hey im just wondering what is better on an mk3 2.0 supercharger or turbocharger because i have heard a lot of people say that its really hard to get a turbo running right on this cars, is it the same with a supercharger?
I think at that point I had spent 1800 on the charger kit, 800 on the front mount, and 1,100 on the ecu. These chargers are becoming hard to source since BBM stopped getting shipments into the US.
Well, there are a lot of customers that have the stage three kit that aren't seeing the 220+ hp claimed. Also, I was running a very mild tune with the engine management. I will post another video this summer since I was since rebuilt the motor with lower compression, forged pistons so I can safely handle the boost.
no way man, I'd be iffy to touch 15 psi with stock stuff, I've got mine jacked up to 22 right now but thats not stock, trust me bud you'll wish you hadn't
the stock internals can hold a lot of boost. i know of a mk2 golf that ran 11s boosted with stock internals. now theyre all forged, and they rn 10.2 ;)
the mk3 internals from the ABA 2.0 engine can handle boost well. Without touching anything, you can toss 10 psi at it and make ~200 bhp so long as the fuel injection can handle it. With a cylinderhead spacer and some engine work, the factory forged internals and silicone nitride coated crank can handle 28+ psi. Water/meth injection helps and OBDI is a plus because of the oil squirters for the pistons.
solid numbers! those rims make me dizzy watching. how much did the entire turbo kit + install cost ya? can you safely run up to or around 25PSI? stock internals?
Well the "kit" runs about $3,500. Plus the standalone which was 1,100. The largest pulley they offer is 22psi and unless you have good tuning than stock internals would not be recommended.
what year is that jetta?

is it fast??
MasterAMD09 2 years ago
It was pretty quick. Not as quick as a VR6T but quick enough to have fun. It's faster now with a T3 .60 48r.
zorba2727 2 years ago
@zorba2727 whats t3.60 48r
MasterAMD09 2 years ago
the size of the turbo. It's a Garrett T3 60 trim, with a .48 exhaust housing side.

yeah yeah, I'm catching up. Finally got the little T3 finished. Just needs more tuning.

u got had if that is a stage 3 unless its just the charger and nothing else... cause u should be up in the 300 with a stage 3
thelostrida 3 years ago
a stage one could get u 240 to the wheels
thelostrida 3 years ago
doesnt the stage 1 put out like 150hp. so how does stage 3 only put out 193. i thought it would be around 250-300hp.

All that power into the front wheels, it must suffer from bad torque steer.
