Thank you SO much for uploading this fantastic video. I have loved the B&W Minstrels since I was a boy and saw what was probably one of their last shows in Eastbournbe in 1982.
Such clever choreography and fantastic musical arrangements. You are a star. I have the CD sets do you? I got them a couple of years ago.
Thanks so much for uploading this nostalgic TV musical.
I'm downloading your series to make a VCD to share with family & friends.
Hope to see more of such.
BTW ... I'm "almost real Black" but find this TV series makes me proud that "black & white" can come together to bless so MANY LIVES of various shades.
This show used to sell to African countries and everywhere! I watched it in Nigeria. It was very popular there. Only the Americans started going on about how racist Minstrel shows were, because of their own history of theatre discrimination - and that was used as an excuse to cancel it.
I've already posted comments on Parts 1 and 5, but hey, I want my moneysworth!! Fantastic entertainment; pity we can only see it now on YouTube, but thanks to all concerned.
So the BBC is worried about racism -- but what's to prevent them for screening the non-blacked series, "Music Music Music"? And that really WAS Music All the Way, with no comedians, some of whom were awful, especially Leslie Crowther who spoilt the B&W family show by his (later) vulgarity.
I'm lucky, however, as my dad bought all the Minstrel LP records that came out. I inherited them and have them on tape... some day I'll out them on CD... and I listen to various tapes often. This is such great music, and wonderfully performed.
Anyone know whether any other B&B Minstrel shows are on YouTube? Thanks to whoever put this one up.
I too remember the whole family viewing the show weekly... and that was in Trinidad where it was a favourite in the 60's and 70's. Great music knows no PCness. This was an artistic mode and expression. I'd love to see all the shows again... come on BBC!!!
I just love it! As a child, the whole family used sit down together to enjoy this show. Seeing it again now makes me realise what a magical show it was; simply brilliant and wonderful clean entertainment.
Give me that any day compared to the awful glitsy pretentious celebrity wanabee 'reality' shows we are force fed with today! Now we get about 10 minutes of actual performance in a show largely full of people mouthing off about how great they think they are!!!!
A poignant end to a spectacularly popular show. As a teenager I loved the songs, the glamour, the dancing and never considered any racist or other overtones at the time.
Why kill a great programme for greasepaint? Love to see these shows on DVD.
Fantastic. Brings back happy memories. OMG if the PC brigade saw this. Ha ha. Sod them. I loved these shows when I was young. Thank you so much. I have downloaded them to enjoy.
THANKS ! When, o when will the shows be released on DVD? It's incredible that anyone could censor this entertaining and harmless show! "Honi soit qui mal i pense"
Thanks for the thanks! I'm afraid we will NEVER see these episodes again. I have it on good authority that the BBC have them ALL on tape locked away, too racist for todays Britain, what a pity..
@atlantic1952 Ignoring the offensive cariciture of black men the music is so bland and boring and old fashioned that I don;t see why anybody would want to watch this nonsense. I accept it was not meant to be racist by intent however how would you feel watching this if you were black?
why is this cosiderd rasist?

It demonstrated how black and white could join together. Why don't white people (Esp British White) have free speech anymore?
