00's is tottaly better , he was my favourite vallian in TMN , he was much more serious , scary and he also fights in a matrial way but look at the 80's version was a joke like the rest of the 87 chracters
@InkeTheEliteMajor my favorit too go leatherhead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and its actually make sense he is very smart after all crocodilians are the smartest reptiles of all
I never saw the old cartoon until the weird mixture of the two movie(loved it by the way,it was interesting to see.I cant recall if Leatherhead was in that movie, but if he wasn't he should have been).Very cute.I have to say I love both Leatherhead's as their both pretty cute to me.Although I love that accent of the old cartoon, new Leatherhead gets my vote. Not only is he cuter, sweeter and all around adorable, there would be less of a chance of him killing me or something if I give him a hug.
I haven't seen a single Classic TMNT episode but thanks to the clips of Classic Leatherhead I got his catch phrase stuck in my head for days. I caught myself once and laughed and my sister (who HATES anything to do with TMNT) stared at me like I was crazy ..... and I think I AM!!!! huminah-huminah-huminah (2k3 Mikey quote!)
@PrimalWolf2006: Aka what Krang from Dimension X appears to be in the 80's series, although it is not explictably mentioned. In the 2k3 series, The Shredder is seemingly himself an Utrom, as opposed to human Uroko Saki.
Personally, I prefer Leatherhead from the Classic series, I think that an alligator should be a villian and not a hero, Reptiles aren't known for their bonds, If an alliagator is hungry it'll have no problems eating it's reptile cousin, unless its a snapping turtle those two seem to be ok living in the same enivornments, so Tokka and Leatherhead being friends is ok. I think its interesting that the new version can be both good and bad but like I said I feel that he should a villian not a friend.
In the classic TMNT there is actually an episode where the origins of the Rat King are explained. And yes, he was a scientist that experimented on rats and got involved to deep with his work, and of course, something blew up in his lab and the project that he was involved in allowed him to control the rats.
Leatherhead used to scare the living shit out of me playing the games. I don't know if there was anything scarier than seeing him in the 3rd game for the NES
He sort of reminded me of Jekly and Hyde but I thought in some ways, he was a pretty similar to The Lizard from Spider-Man, what with them being lizards, wearing lab coats, both intelligent, struggling to control his insticts, ect. Everytime I look at the new Leatherhead, I keep expecting him to fight the turtles. You say it makes more sense for him to be an ally since they're both reptiles, but don't alligators eat turtles? I liked the old Rat King better too.
Killer Croc from "The Batman" is similar to 2003 Leatherhead. They are both crocodilias, humanoid, mutated, but differently, and speak with Cajun accents. Unlike Killer Croc, 2003 Leatherhead is an alligator and not a villain.
I think the new King Rat can control rats because in one episode Bishop explains to Splinter that his DNA will complete the super soldier, maybe been part rat could explain that. O.o
Ratking can control rats because of Splinters DNA, which has been took by Bishop. It was, if I remember, in first episode about this case of super-soldier.
Well I grew up with the classic series. For a long time I refused to watch the 2k3 series. But since I did I have to admit that almost all the characters are deeper and more developed in the newer series.
The most significant advantage of the newer series is the fact that it is really based on the original comic books, u just gotta love these. The older one was designed for (small) kids, whereas the newer series also adresses grown ups.
Cool, I didn't know he did anything for the turtles.
Quite frankly, the only animated show I actually remember him from is the movie Balto.
That's not to say I'm not interested in hearing that he did other things like this. It's just that I haven't really heard much about his work, or if I did, I easily forgot about it since when I agot involved int the turtles series, I was more interested in actually watching it and not who created it and what not.
yeah, I'm liking your comparisons, but I'm going to cry foul on the Leatherhead comparison, because they don't even have the same function in both series, which is what you you where enticially comparing them on.
Actually, when I first saw him it was in a new episode teaser and they only showed him from the back, and all I could trhink was "Lizard" form spiderman too, Couldn't wait to see that episode, I thought they might even have found a way to do a crossover somehow...
The rat king was really a burn victim, NO ORIGIN. When he "died" the Panthion made him a gaurdian of Rats and when Splinter dies, he may become the next rat king
Which other episodes did the Rat King appear in the 2003 series. I saw the first one where he trapped Mikey but I didn't know he appeared in more episodes!
i had know idea that ther 2k3 leatherhead had so much of a warm heart, that classic one was such a jerk and an ass for picking on thre weak, while the 2003 one was a scientist with a raging fume of violence and brute strenght, and an ally of the ninja turtles, i like the 2k3 leatherhead, he's a cool ass reptile
I swear this show got me into my bdsm and tickling fetishes. X-x That scene with April getting collared did something to me.
You think the animators knew what they were doing when they did it in classic? I swear, it was just~ I know I'm not the only one who felt funny when they used the feather on April.
well its like ur saying TWO-FACE isnt a villian but he is and so is the new leatherhead. Love the split personality in comic characters. Me like L-Head!
What? but how? he can't beat Splinter and he can't beat Bishop, and fighting the Rat King is like fighting Splinter AND Bishop both at the same time! has Leonardo really become that skilled?!
You know, in LeatherHead's 2k3 debut, when Baxter Stockman tricked him, Baxter made a Mechanical Turtle Enemy to counter the Titluar turtles' power. There is also a mechanical turtle enemy in the 1987 cartoon.
Yes, but those had different names. The one in the cartoon was metalhead, but the robot in the 2k3 series was turtlebot. To make things more confusing, there was a character named metalhead in the 2k3 series as well, but he's a short super hero who can turn his hair into weapons. I was going to compare Turtlebot and MetalHead, but then I decided not to since they didn't even share the same name.
No they're not, look it up. Turtles are reptiles. Amphibians are born with gills which fall off as they grow older (Like a tadpole as it turns into a frog) Reptiles are born with lungs from the time their born. Turtles, despite living in/near water, don't have gills at any point in their life, just lungs.
Well you must be right since you're a Doctor and all LMAO ("I made a funny")
actually I was joking because they're called amphibians a more than a couple of times in the old cartoon. I guess that wasn't obvious hahaha. I'm a "Shell Back" too :-)
Oh, sorry, lol. Yeah, they got that fact wrong in the old series alot... they also got it wrong a few times in the 2k3 series too I believe. (Even some fans get that wrong till today, lol)
The reason Rat King in the 2k3 show can control rats is because of Splinters mutant DNA he has in him. There might be some other reasons, but that's it in a nut-shell.
Yes! ty so much for making the 2k3 leatherhead win! tthe minute i saw a couple episodes with him in it he seemed to be very more interesting and developed.
well i know the shredder is included part 3 im talking about part 4 of more villans and freinds or something like bebop and rocksteady, modo gecko, hun, karai even mona lisa
sorry, but after Shredder, I'll be done with the character comparisons. Besides, again, I'm only comparing characters that appeared in both shows. Part 4 will be the final 5 rounds, but I'm not revealing what the final categories for those rounds are yet
Comparing these 2 versions is no easy task and I really like both. I dont think you can pick a category like triceritons and expect it to be fair. If you are going to go off of character depth then just have a category for character depth and not 5 points for 5 characters. Character depth and backstories were something the new show has because it is an evolution where they learn from the mistakes of the earlier version. Triceritons count as much as action, comedy, and Raphael? and theyre in 1 ep
well again, I'm only comparing characters who appeared in both shows, that's why I chose the triceritons regardless of their small role in the first series.
When you do the Shredder's vid are you going to add the other Shredder types from the TMNT series the Utrom Shredder, Tengu Demon Shredder, and Cyber Shredder? And will you be mentioning Dregg the final villain of the original series seeing as how Shredder replaced him?
All that and more, baby. That's why it's taking so long for me to make the next part, I'm not even half way finished... It should hopefully be finished by wednesday the latest
part 4 isn't coming out for awhile, and besides, part 4 doesn't even include Shredder, it's other rounds/categories. the next part of part 3 will include Shredder
But doesn't that mean that (In a way) the Rat King is actually MORE powerful than Bishop? I mean, I know Bishop is more stable than he is, but a mix of Bishop AND Splinter sounds a BIT more dangerous, doesn't it?
