Quake has historical value for videogames as one of the first 3D-shooters. Almost everyone who is using PC played videogames, and you should have heard of Quake :P It's recognizable with ease for almost monochrome design and gothic world

@TheBeeseik As far as I know yes, I know for a fact that the first Modern Warfare was still using bits of it, and if you check out the details for MW2 they're still paying licensing to id for the engine. It's so heavily modified at this point it's certainly not recognizable though

I think having gaming related featured articles on wikipedia is great, because its a medium that is still ignored by a lot of the mainstream, especially among older people, but being a featured wikipedia article i was expecting something better.

They should have made a featured article about machinima generally because i dont think a non gamer who looks at this is exactly gonna be blown over by it. In fact it might put them off looking into machinma which is a pity as theres some great films
