  • only halford.........

  • Is ripper not good enough to sing in Eb or E standard? Only thing I dont like about him..

  • wow not bad , tuff act to follow in rob tho.respectable tho

  • wääääääähhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...tim....rob...rules!!

  • Well in my humble opinion as a singer myself, Ripper's vocal power was/is well beyond Halfords. That said, Ripper comes off as a phony and Halford is the real deal. Metal fans can see a wannabe a million miles away and that's exactly what Ripper is... he's got awesome pipes but no style his own really... he's fake, a copy, and very boring.

  • Update on Ripper..he is now building motorcycles at O.C.C. and has a tv show even..with his dad...LMAO

  • @hockeytim64 haha he does look just like him! His band Beyond Fear is pretty cool though.

  • All Priest fans owe Ripper a big THANK YOU for keeping the band going during those years.

  • Hmm, I wonder....... KING DIAMOND FOR JUDAS PRIEST!!!!!!!!

  • @Kins1002 I AGREE FOR THE VOCALS...BUT THEY REPRESENT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT CULTURE

  • Does they tour any more?? Fack I must see them!!

  • @Zukatsr125 2011/2012 ;)

  • Why would ya show 1/2 video

    You suck

  • nice screams in this version!

  • The screams of him totally own this version...

  • @pranavananda Rob dose the same thing

  • If Halford is the Metal God, Ripper is the Metal Jesus.

  • @servantlol Too right man, Ripper is an awesome vocalist.

  • Judas Priest without Rob Halford??Really, since when? That is just plain Wrong. . .

  • rob has a great past, but owen is 100 times better these days

  • I like when he screms! :)

  • my thing about ripper, he is also one of the greatest singers i heard, the thing is, his stuff now is excellent, but when he joined judas priest, he had alot to live up to, with rob, it was hard to do judas priest with him, but he kept judas priest alive.

  • @goingcrasy202 True except for 1 thing.

It wasn't really Ripper who kept the band alive...

    It's the Fans.

  • this i will admit he does a good job but he should have tried to sing it in E i would give him a lot more credit if he could

  • He could tho thats the thing.

  • rippers mid range is fucking powerful my boy.

  • Ripper is good but he is not the Metal GOD. Rob is a master @ his craft. Ripper is a better vocalist no doubt though he is not Rob.

  • wow, ripper owens is a fuckin MONSTER. he has a wide vocal range.

btw, did they tune their guitars lower?

  • What the hell is wrong with you guys, don't watch these videos if you're gonna criticize the Ripper, he's just as good as Halford, leave it at that.

  • yeah! thats exactly what I am thinking everytime I read comments to ripper vids...people can only criticize but never try to see what a great singer and personality ripper is

  • omg he copy's halford he wears same coat with him

  • Ripper filled Halford's shoes to the best of his capabalities, and if you ask me he did a damn fine job of it. I'd like to see YOU fill the shoes of the man who fuckin' created Metal single-handedly.

  • ripper cant feel those shoes

  • thank you my friend.................im a damn hard core fan of judas priest but this fukin hilly billy ripper fukin ruined a great band fuck all you who enjoy his repulsive voice

    LONG LIVE HALFORD

  • repulsive voice??? shut up asshole

  • if I think that scheepers could've been on that stage...

  • Ripper is as much a fan of Priest than any of us! He and Priest split on good terms. He did a great job as a vocalist with Priest. Rob is great! Singing, writing, stage prescence. Priest did have a great album with Ripper: Jugulator. Needs remastered but it's great! Rob had some great stuff outside of Priest. Theres no reason why we cant enjoy all of it. The only bad thing was that Priest had just found a new great sound with Painkiller and then split. We have a missing decade of Priest!

  • Metal faggett!! \o/

  • Comment removed

  • Ripper isn't meant for Priest or Iced Earth. But Beyond Fear? That's an awesome fucking album and the band is solid. He needs to be in his own element, not forced to cover songs that have powerful singers like Rob and Matt. He does a brilliant cover of Metal Gods, but when you get him on Painkiller or Dracula...

  • haha what u talking about man? ripper can sing dracula and painkiller better than rob without a discussion, rob sound like a baby when singing em

  • I saw JP play painkiller in 2008 and 2009 and it was excellent. When ripper sings it sounds like karaoke. And the rest of the band look embarrassed.

  • Esse Vocal ainda não tinha visto, parece que o cara é dos nossos!

  • hahahahaaa you suck... rob is the best not that faggot

  • FUCKiN' A.W.E.S.O.M.E!! !

  • I don`t now why but I like Ripper voice more then Robs when it comes to sing Metal gods

but I think Rob is better in other songs

  • im sure glad i never wasted my my money to hear this crap like the time i wasted.i will be kind this guy sucks and gave me a head ache.now that rob is back i hope we heard the end of you.merry christmas to true priest fans no halford no priest

  • Don't bag on Ripper.

    He has an awesome voice.

If you think Robbo has the metal vocal chords, then how would you feel about the cat who has to try and fill those iron legs? Yah, see? Tim did a great job. Now before you blast me - Rob IS the singer in Priest - but in his absence Owens did a damn fine job.

  • Tim Owens has a great voice, and sings real well, but halford is the metal god of all times. His presence onstage really is godlike.

  • rhyche9 i totally agree with ya dude... a vocalist is either good or bad...ripper aint rob and rob aint ripper...people who involve themselves in such conversation are like most of the rock press ultimately anti-rock! end of story!

  • Ripper is great singer, but like everyone he must bow his head in front of metal god..

  • Ripper is better inthis song.Rob now hasn´t his voice.

  • True but isn't Rob like 108 yrs.old :)

  • Ripper is Great. But Rob Halford is a Metal God. You can´t compare

  • man im tired of fights like these things. all over youtube., even on maiden videos people saying blaze sucked and that bruce owns and that the ripper sucks and rob owns. the fact is THEY ALL OWN!!!! if priest choose the ripper for the replacement, its obvious that hes got to kick some serious ass, as shown right here. same with blaze and maiden.

  • seen preist last night and it was fucking awesome

  • true the rippers is good but come on is rob halford, the metal god ,not even dickinson comes close to be as good as him and dickinson is a really good singer

  • evil!!!!!! that thewy wouldc cutr it off fuk heads

  • I think the Owens era would've been more well recieved if the albums had been good. They were mediocre at best, and though the live shows were good, Halford was gaining all that momentum between the Halford albums and the live performances that it was only inevitable that Rob would be back. Personally, I loved the time I saw priest with Owens, but it seems like such a bigger event with Rob in the fold.

  • It always will be with an original lineup.

Also, aside from the fact that Owens could hit the high notes (Albeit with dropped tunings and yes, I know they dropped the tuning for Halford too so don't get on my case), for me he just didn't have enough character in his actual voice to pull it off.

Its one thing singing in a priest cover band...totally different fronting the real thing.

Once again, I have no beef with the guy, its my opinion.

  • Well... Jugulator wasn't bad at all, but Demolition was pretty terrible. I also really like Ripper's voice and thought he did the best job he could with Priest, but it's a damn shame they didn't keep him or let him write. Priest these days seems like a thoroughly spent force- there's nothing about the band that I would call "exciting" anymore.

  • I would've probably agreed with you until Saturday night. Out of the 4 times I've seen Priest(1 with Owens, 3 with Halford) it was easilly the best. My old boss who has seen Priest over 50 times between 75 and now said it was in his top 2 or 3 times. I can't really explain it, it was just an absolutely amazing show and Rob sounded surprisingly amazing!

  • Only thing I'm trying to point out is Ripper had a huge position and shoes to fill, and JUDAS PRIEST asked him, they knew ecactly what they wanted, and they got it. I believe Ripper went over and beyond the expectations of everyone. Now listening to Rob do METAL GODS anywhere from '91 - 08 , their really isnt a change, but in '02.........a strength needed came in and made me a believer, that there is more to Priest as a band, than just the man holding the mike.

  • Not trying to down Rob, but it took me listening to ripper to become a fan of priest. Now hearing Rob sing with them again, well, just lost me .

  • Thats fair comment man, it is different now but they aint 20 years old anymore.....

  • For all of you assholes bitching over the Halford/Owens issue, how about this: They BOTH are beyond amazing in every sense of the word, two of the best vocalists to ever live. Halford is the pioneer, the original and the real icon of Priest, we all identify Priest with Halford, but Owens carried the flag brilliantly and stepped into some mighty shoes, filling them perfectly. It's not Owens' fault Halford decided to bail. Owens got to live the dream: being IN your favorite band, that's awesome.

  • I'm not bitching about anyone mate but when idiots make posts about Owens being better than Halford it makes my blood boil. I first saw Priest in 1978...30 years ago.

Halford was imperious and its only in the last 6 or 7 years that he's suffered with the top end of his vocal range.

I have no grudge against Owens but people should remember that when he was born Halford had been on top form for years, playing and singing original music.

Can you see Owens hitting still those high notes in 25 years?

  • Well truthfully no, I think Ripper is already suffering somewhat anyways. The guy has landed tough breaks too though, getting booted out of Judas Priest and now Iced Earth as well,he is now with Yngwie. I liked his voice because it was eerily similiar to Rob Halford, but even still , it wasn't the same. Listen to the tuning Priest is using here, they dropped down to C and C#, that's roughly 2 whole steps, which was to compensate Rippers Range. They now use a D to cover Halfords which is 1 step.

  • He was incredible

  • This song sounds a hell of a lot better and heavier played in D. They did right playing this lower.

  • Great show, I was there. I was in the Air Force at the time and my roomie was from London so we stayed at his parent's house and went to see Priest. I lost my voice screaming the whole time. Also couldn't hear for two hours after. Also puked up much Jack Daniels. Good times.End of an era.

  • halford is the original vocalist and the metal god he is the only frontman for priest in my opinion however i thought the songs they recorded with ripper sounded great but like the other person commented he should stop filling everyones shoes

  • anyone who thinks Halford sucks can fuck off and die cause he's the ONLY frontman for Priest.....THE ONLY...

  • HE WAS UNTILL THEY RELEASED live in london WHERE THE WORLD CAN WATCH SOMEONE ELSE NEVER LOOSE VOCAL STRENGTH THROUGH AN ENTIRE CONCERT. Now hes back and feeble as ever.

  • Of course Owens is superior to Halford. He's a better vocalist technically and Halford is in his 50's, for fucks sake. The only thing thats wrong with Owens is the fact that he keeps filling other people's shoes.

I think some people need to listen to this entire concert. Ripper's vocals are astounding.

  • Awesome comment mate.

  • owen can bite me.he sucks ass.

  • Wow, very thought-provoking comment. Actually, Tim Owens possesses more talent than you ever will. It's not his fault Halford decided to leave Priest, and who wouldn't take the opportunity to audition for Priest?

  • 8/10 just for Halford the only priest, good tryout:)

  • Owens is awesome...Halford lost his touch

  • not close to halford eh? do you hear any high notes today? and owens is only born to late for priest, a poser is only singing the songs he like and i think his voice was a new evolution for priest, if he would be the original, you would say he is the god...

  • Exactly. People are just used to Halford. But Owens and Halford both are brilliant.

  • ripper is rippen .great singen.

  • i admit that Halford is the metal god but Owens performs this song fantastic

  • I agree with MagicDrummer2000. I love Halford but Owens completely smokes him on this one!

    Awesome, just awesome.

  • and yor are a fucking donkey abortion for agreeing you dumb fucking stupid shit.

  • the ripper sings this song so mutch better than halford!!

  • thats the most fucking stupid thing ive heard in my life. If you have nothing smart to say, just shut the fuck up. This guy doesnt even come close to Halford and you are a fucking poser for even considering it, you loser.

  • not close to halford eh? do you hear any high notes today? and owens is only born to late for priest, a poser is only singing the songs he like and i think his voice was a new evolution for priest, if he would be the original, you would say he is the god...

  • No Priest/Halford= no Ripper Owens. How could he be the original.

    Idiot.

  • Just because someones the original singer , doesnt ever mean he's the best for the band. There's a many times i have heard bands do covers, and wish the originals could pull it off live as good as the club band and singer.PEOPLE TREAT ROB LIKE A COUNTRY FLAG, IT STILL DOESNT MEAN YOUR COUNTRY REALLY IS THE GREATEST.

  • This is for PHILLIPSUTRA. You obviously don't get it: A world with no Judas Priest or Rob Halford means Tim Owens never becomes Ripper Owens....would he even have become a singer? We'll never know. He doesn't have the voice or the charisma to front his own band, never mind Priest.

Halford in his prime would have destroyed owens. I saw both,I know who the daddy is. Your comments concerning who would have done the job better are pointless. The job was done 30 years before Owens was born.

  • Ripper does this song very well!

  • ripper is good, but not god;-)

  • The singers name is Tim Owens but he's called Ripper Owens. He suck compared to Rob Halford who is the METAL GOD!!!

  • yup, TIM that was a typo.

I liked the original Rob, before he suddenly aged overnight on us....ah,nostalgia.

  • i find it odd the original Rob sounds the same in '91 and '08 on metal gods.

  • Yeah. Hm, why is that?

  • i personally think this guy is better than rob. He sing better and has a much better stage presens. Rob just look tired (at least on the rising in the east dvd) and doesn't sound as good as he used to, but on the other hand, hes a Metal God!

  • Who is Tom Ripper?,

  • tIm Ripper.

  • VIVA HALFORD METAL GOD IS BACK!!!

  • Great! RIPPER Rules! \o/

  • Wow Tim RIpper Owens has nothing on Rob.....then again....No1 does!

  • tim ripper owens

  • he isnt as good as rob

  • he sings this song much better than rob.

  • it's still karaoke

  • he sure does

  • Whi is the singer?
