I am not a huge Obama fan, but people do need to relieve Regan is largely to blame for the financial crisis. Regan's deregaulation of the banking industry allowed banks to cross state lines and expand to the large "too big to fail" status of today. Keep in mind as you know that before you stood there in Germany that when Reagan was in office they had "Checkpoint Charlie" which meant nobody crossed into East Germany without really good reasons and if you tried you were shot immediately. I am not a huge Obama fan, but people do need to relieve Regan is largely to blame for the financial crisis. Regan's deregaulation of the banking industry allowed banks to cross state lines and expand to the large "too big to fail" status of today. Regan was an eloquent speaker and had some decent policies but the culture of complete deregulation of the financial industry (continued under Clinton and Both Bushes) has had a large impact of our current economic status.

Solidarity, a Polish Pope, communications technology, and the Soviet war in Afghanistan, (ALL of which predate the start of Reagan's presidency) had just as much to do with the Soviet collapse, not to mention Gorbachev, Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, and every other American president, soldier, and civilian that fought the Cold War. Reagan did his share for sure, but we now know that by the time he became president, the Soviet Union was going bankrupt.

I have seen lasik surgery fall from 10,000$ per eye, to 2,000$ in just 6 years with many competing firms offering lower prices still. The Average American earns 13,000$ more than similarly developted countries and despite being only 5% of the world's population, represent 26% of it's GDP.

We owned three cars, several TVs, never wanted for food or medical attention, had high speed internet, and a very nice apartment.

Obama is not a communist, an asshole, but not a communist. He isn't going around stressing worker revolutions, and the conquering of the "oppressive bourgousie" by the proltetariat and of the abolition of private property and all the other bullshit that Marx and Lenin were for.
Obama can be described best as a Social Democrat, which is a more moderate form of Socialism more prevalent in Europe

I live in Canada. I am a mixedconservative. I kow that the system that We, the United States, Canada, and the Western World, live in is not perfect. Not everyone has a job, not every has food, but The Idea of Communism on Paper is a hellova lot better than the system we have right now. Every one (exept the politburo) is equal. Sounds a little ungrateful coming from a person from Germany. Had it not been for Reagan, the Soviet Union would have exerted its influence on Europe a lot longer. The Poles erected statues of the man in their country; and rightly so. He helped them shake off the chains of Soviet oppression.

1) He ended the crisis of stagflation and malaise, restoring our country to prosperity and self-confidence.
2) He cut taxes and reduced the size of government.
3) He rebuilt America's military strength and won the Cold War.
4) He lent dignity to the office, unlike a more recent ex-president one could name.

WOW! Reagan wasnt afraid of anything! This one was one his crucial moments, could not have been done better. I cant imagine if Carter would have been re-elected in 1980, then Mondale in 84? I bet that wall would still be standing today. Well.. after the disaster of Carter we got Reagan. Could history repeat itself? Could another leader be waiting for 2012 to come around? I bet there is. We will never get this type of leadership promoting freedom for all peoples in the world while The Community Organizer is in the White House. He, like all liberals, want to talk about freedom, but will not make the sacrifice to make it happen. We won't see support for freedom until a Conservative is elected in 2012 then taking office in 2013. People of the world hold on as Obama will be defeated and we will once again support freedom for all peoples as Reagan talked about in his career.

We need only look as far back as this week when the President of France, President Sarkozy, stands up for democracy and speaks out against Iran in support of the demonstrators for democracy in Iran. Obama preferred to avoid "meddling" in Iran affairs until forced by real leaders of democracy to speak out. Obama is a weak leader and the world knows it.
