I agree. Though I'm not that big a fan of Ron's music I use his licks more for exercises like what he does in these demonstrations are good for workouts with tapping, hybrid picking, etc.

It's not even fair to Loureiro to be compared to Thal, looking at technical proficieny. The comparison becomes even more absurd from a songwriting viewpoint. Looking at melodies, harmonic function, rhythms, dynamics, overall theory manipulation and non diatonic elements, the immense gap Loureiro has to cross is even bigger. Round it all of with the fact that Thal is a virtuoso on the fretless, has a photographic memory for music and active absolute pitch and Loureiro can pack his bags...
