  • oh very old

  • You really get around on that set..as I said on video # 2 you are a great teacher.I don't have a drum set,but I plan to get one soon!!Thanks for making quality videos!!

  • Thanks dude, this helps a lot with my fluency as you know mine arent very fluent yet.

  • You're welcome! Glad it was of some help to you.

  • I have a question/comment about the cross over technique. I see how it would help your fluency, but is it really practical? I mean, wouldn't it be alot more practical to learn to lead with your off hand, so that situation doesn't occur? I just want your response in that regard. Thanks, man!

  • Yeah, I guess it can be overused--which isn't practical then, just showy. But I do feel it is practical to learn how to cross hands without impact, because you never know when you may need to. And if you can't, then you may limit yourself, (or tie yourself in a knot trying!) I use it alot in solos for show. Just another tool to have if needed, I guess. Kind of like that short, spare screwdriver that's good for tight places only. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching, too.

  • how big are you on stick grip, some days i just pick the sticks up and play how my hands comfortably grab them and other days I just play with proper technique

  • Not big. I use matched because of the size of my set and that I play lefty. But sometimes, I hold them without thumbs, to warm up my wrists. Or play with my forefinger on top of the stick to practice control. Sometimes I hold them between my 1st 2 fingers (if my thumbs swell up before getting fully warmed up), etc. Whatever feels comfortable and gives you the best control is what's best. But I do suggest trying lots of grips to find the right one. Good luck!

  • i just switched my set's setup like yours 2 days ago, it feels really wierd. i used to have the iron maiden setup

  • Cool. Switched how, from righty to lefty? Or switched the ride to the center from one side? Forgive my ignorance but, what's the Iron Maiden set-up?

  • The sound of the toms makes me crazy!

  • is your snare drum a marching snare

  • One of the snares I use on my set is a marching snare that I put legs on, with matching FIBES hardware. I like the crisp, tight sound. Thanks for watching!

  • THX THX THX man!

  • YRWLCM YRWLCM YRWLCM! Glad it was helpful.

  • YRWLCM?

    Hmm.. i don't understand it :P

  • Sorry. It's not accepted web jargon, but I was just abbreviating, "You're Welcome" in response to your abbreviated "Thanks". Have a great day!

  • ok :D

    Thank you!

Have a great day, too! :)

  • Hey Dave, nice videos. They are very helpful. I hope you keep it up! You are welcome for the free test drive of my snares. I do wish that I had done some rolls and rim-shots. That is a really good idea. If I ever get more snares I will do that for the next video. Thanks and take care!

    Bill

  • Great exercises for sure!

  • These one helped me a lot!

  • thanks man, I've been drummin for about 4 years now but your training really helped me get forward much faster :)

  • Great! That's what they're up here for. People have helped me along the way, so now it's my turn to reciprocate. Glad it was helpful.

  • nice cross over exercise. another very helpful video. thanks a bunch

  • Great practice exercises. Thanks.

  • No problem. Just watched your Chili Pepper's cover. Real smooth! Meter is great. Doesn't look like you really need much more practice!

  • Oh thanks, but I need a lot more practice. Time signatures, fills, basically all of my rudiments, hand-feet independence, speed, the list goes on... lol

  • As do we all!
