  • Please tell me this was submitted to a festival or contest of some sort! I can tell that a lot of time was put into this, so if you made this just for YouTube, you are absolutely are wasting your time.

  • you guys need beards. not hardcore enough

  • haha a classic cowboy movie

    love it

  • LOL.. that dude cant walk in those cowboy boots..

  • Hey, good job guys!!!

  • great film! :) what shutter speeds did you guys use in 24p?

  • nice work man.. looks like you used a Jib as well? what lenses did you use.. i assume you used a 7D?

  • Where did you guys film this?

  • Great job guys!

  • would have been a million times better with older actors, they all look dead out of place. very bad casting.

  • Adam Sandler its the Marshall nice!!!

  • Very cool! I really enjoyed it. I have to say it could use a few skirts in the background, but it's really good. I enjoyed it.

  • Amazing....except for the actors. Not really a fan of them.

  • Great set! We just wrapped on shooting a short western film yesterday. Great job on yours!

  • i love how find such good locations for your vids.very well done

  • Nicely done. good cinematography. Only issues..... is it a town of clean cut young guns. not grungy enough or ages appropriate. Oh... no women? LOL Keep it up.

  • nicely done! one question though: Did u use a dolly for the moving-shots? If yes, was it self-made or did u buy one?

    greetings from austria,

    Paul

  • The dolly was self-made

  • You should really make a full length movie, I'd go see it for sure.

  • What did you use to edit the video?

  • We used Adobe Premier Pro CS4.

  • Where did you get the funding for this? Did you get a license for the music too?

  • Excellently done. Great cinematography.

  • Wow, this is nuts! where do you guys find all the sounds from? like the ambiance noice and music?

  • Wow, where is this location you shot at?

  • The acting was pretty good until the action sequence came. You dont hear a grunt nor anything, Your hit, close ur eyes and fell down. The bad guy died ok. But everything else was ok good job.

  • Excellent!

  • Simply GREAT Short... Keep them coming

  • Only in our world would a video of a standing cat get more views than something like this...

  • I like it - well made indeed. In the spirt of constructive crit, perhaps you should consider taking a tip from DeadWood and putting some dirt/dust worn make-up on some of your cast?

Their/your youthful appearances would be less noticeable then IMO and it would help complete the picture. People were just plain dirty back then...

  • The mayor was great, the sheriff wasn't so great. Actually I loved all of the actors except for the sheriff. lol This was pretty great. Sheriff could have just used his voice a bit stronger

  • production value is nothing short of amazing! nice job!

  • Good one. Man the villain sure do look like Robert Sean Leonard (Dr wilson on House MD), almost down to his mannerism too. uncanny.

  • sick!

  • I'm loving the feel of this film, the intro bit has a sorta Coen Brothers style to it and some of the shots are tasty. Keep it up :)

  • ahhh.. too bad that one shot was out of focus.. apart from that it's excellent, bravo!

  • you said your latest work has been done with the Cannon camera and the quality is better :O

but Ironing man 720p looks better than Wanted 720p.

  • Whoa.. All of my questions are already answered.

Please keep on making great shorts like this, inspires me to go filming with my 550D!

Oops.. One thing though.. what Picture Profile did you used?

    Thanks!!

  • We used the Neutral Color Style while shooting, with contrast and sharpening turned all the way down, and saturation turned down two notches. This helps save the image for later color correction.

  • good work guys.

  • Figment Films, Great job guys..> great imagination and production. I have looked at wanted and Ironing man. You guys definitely made me laugh!

  • amazing ... this was shot with the 7D? How many of them did you use? And what about the lenses?

  • @fransjoleihitu We had a maximum of two and we used the following lenses:

24-70mm f2.8 (my personal favorite) and the cheapo 50mm f1.8. If we had to go wide our friend had a 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 that comes with the Rebel XSI. Lastly, we had a 28-135mm f3.5-5.6

  • Woah, where did you guys get that kind of set and costumes? Overall, an excellent quality film. Is this a part of work at a university somewhere?

  • @beamerfan We rented a set outside of San Antonio, Texas.

  • @TheFigmentFilms

Hey did you use any type of rig? Am thinking about buying a 7d but idk what type of trupod or rig to use..

    care to enlighten me?

  • @MindOutrage We used a manfrotto tripod, a kesler crane, and a homebuilt dolly. I would definitely pick up a decent tripod if you're using this camera. Handheld is not a good idea.

  • @TheFigmentFilms

yeah ive heard that from a lot of people, oh and am also trying to decide between the HDR-AX2000 and the Canon 7D

from your experienced point of view which is the superior camera?

  • @MindOutrage It all depends on what you want. If your goal is maximum image quality, the 7d will win every time. However, It's more cumbersome to shoot with as it isn't exactly designed with video users in mind.

7d is more cinematic, but if you need a news or conference camera, the AX2000 is a better choice. Also, the AX2000 will probably deliver better audio. I have never shot on the AX2000 before, so keep that in mind.

  • @TheFigmentFilms

thanks, no yeah am looking for a more cinematic camera, i think i will definitely go with the 7D.

And ill ask one last quesiton before i start being TOO annoying..

What did you use to record the sound?

  • We used an "Audio-Technica AT-897" Shotgun mic, recording into a "Zoom H4n Field Recorder." You can learn more about the production at blog-dot-wantedwestern-dot-com

  • @TheFigmentFilms

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP

I AM LIKE LITERALLY GOING TO AMAZON NOW!

  • Its a town entirely populated by 18 - 23 year olds!

  • @vinithehat Hehe. That is funny isn't it. Our cast was pretty limited.

  • very professional job!

    like it!

  • The cow town is in Beorne, Tx. My sister had her wedding there. Its called Enchanted Springs Ranch

  • @btisdale724 Right you are :)

  • Great acting, great script, great filming! OVERALL GREAT GREAT GREAT!!

    Keep it up y'all.

  • I really like this! Looks VERY proffesional.

I would have enjoyed it, if you had spent some money on makeup. The sherif looks way to young. Adding some scars, and darkening the skin, would have made it much better. I like it alot though!

  • Looks nice guys. If you don't mind some constructive criticism (we can all use it), my only issue with it was that everyone is the same age, or at least in the same age group roughly. If we see a couple of old guys, some kids, etc. it really sells it. Otherwise, solid Western piece.

  • That actually does look like Bandera... or Fredricksburg

  • outta curiosity what camera did you guys use to shoot the film? good job btw :)

  • arabianfox, We used a Canon EOS 7d. Not the easiest to shoot with, but the results were great. Nothing like the shallow DOF!

  • Wow the Canon's video mode is pretty amazing.

  • the acting was terrible

  • Love it!

  • amazing work!

  • FIRST!
