train wreck that is Bill O'Reilly, and laugh at him.
I can understand both sides of the conversation (above, not below). If I was the employer, I personally wouldn't have been significantly affected by this as long as it wasn't affecting her work negatively. Now considering that she is an anchor and is a public figure for my news station, her "image" could be partially broken by those who have heard of her entry in this contest. I wouldn't have fired the woman, but would have consulted with her reaffirming my "morals clause".
That's a reasonable position - but I still maintain that our society operates best when the private, personal lives of public figures are kept out of the public equation.
I'm no fan of Spitzer either, but - right, I think politicians should be judged on how they perform in office - I don't care about their private lives.
Bosley, by the way, committed no crimes - she was on vacation.
Well, you can count on me continuing to say all of these things - and if that serves as a role model for people who love freedom, that makes me feel even better.
I'm afraid you're the one who doesn't live in the real world, BronxBull - at least, not the real world of the 21st century. Based on your comment, you live in - when? - the middle of 19th or thereabouts? Right at around time Poe was in the park, right? :)
What's the matter, Bronx Bull - you can't have a discussion without hurling insults - typical, when you have no logic or evidence on your side. Watch the video again - pay a little more attention - I didn't say "no standards". Quite the opposite - I said newscasters should be judged on how well they do professionally (standards, got it? :) and not what they do in their personal lives.
Unfortunately, people have this idea that the free market is the dog-eat-dog world, while the government creates equitableness. It is the exact inverse. It is that need to obtain a profit within the free market that will nurture the employment of the most competent individuals, regardless of race, color, creed, etc. It is the government, which does not need to meet a profit-and-loss test, that enforces quota systems and other forms of discrimination (e.g., college degree required).
Let me preface what I am going to say by highlighting the fact that I am no Bill O'Reilly fan. However, in a state of unbridled competition (the antithesis of monopolies/cartels, i.e., the absence of competition, which the government actually creates), the news station that Catherine Bosley worked for should be able to fire anybody for any reason, but then somebody else, including Ms. Bosley herself, could work elsewhere or start a competing news station.
I like O'Reilly at times and other times I don't; in this case he makes a good point but I believe in strong privacy rights. If this had happened 15 yrs ago we would have never heard of it but with the internet things have changed.
This clip is a great showcase for O'Reilly. This is classic Bill, a man who has the most COMMON SENSE of anyone in broadcasting or political debate. He is an absolutely clear thinker and an intellectually honest debater, always willing to admit when an opponent makes a good point and working hard to make his own point with facts and logic, not with dirty tricks. Mr. Levinson was a good debater, but is a typical college professor, offering nice theories that do not work in real life.
Hmm.... thanks, but I'm pretty sure my theories work just great in real life ... and, last time I checked, my colleagues at Fordham certainly don't think I'm very "typical" ... :)
Common Sense? Clear thinker? He got completely thwarted by Richard Dawkin's, and didn't even have the intellectual clarity to comprehend how he was superseded. He even rambled on about winning the debate, later.
LOL he cut down fox news and said "You'll probably see her sluty hot ass on fox news" That SOB. I seen her pictures she has a nice body I don't believe that I would hire her for a tv job like that if she was going to run around and strip. I could see her doing News Paper work or maybe a radio news program but not a local or national tv show. Now she is going on Hustler Magazine and they are suing them for about $1.5 mill. Just like Bill said it is going to Haunt her.
The only thing wrong about being naked in "public" is if your body is ugly, but if you have a hot body everyone seems to enjoy it, even the hypocrites who protest the nudity.
Nudity is not a crime, it's how we are in our most human form.!
I think if everyone was naked the world would be a better place.
Note: This hot 40 year old reporter is still working as a news anchor at another station, so career not over.
the irony of this segment is just mindboggling. everything o'reilly says is hypocritical of what he's done in his own life. just another reason why i hate him.
bill o'reilly is the one that lives in a theoretical world. paul levinson has it right. the only thing that should matter in bosley's career is how well she performs her job.
bill orally is such a dumbass! i live in cleveland and have seen her doing the news. WOIO sends her out to do crappy segments in the ghetto now. 19 action news has to be the most tabloid piece of garbage news station ever and that is where she belongs.
People are allowed privacy, but she was in public. It was unfortunate that people recognized her and she was fired, but the discretion lay on the news station. I would rather watch the news by a beautiful woman that an old man.
I didn't say people are allowed "privacy" (which is also true) - but I said people are allowed to have "private lives" - a private life is what you do when you're not working, and so, yes, you can be in public as a private citizen - that's what Catherine Bosley was entitled to do, in my opinion...
It negatively surprises me that Americans are so far behind mentally than most Europeans. Or well, Europeans that share the same line of thought as I do. Come on, she was on vacation, she entered a wet T-shirt contest and she ended up naked. So what?
Bill O'Reilly and other "news"-casters are making it worse themselves by even bringing it up, and give it far more attention than anyone wants. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
how serious the news image wants to be, yet the ridiculous sides news (fox news in general) takes is a joke. "do you want america to win the war?" is a joke question. Going from a tabloid thirty minute show "hard copy" to being fox's #1 news show is a joke. Having a show that puts so much twists to all issue and calling it the "no spin zone" is a joke. someone tell o'rielly the punchline that tv media's decline in integrity is not that funny anymore.
That is hilarious though. You didn't know about the phone calls at the time, but BillO did and he was still saying all this. I mean in the back of his mind he had to be thinking of himself as he was spewing his BS.
And O'Reilly's sexual harrassment suit doesn't impact Fox's image? Loufa-man's hypocrisy is simply mind-blowing. The scary part is that I think he actually believes all the crap he spews.
