What are Roland playing at releasing garbage like this, looks like a classic mc202 but full of toy sounds? The only thing going for it is the filtering.
@maccagrabme Seriously, that is a dumb comment, and where the hell have you been? this came out over ten years ago. This was a delight in its day. When this came out it was a breath of fresh air to poor electronic musicians who were frustrated with membrane buttons and complex sub menus. Honestly considering what these go for you really have no room to complain. You keep your 1 grand MC-202, i will gladly take a 100 buck 303 and spend my money on better things. :P
@mediawasteland What I meant was it was the start of Roland and its dumbing down selling toys regime. I understand that it was accessible to those on limited budgets but to be honest you would have been better off with a mc202, 707 and Juno 6 for a similar price back then as there is no comparison in sound.
@maccagrabme Well of course, but i remember clearly paying more in the 90's for those instruments. The 707 was fairly cheap, you could find one for 30 to 50. But the MC202 and Juno 6! Nah, forget it, trance was already big by the time the MC-303 came out, the Juno 6 was even more sought after then than it is now thanks to Juno Reactor, etc. And the MC202 was also another sought after unit, i would have gladly traded my MC-303 for both of those.
@mediawasteland These are not the best sounding things, fine, but they are an incredible value for what they do. I can not think of another single instrument other than a PC which you can get for that cheap and just start writing. Ok, to put this in perspective, A Casio SK-1 goes for, what? like 30+ bucks now adays. But! you can pick up a MC-303 easily for 150. 150! Now, the SK-1 is a toy, a straight up toy, yes it is fun as all hell, but just a toy. Regardless, i loved mine.
LOL yeah, just do it. Even Cakewalk Soner has the Roland sounds in their producer edition. I some times use some of the sounds off the mc303 and record them as audio in cubase and then see what wacky stuff I can do with it on a track.
Great old synthesized beats if you're wanting to use an old stylized feel for av. Haven't heard this sound for so long. What sound format? Don't want to sound ignorant but can the format be adapted to 44'000KHZ?
Hi, the mC was recorded into Windows Moviemaker as a wave file using a M-audio fasttrack pro, in stereo. The audio won't be above 44KHZ. The AV file is at the highest quality selection and uploaded as a WMV file to youtube. Hope this helps.
your videos with drum machines are very cool!!
this one and the one on the Yamaha Rx5 are the best on youtube. You should continue to do more videos about such types of gear.
