  • 2:30 what is that note? Anyone with the piano or absolute ear? :)

  • Swedish guys wrote that one cool

  • Yes Ms. Aretha I have been in love, in love with your god-filled voice for as long as i can remember. thanks for always bringing a song to life like nobody, I mean nobody can! God will take care of u. and we love and pray for u!

  • This is why she's The Queen and the greatest ever. She does everything better than everyone else.

  • @1cd2201: You can't feel Aretha because you have no soul nor talent. You can never compare Celine Dion to Aretha, because they are in two different classes. Rolling Stone has Aretha at the top of the list as all time greatest, now run and see that and where Celine ranked. Celine to me is just loud, but she lacks depth and soul. People like you who are talentless can't relate to Aretha because you are dead inside. You are not even qualified to even speak on Aretha. She was,is and shall be the Queen.

  • You're RIGHT TheQueenAretha. Only Aretha FRANKLIN. Céline DION who is she in the music HISTORY?

  • I am not agree with anyone, I think Aretha is a excellent singer and she's one of the greatest of music hisrory, but Celine Dion also is an excellent singer and she also is one of the greatest ever singer of music history.

    @yaskam

  • This blows Celine's crappy little version out the water. Aretha drenches everything in soul, while Celine takes it all away.

  • Celine Dion does it pretty better

  • @CDionSpain No she doesn't.

  • @TheQueenAretha i say, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, is it not?we all know she's the queen, so there's no use defending aretha so blatantly.

i prefer celine's version but they both did a good job, and that's simply an opinion, not an absolute fact.

    warfreak.

  • @darrenriccs Who the hell are you?

  • @TheQueenAretha someone who just lovin chickens, not wearin 'em, bitch.

  • @darrenriccs What the fuck does that suppose to mean? Fuck off!

  • @TheQueenAretha well just accept the fact that aretha's not the best in everything.she's the queen, yes, but there are some songs she cannot touch. i'd cut my finger if she can sing alone by heart though..lol

  • @darrenriccs No one said that Aretha is the best in everything but she is the greatest singer of the 20th century along with Ella Fitzgerald. As for this song, Aretha trumps Celines version 100 fold. Aretha has showed time and time again that there is nothing she can't sing.

  • @TheQueenAretha well if that's your opinion then i would respect it..i'm just trying to point out that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, so please don't smash 'em.

  • @darrenriccs Whatever!

  • defeated.. :p

  • @darrenriccs Look, i really don't give a fuck.

  • @TheQueenAretha fails.

  • @darrenriccs Loser get a fucking life. It's over dude, like for real.

  • @TheQueenAretha ok. flibbertigibbet.

  • U GUYS R ASSHOLES.....CELINE SANG IT PERFECTY.....so did aretha...she sang it different than celine....celines emotion is different so comparing two queens like aretha and celine is usseles, pointeless and idiotic....stop doing it.....moron

  • @filigrant exactly these aretha fans are such stans, celines version is beautiful, they need to stop hating and get a life. I love aretha, but celines version is just as good.

  • Aretha was great here. Aretha is great when she wants to be.....

  • This is great job but I like Celines version better

  • This is the soundtrack from the movie with Wesley Snipes and Angela Bassett. I can' t think of it right now. Anyway it' s my favorite by Aretha Franklin album. Again Aretha is a magnificent!!! singer back then and still now.

  • What???? No this is not the song from the Waiting to Exhale soundrack. This is a totally different song. I think you're talking about It Hurts like Hell.

  • As much as i like Celine Dione she just didn't work it like Aretha did....Aretha makes you feel it deep down inside. This is one of performances where i fell in love with the song after one time hearing it. Aretha is indeed in a class all by herself.....Celine just can't make you feel it like this.

  • Aretha!! I've always loved your ability to reach me down deep!! your are a Queen and an inspiration to me! Singing one of your songs in a musical and honored to do so!! Hope I do you proud! much love and respect! a long time fan..May God continue to Bless you and that unbelievable voice! Stay blessed my sista!! sending you sum warm hugzzz from New York...

  • Aretha was in exceptionally good voice during this concert; her top free (listen how she soars at 2:32) and her tone very fresh for a woman her age. She did two arias that night, both by Puccini - Nessun dorma with all the top notes, and an impressive O mio babbino Caro. Ahmet Ertegun was in attendance.

  • I have been one of the Queens biggest fans since the mid 1980's. I went back and listened to all her Atlantic work and Columbia Work, too. I have heard everything that is commercially available. I have seen her live 4 or 5 times. This reading is one of her finest moments. It ranks up there with Ain't No Way, Ain't Nothing like the real thing, Somethin' He Can Feel, Nat. Woman and God Will Take Care of You. Love for our Queen! Long live The Queen. I wish this were on CD; but, I'm glad it's here.

  • I haven't had the good fortune of being in love as of yet, but this song and Ms. Franklin's interpretation causes my heart to ache for it. The Lady Soul indeed.

  • My three all time favorites Tina,Beyonce&Aretha 4ever!!!!!!!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 wow... please don't place Aretha and Tina with that trash

  • you what go F***K yourslef alright!!! Its not Beyonces fault that she's the top female artist of her generation !!!!!!!

  • I just cried watching this!!!

  • If anyone has seen the movie "The Rocker"< there is a funny line that says "They play Celine Dion in elevators, but that doesn't make it right" lol, of course, if they played Aretha covering this song it would more than alright.

  • Some of us Aretha Franklin thoroughly enjoy Aretha through her entire career, as we realize the voice and the style remains the same with the Queen

  • You can say that again Zeb. Thats why she is the Queen.

  • This is breathtaking. Aretha never failed to amaze me.

  • Unbelievable. This is too awesome!

  • great music dude 5*

  • SHE SOUND SO CUTE IN THE 80S

  • When you hear Aretha's VOICE : What feeling of fullness and universality!

  • Just one WORD!: GENIUS.

  • Celine become famus, on the European Song contest, year i dont know, but she participate s a Franch...even she lived all her life in Canada...that was her rising star....and that fat, older husband??? I love him???***jeah ....as we all do...fat, almost dead, and worth milions...katch me if u can...i'm on market

  • ok ur point is why r u comparing r even mention celine on an aretha franklin video makes no sense

  • who told u this was a original celine song

  • this song is on Celine's album A New Day Has Come.

  • i know that celine is sth very different than aretha.what you say she is copy and all these bulsh.. are totally silly.celine is perfect, also aretha.that's all.

  • Aretha is the real thing and Celine is a copy of the real thing and never mistake again of comparing the two of them. If Celine lived 1000 years she will never match the talent of an Aretha Franklin. Aretha gave this world something to remmeber, her music never grows old. Long after Celine is dead and gone people will be playing Aretha's music..so go buy yourself a clue. Aretha is the TRUTH when it comes to singing and most talentless people can't comprehend that.

  • amen

  • I nveer really cared for this song until Retha sang it. Celine is incapable of expressing the words like Aretha. Only Aretha can go in and out of octaves like that. Only Aretha.

  • wow.... i cant believe aretha has picked quite a contemporary celine song to cover, she must have really loved it. its nice, she has once again, applied soul to anothers song. i love celines version, alot, its melodic and powerful, and typically celine, and this in nice too, typically aretha. great performers... not to be compared.

  • yes celines is cleaner, and a more executed pop song, but even in her 60s arethas range shows her up, and her feeling and timing passes screamine by miles.

  • She had us crying when she did this song in Chicago back in 06!!...She does need to record this song!!

  • When I saw her in in LA 2006 @ the Gibson Theatre, this song was THE highpoint of a totally excellent show. The poor sound on this youtube version prevents one from fully experiencing the heart-breaking effect Aretha had on me and the entire audience. Clive Davis, who sat directly behind me, was sobbing but so were my fiends and I. I am sure he's seen her quite a few times, but her delivery of this song was a truly spiritual event.

  • Does anyone know where I can find the chords to this song?

  • I love this! :)

  • I think that she loves the challenge of singing other people songs.

    she makes it her own.

  • I saw her sing a perfect total concert in LA,

the same year, and I thought this song was THE highlight. I didn't even know it was a Celine Dion song. People were cryin and flyin at the same time.

  • Celine Dion did record this song. Everybody knows that.

  • Don't be silly!!@@ Peter Cetera didn't sing this one at all!!!it's another song, totally different track, just got the same title.

  • She sounds unbelievable. Just imagine the old aretha singing this, man that would be breathtaking. She has some very good phrasing.

  • This is incredible, she needs to record this live and put it out on cd....really the best she has done in years...thx to the person who put it on the utube. I went to see her five times just to hear her sing this song. She sang it three of the five times. I get emotional each time I hear it...right on Aretha.

  • Wow~ she sang Celine's song,it's a nice idea for her to do this one, sounded just like her very own song, those high notes in the middle r wonderful, you go,Aretha !

  • Unbelievable. This is too awesome! She sounds fabulous!

  • The tone of her voice was crisp and complete. Nice performances back in 2005.
