  • Good video.

  • talking about 2408wfp, its noticeable for everyone. and its horrible...

  • It is subjective.

I feel input-lag very strong and I hate it.

It's not the same for everyone. You just have to try it.

  • I just bought one of these and I play some decent games and the 60ms (or is it 30ms?) isn't a big deal to be honest. There are more important things in the world than how fast a gun fires after you press the button :)

  • hmm i'm trying to think of more important things

    *scratches head*

  • i hawe to agree with you, but its not 60 its 6

  • no, it is 60

  • where can i get this simultaneous stopwatch thing to test my dual crt-lcd setup?

  • its not about if you can detect it with the naked eye.. I play a ton of Halo 3, and i recently went from a CRT to a LCD and at first with standard Def cables.. the LAG was Tremendous.. it was only about 40ms but it felt like I would turn with my controller and it was sooooo much later on screen.. once all my HD cables hooked up,it made it much better. tho still at 5ms its not noticeable, but it still feels a bit different then playing on a CRT or with VGA cables lag is reduced even further.

  • Specifications and artificial tests are not very helpful. Test with your eyes.

  • I was thinking about buying this monitor today.. ITStuff08... Other than the input lag.. Would you recommend it? I'm in the market for a 24" That has all those inputs but if I'm going to spend 700+ I want to get the bang for my buck here

  • what`s the conclusion and which one is faster?

  • The ViewSonic is around 30ms faster than the Dell. In practice this means that the ViewSonic is ~30ms behind reality and the Dell is ~60ms behind reality.

In a game, this equates to being 4 frames behind what is really going on (@60Hz).

  • but what can the human eye detect up to? only 20 fps?

  • it has got nothing to do with fps.

Game wise, it means that you see images 60ms later, and react 60ms later than an opponent who is using a crt monitor. After you have clicked the mouse button, you will only see your shot on screen when it appears 60ms later.

  • go ahead and count 60ms for me.

  • Then why don't we all use TN and VA monitors, and trash those ridiculous CRTs? If no one uses CRTs, no one has an 'advantage'! To anyone out there wondering about input lag ask yourself this "Do I play games professionally". No, you probably don't, so don't sweat it. But a nice PVA and enjoy the superior picture.

  • the human eye can detect around 80fps, try to play a game at 80fps, then let it drop to 60fps, u will notice it directly

  • 72*

  • @kaosbeats It is estimated that the human eye is actually sensitive to upwards of 140 (fps/hz)...

  • but what can the human eye detect up to? only 20 fps?

  • you totally missed the point. it is about reaction, not your perspective.

Let me illustrate my point. A friend wants you to join him for a hiking trips. He sends you a sms but the phone company screws up, so your sms reaches you one month later. By the time you reply, he would have gone for his hiking trip.

phone company->slow monitor, figure the rest yourself

  • dude i cant do complex equations.

  • DELL FTW!!!!

  • The average human reaction time to visual stimuli is 180-200ms. I don't think 30 is going to make a noticeable difference.

  • 180-200ms AFTER seeing the image.

30ms in that case is a noticeable amount in fast twitch games. Some people are more sensitive to this than others.

Also compare games at 30fps to games at 60 fps. They only have approximately 16ms difference between each other but in many games where speed and reaction is important (like driving games for instance) this small time difference is very noticeable.
