Walking around with weights all day strengthen the legs and when they are removed it results in a feeling of lightness. As a fighter this allows you to move better and improves your balance as well as the speed of your kicks.

As far as bar chords are concerned if you don't try to play bar chords routinely you'll never be able to. Granted playing all your song barred is not going to be fun, because lets face it as a beginner bar chords are frustrating. I think they should learn to play both.

@hellwroughtangel I totally agree that both are good to master. However, some teachers and players let ego get in the way of teaching where is does NOT belong. Weightlifting is all about lifting heavy weights. Music is about melody, harmony and rhythm.

@bowwowminesss it's really difficult. try to press your finger on a string and than play. if you're doing it right you hear the strings clear.. otherwise you have to go on with studying. ;) good luck.

@peaceinndout2009 I have been playing guitar for 2 years now and I have some advice, please, please god, please practice. 30 mins a day, leave your guitar where you see it so that you can pick it up easily when you are bored, practice. For the past 2 years I have made excuses not to practice and I kept leaving it for last, don't. I could be much better than I am right now ( I'm not bad, but I could be much better) but I didn't practice that much. Play whenever you can. :)

feel the song and your strumming of wrist will flow with it. I never ask for strumming pattern bcoz for me there's no exact pattern all through out the song it varies and for me the easiest way is to FEEL the song and let your wrist strums with it. hope that helps. :)
