I had a schipperke for 11 years or so named Ricky. They are great dogs. But I think there's a couple things you should know- #1-they are always up in your bizness-#2 they are kind of like cats, they will do what you want most of the time, not all of the time.
Wow a bit shocked I own a female one for 15 1/2 years and she wasn't a barker and I have a new female one now had her since she was 3 months old and she is a year and a half now and she isn't a barker as well. She barks when she hears something outside that's about it. I do agree they are a small dog with a big dog attitude. Either way these dogs are so awesome and adorable. I have two little boys and she is great with them as well.
one of my Schipperke's fought with a husky and won... They maybe small but they do have a big dog attitude.. and they are cranky.... Also they main problem with her gettting away is she won't come back for an hour...
I am praying for a Red frosted chacolate Schipperke female fixed in Heaven. And I will name her "Roachclip" ! I got to have something to love in Heaven . I have it . It is mine , in the name of Jesus !!! 420
My friend had one in the 90's. Little "Bear" was not a barker. He told me: A little dog with a big dog attitude ! I was shocked when this guy said the exact words, cool ! Born rat killer !!!!
@tawnyboo80 when we got out pup schipperke he would bark ALOT. we bought a muzzle, wait i know this sounds bad, but. we would give the command Quiet and put the muzzle on for a couple min. then take it off again. when ever he would bark for no reason we would follow the same routine. now he is 8 yrs old. when you say quiet he stops instantly. this training only took about 2 days. they are a very smart breed.

Oh god mine are barkers. Howlers too. We're working on "Quiet" command.

Mine is a barker unfortunately and a howler when the phone rings. He has got worse since we got a new pup - I think they compete.

I used to show this Breed for AKC,,,,, My father had the most best in shows for the schipperke,, ( 1974 --Shadow / Dark Star )

OMG!! I need your help!!! My Schipperke barks at everything and I dont know what to do. I tell him quiet and he stops...then starts all over...HELP
