this was my first enlistment in 1991, and again in 1995. and yes you can get jump school being a scout. although i found air assault school much more useful.

pretty close. but they dont train you on the Stryker unless you are getting stationed with a Stryker unit. Thats another 2 weeks in Fort Knox. All in all it isnt bad 16 weeks of some of the hardest and most fun training around.

"In demand by employers" is pure bullshit. Any kid thats ever played video games is qualified enough, maybe even more. As a 19D you dont get to shoot that shit all the time - its expensive. And not all 19D call in strikes, ride mounted with Mk19, .50 cal, use hitech comm, do MOUT, etc. You might be assigned a desk job, clean motorpools, act more as a 88M. It all depends on your skills and what needs to be done. Every cavalry unit is different as is leadership. Go airborne and ranger asap.

well if you do airborne and ranger on top of cav scout and then add SF to the list that's one badass soldier...and like they say, even if you flunk outta SF or ranger, you learn a lot more than someone who didn't take the chance. but yea scouts kick ass!

@blahgli I conducted over 300 combat operations, most of which were raids, and it's listed in my ARCOM award. In fact, my unit dismounted more in the history of the Iraq war than any other unit, regardless of branch. MOST scouts will be homo-cavalry units and ride strikers like a bunch of pogs. If you're lucky, you'll get sent to a LRS or airborne RSTA unit.

No, its not a scout thing. MP's do it, Infantry does it. Hell any MOS can do it so long as their MTOE Allows for a .50 and humvee.
