It's a shame weezer's last two/three albums have been a collection of shallow lyrics embedded in melodies that could be considered prayers for pop-hits.
And don't think i'm bashing them because I don't like them or something. Pre-"Make Believe" Weezer is possibly my favorite band of all time, and even after they had two or three great songs.
Apologies for the rant, this vid just made me miss the Hey-Days of Weezer.
This song is based off a jam the Grateful Dead would often play in concert, and can be heard on "Dark Star > Jam" off of Dicks Pick's Volume 2, as well as "Dancing In The Streets" off Dick's Picks Volume 8.
it sounded a lot like the song with vocals.. until the second solo that is. i couldn't believe how much rivers was shredding.. we normally don't hear that on albums.
I agree, the jamb just asks to be this long. The extended outro and second solo really kick some serious ass. This song has always been more about the music than the lyrics. In fact, when they recorded this for the first few times river's didn't have any lyrics at all, as evident here. Brian said that one cut of this song has Rivers reading the ingredients off a pringles can in place of lyrics. Both early and final lyrics are good in their own ways, and provide some vivid imagery.
It is, and there seems to be more of them. I love this version of the song so much, it's a shame how the edited it for the album. Half the length and pretty lame lyrics, ugh..
rivers - get back on guitar my friend, and get weezer doing some good music like this :)
