We Black people have been "coding" our music since slavery time when we got all excited singing "God put a rainBOAT" (rainBOW") in the sky. I still see Whites who listen to that song think we are saying rainBOW. It still works!! And once we sang it, we were able to "Steal Away" to Jesus on the Underground Railroad. :) :) Even some Blacks who don't know their history don't get it.
Larry ain't nothin' but an "OLD UNCLE TOM SELL-OUT" period, point blank--- case closed. If he knew and understood the truth about what Jr. was expressing in this song it was about his people wanting BETTER CONDITIONS under the hands of their OPPRESSORS, the so-called WHITE MAN who was lynching, killing, murdering and raping the so-called BLACK MAN and WOMAN. Even Jr. said " Black Man liv'in' across the track--White man on the other sided holding him back"--- TEA PARTY=KKK--- nothin's changed!!
hookalakah, I was introduced to this song as being Larry Elder's theme music. Isn't Larry great?! I got to meet him at a party a few weekends ago. Today on the radio, he explained that he plays this on his show because it was one of his mom's favorite songs.
the black man wasnt the only one on the wrong side of the track being held back take that from an ol white trash mill hill boy i grew up on this music
Why is it that when I switch on the radio in my car I get Africa by Toto ,or some tune by Queen ,when there are great tunes like this that never get played?
