I really enjoyed this video. People seem to be more interested in the camera and frankly so am I. I found this searching for ZS3 as I am planning to buy either ZS3 or Hx5v.
This is one of the best in flight video I have seen. The colors are vivid the sky looks amazing.
In AVHCD Lite mode and SH quality: 90 mins without using any other feature like zoom, or turning off-on... 60-70 mins using zoom, turning on-off, taking pictures with a full charged battery
Great video showing the camera's capabilities. Were you in control of the aircraft or were you passenger? What mode were you shooting in? Was this AVCHD Lite or MJPEG? If AVCHD, L, H, or SH?
I was a passenger. I had a 16GB card in it, shooting in AVCHD Lite (capacity for 2 hours). MJPEG, with that card, literally only gives you a few minutes.
As soon as I can find a place that has this camera in stock, I'll buy it. It did seem to be a little choppy at times - do you think that's YouTube, or is it just a little choppy? I'm sure you had the image stabilization on.
The image stabilization is outstanding. It was bumpy as hell and I had a hard time holding the camera still. The still images came out great.
There are comments that the video is a bit choppy during pans. When the whole scene is moving, there's more compression to do and I think it drops frames. Also, it could look worse with YouTube. That depends on your computer, your internet connection, and whether or not you're in HD mode
Gotcha - I'm watching in HD with a new desktop I just got, but I know YouTube tends to degrade the quality and the camera is also in 30 fps. How is the sound quality? I know it's got stereo inputs, which is awesome for a digital still camera - do you think a revving car would gain it out? Anyway, thanks for the recommendation; this camera seems like it's got it all.
Sound quality is good. There are two little mics on the top of the unit. Keeps the wind noise down. Since the sound doesn't directly enter the mics, I don't a revving car would be a problem. The original sound in the airplane was really loud and there was no distortion.
I highly recommend this camera. I got it through 6th Avenue on Amazon. Shipping was extremely fast with expedited shipping. I ordered in on a Friday and had it by the following Wednesday.

Hi, great soundtrack, what song is it?

Thanks. Actually, I don't know. It's one provided by YouTube. There's a feature where you can add soundtracks. I'll see if I can hunt it down.

Hi did you find out what it is, cause I like dig i too?

One can double video time to 4 hours with AVCHD Lite "L" mode and a 16GB card. "L" runs better on my computer, I guess, due to lower Mbs.

Great video buddy... So, is there some limit of time during video mode?
lgmm01 2 years ago
Time is only limited by the space on your card. Highest res is 2 hours with a 16MB card in AVCHD.

Not yet. I always shoot everything in the highest res possible and then scale it down if I need to.

Oh, meant to tell you: SH.

Thanks. Have you tried out the other settings, e.g, H or L mode in AVCHD Lite? I have, and don't notice much difference on my laptop or YouTube.
