  • incredible... just incredible! Could listen to this all day!

  • Is it just me or does the lead go cross-eyed at 6:10

  • @MrDualock Yeah, that's kinda Joe's thing, watch any video of him singing, with Platinum, Keepsake, WFQ, Interstate Rivals, or ANYONE, he always does that xD

  • Stephen Fry singing bass.

  • Holy shit... Mindfucked by that bass. Lol.

  • chip kelly? 2nd from left?............

  • @gambet11 chips the tenor, I think. all the way to the left.

  • wow just amazing

  • Amazing......Pure talent.....My husband and I have five children. If I had discovered these guys years ago....maybe six, seven, eight? There will always be people who appreciate such gifts. Hats off to you gentlemen.....Thank you.

  • Their lead falls flat on the tag of the first song. very sad.

  • @TJayGrams plus the bass went a little sharp at that last chord and got really nasaly. also very sad

  • chills!

  • Some weird faces being pulled here

  • @singel12 That how you do barbershop. You have to be very expressive so everyone can see you.

  • Is it just me or is the second song just Freudian enough to give someone the creeps?

  • where do i sign up?

  • @XboxFactorAU Bass is the lowest voice part. Baritones are the second lowest. I say this as a baritone.

  • @IsaacSumizone Thanks for the clarification.

  • We don't give a fuck about your age. It doesn't make you a better person if you like old music being young. And this shit is awesome.

  • @chemoman1 i'm 29 and i've loved listening to barbershop quartets since i was 14. my dad introduced me to a lot of great music. I always wanted to sing one in choir in high school but......never happened.

  • @TrAkMan83 Comment was directed towards people trying to be cool by stating their age and their preference of music. It's like going around saying "I'm poor, and I love caviar" aka snobbery. I did not feel superior because i liked led zep while the rest of my peers listened to britney spears or whatever. Your example is ok because it has a context, not just "I'm so cool cause im 12 and i like barbershop quartets"

  • These guys are just unreal, that last note can't help but give me chills every time I here it, it is just perfect harmony. Pardon me, now I have to go watch the rest of there stuff.

  • Holy cow, what a bass! And I love overtones! Awesome tuning!

  • that bass is a beast

  • Can you guys help me settle an argument between my friend and I . Are baritone and bass the same or not ? Thanks guys/gals

  • @jcoolcahill Baritone and Bass are separate parts... usually the lineup is tenor-lead-baritone-bass and often the voices in the middle can swap notes. A baritone may off catch what would be a tenor part or drop below bass at times.

  • @jetson888 they line up tenor lead bass baritone, putting the most important parts on the mic.

  • @jcoolcahill No, they are not. Baritone is lower. As low as low can go, I believe.

  • @XboxFactorAU You are dead wrong. and stupid.

  • @ChrisisBass13 I'm 16, am I meant to know this shit? No, I'm not. Why don't you go use your Keyboard Warrior skills elsewhere mate. Fuck off into the dubstep section, go teach music lessons there.

  • @XboxFactorAU lol man. Im 16, and I listen to this genre, Jazz, and Classical. If you dont know the answer to the question, dont answer incorrectly. Dubstep is shit by the way.

  • @XboxFactorAU but good comebacks, even though they (as well as your facts), were dead wrong.

  • @jcoolcahill bass and baritone are not the same. Bass is lower.

  • I love listening to this :'D

  • 00:56 the seventh heaven :)

  • Dat bass

  • i fucking love this, amazing talent!

  • seriously awesome

  • Excellent bass!!

  • How did Jazz beat this genre out? I listen to barbershop on Pandora radio.

  • @FCIV63 I think because when jazz was gaining popularity, they played it in speakeasies and people wanted to drink and dance there. It's a lot easier to dance to jazz than barbershop. Barbershop and vocal harmony styles contributed to the evolution/ creation of doo wop, which was very popular for a long time. Though I agree; I'm surprised barbershop doesn't have a bigger general following.

  • @TheBassMan6379 True! Dancing in clubs is quite popular even today, only the music has changed drastically....

  • It is really cool, but they have a rapist look on tere face

  • @virtualxv That's called presentation...

  • Very impressive !!! I loved it !!

  • Nice Bass

  • i want to be able to do this.

  • Am I going crazy or did they do I Want A Girl in the finals last year? Is that common, to do the same song, however slightly revised, two years in a row?

  • @billb0925 Yes. Very much so.

  • @billb0925 At the international contest you have to do a total of 6 songs throughout the week. It's difficult to get all new material in one years time and have it tip top contest ready. Typically, you learn a few new ones and keep your best scoring songs. We learned 3 new ones and kept 3 from the year before. I Want A Girl has always scored very well....and this was the first round, pared with a new song.

  • @mkippbuckner Thanks, Kipp, and I'm honored to hear directly from someone with such a storied reputation in the genre. I have been a fan of barbershop since my dad and his brothers sang at family gatherings when I was a kid. I've heard lots of different versions of "I Want A Girl" and still prefer the old school songs. I was glad to see you get another gold in the quartet contest and will be watching for your next one.

  • Clean bass!!! His voice fills the air so to speak.

  • That sounded fantastic! Now for the technical question. Does anyone know the type of microphone that was used?

  • i am digging the two center guys facial expressions during this whole thing. Also had a great sound overall

  • Now *thats* a bass.

  • That BASS IS INSANE!!! Incredible range!

  • @OzarkHarp11 I second that.

  • 1:43

    Dat FAce

  • Kipp Buckner...nuff said!

  • Fucking gerry adams at the start?

  • Fucking gerry adams at the start?

  • Their expressions make it 11x better.

  • Much enjoyed, thank you for sharing with us.

  • The note the bass hit at 2:36 is absolutely ridiculous. So clean yet so low. That man is a monster.

  • @wasdare32 Yeeah, a bottom D, I think (apologies if I'm wrong). It's ridiculous, I can get to that D, but I'm nowhere near as resonant and strong as Beast is, he's brilliant!

  • @Jackman24601 I think its an Eb. Not extremely low, but still impressive.

  • @Snyder7077 My bad, sorry, still, an Eb's pretty low.

  • I think Beast may be THE best bass ever, his voice is so rich and strong, he makes me proud to be a bass :')

  • @Jackman24601 Listen to Jeff oxley or jim henry. Or listen to old schools bass. (i forget his name at the moment)

  • @BHS2011able It's Joe Krones

  • @kd5tmu Thanks!

  • they make funny faces

  • Glenn Beck can sing?

  • @TheBromosome ???

  • Comment removed

  • The bass looks constipated but they did a great job

  • @2Gooseberry I don't think the point is to express themselves with their looks as much as they do with their singing..

  • @2Gooseberry ????

  • WHATTA FINISH!

  • Put Elvis Presley with these guys and you got a hit...a gospel hit to say

  • As a teenager just introduced to barbershop, other music just doesnt compare...

    (Tim Waurick is god)

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......... 1year later.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddd

  • simply awesome....on a side note, the guy second to the right looks kinda like Patrick Warburton, and that's TOtally meant to be a compliment :D

  • Joe is simply amazing. I never get tired of listening to him, regardless of the quartet.

  • whores

  • @parkerbrian11 ????

  • God, I love barbershop! my father and his brothers used to sing together at our family reunions.....all kinds of music....I was just a wee tot, but I remember.... and daddy used to sing "I want a girl" around the house or working in the garage....he loved to sing....gee, I miss him....thank you, whoever you are, for posting. Great music, love the harmonies and smiles!

  • I'm 14... couldn't imagine better music than barbershop :)

  • the guy in the middle on the left(out left) looks like a douche. Haha. there really good singers tho.

  • @xXCandy333Xx Sorry, did you just call Joe Connelly a douche? For shame...

  • wonderful singing group dispite their flaws

    love it !!

  • Ya didn't care for first song as much but well done

  • Lets not forget Platinum and Gas House Gang

  • @5:05 Looks like Kipp's got some hearing issues.. Thanks Joe :P

  • Wow that was a long post...Tim you have some competition!

  • not impressed... intonation problems, bad blend, and over singing

  • @tacoking517 Sorry mate, but bollocks. These guys are some of the best barbershoppers I've ever heard. Your 'intonation problems' are completely non-existent, the guys are completely on-key. Their voices blend brilliantly, and trust me, if you think that's over-singing, then you haven't seen much barbershop.

  • @Jackman24601 Agree to disagree. I don't think this is a gold medal performance... the issue is not their talent. I have heard them sound better before and I am quite aware of the barbershop style.

  • @tacoking517 Fair enough, they were lots better last year, but I don't think what you said before is quite accurate, they aren't BAD, after all. Compromise?

  • @tacoking517 the good thing is that it is a game of 6 songs spread out over a week long competition....consistency is the main goal..OC Times won the contest but didn't win a single round...they were the most consistent.

  • @tacoking517 This was one set of three.....our best singing was in the finals but they will not upload that set due to copyright issues....sucks for us that our best stuff will not be posted

  • Love their faces at @4:40

  • fabulous

  • The tenor sounds protein deficient. :-) jk

  • @bradypaul Huh?

  • @mkippbuckner Just a vegetarian joke. :-)

  • that is one incredible bass!

  • The best quartet to come out of the Mid Atlantic District since BSQ

  • They're still great, but I think Joe and Kipp were best in Interstate Rivals. I had the pleasure of singing with them. Amazing memory. They may have been the best quartet to ever sing barbershop, with the possible exception of BGSU.

  • It was just alright for me.. The first song (ballad) was the best of the two. Gold? I guess for 2011 maybe.. KeepSake was Joe's best effort.. For me it's Accoustix's, and Second Edition.. Living Legends.. "Keep Politics out of Barbershop and Keep the whole World Singing!" Peace, Light and Love

  • Is that Storm Front in the suggestions column?.... *click*

  • @Aaron5ash nice

  • @signmypoodle good point

  • Accoustix, Max Q, and Storm Front are far better

  • @BHS2011able you can't forget crossroads and vocal spectrum!

  • @BHS2011able and so are the Suntones, and possibly many others.....but they didn't compete this year....and we did our best!

  • I saw this live, and I guess it just didn't impress me as much. I was so excited at my first international to see them, and I felt like they just didn't have the blend and power that I have seen from them before. Still, they were great and are one of the best quartets for their presentation and preservation of the good ol' songs.

  • Great ballad! However I'm looking forward to not having to hear "I Want A Girl" again in competition anytime soon.

  • @bobchuseby Yeah....we wanted to retire that song but it always scores very well and we came into KC with 3 new songs....we felt 4 new ones might not be the best plan.

  • @mkippbuckner "But I like Madonna!" LOL. As if we needed another reason to love you, Kipp! :)

  • @XarionGod aw thanks so much!!!!

  • This was electrifying live. Not sure if the video is doing the performance justice. Not to say it's bad, but not sure we get the sense of what a big sound old school has. I love that the old songs are being preserved in high quality on the internet

  • So glad they won!

  • 2nd one was fun :D

    congratulations!

  • I wonder if Joe has any plans for more gold in the future. This makes number 4 for him :P

  • @matrix86 Tony is going for his 4th, so my guess would be Joe is going to try for a 5th eventually.

    But I don't think he'll be successful

  • @mcpicklejar That's my thought, too. Part of me thinks that if Joe was back on PLATINUM-style stuff he could bring home #5. I would really like to see Tony win #4 first, though. BUT my priority is to hear Gary Lewis sing lead. I'd also like to see Joel T. Rutherford win a gold, too.

  • Wish I could've been there!

  • (〃^∇^)o彡☆☆☆☆☆ Bravo

  • Outstanding!

  • Holy Crap! 2:36

  • WOOOOOO!

  • MIGHTY AWESOME VID!!!

  • Boom! Thanks for putting another Old School video up!
