  • Lol, this is painful to watch.

  • I bet a lot of krauts and japs know this weapon very well......HOOAH!

  • @Bmont8030 you shouldn't use those terms buddy...Lot of people take that offensive (I know because I'm japanese). Next time, at least say the entire word and not those.

  • @ghostgoul007 Okay sorry man. no intention to be offensive. Japanese army and Nazis would be a little more PC

  • @Bmont8030 It's okay at least you can understand what I mean, unlike the guy above me.

  • @ghostgoul007 Oh so i can't speak unless i'm Japanese? Why the hell should you get to speak? Unless you're well into your 50-60's (which would be extremely awkward on your part) you wouldn't know either. If the word offends you, go cry in the corner. Got it ya Jap?

  • @WhatssSoFunny 1) I have to say that you're one of the most pathetic person I have ever heard in my life. 2) If you're not japanese, how would you know if it's offensive or not? You're saying that I'm a pussy for taking the word "jap" offensivly, when you clearly don't know what it feals like to be called a "jap" when you're japanese.. Obviously you're just another one of those racist little bastards. 4) I don't even want to talk to a childish little racist bastard like you. Get blocked.

  • @ghostgoul007 If you are going to cry in the corner over a WW2 reference (Comment was "THe Japs know that weapon well") then maybe you shouldn't be on a site like this. You don't have to be Japanese to know that that is offensive idiot! I know Nigger is an offensive word but i'm not black. Got it ya Jap?

  • @WhatssSoFunny

so what does cracker mean then?

  • @Dylanmg420 Are you asking what it is or the origin? It's supposed to offend white people, but it really doesn't. It's origin was from the crack of the whip during the slavery times.

  • @WhatssSoFunny

    what about Wop?

  • @WhatssSoFunny As all ways, your stupidity towards the subject is so retarded. In fact, it's starting to get funny. But it all comes to one thing, it's personal preference if it's racist or not. I was telling the other guy that MAJORITY of the japanese people are going to take it offensivly. Obviously you don't understand that. But, it was funny reading all of your idiotic comments. I'm done with the subject, fuck you and have a nice day.

  • @ghostgoul007 No it's not your preference if something is racist or not. That's not how racism works idiot. You could say anything against you is racist. Got it ya Jap?

  • @WhatssSoFunny lol your comments always amaze me. You cound call a black person "nigger" but if they don't feel offended, it's technically not racist. Are my words too complicated for you? btw "Got it ya jap" is my favorite quote now because your retardedness is just so funny. Even if your words are correct, that means the term "jap" IS in fact racist. Do you understand this contradiction? You're probably just some fat white man with no job, trying to start something on the internet.

  • @ghostgoul007 And now your true identity comes out! ok Jap, i'll lay this on to you so you're chinky eyes can read it- I CAN SAY JAP AS MUCH AS I WANT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO CRY OVER THE INTERNET BECAUSE I SAID JAP AS A WW2 REFERENCE THEN YOU NEED TO DELETE YOUR YOUTUBE ACCOUNT AND GO BACK TO PLAYING CANDYLAND AND WATCHING DORA. GOT IT YA JAP?!

  • @WhatssSoFunny LOL that was the funniest comment I read in a long time. Did something bad happen to you or something? Did one of your family member die or something? Either that, or you need to mature up and grow some balls. I took the term offensivly, many people take the word offensivly, and the guy in the first comment said sorry. In fact, that should've been the end to this subject. But you sir, started bitching about it. So tell me, who's the mature one now? Have a nice day sir.

  • @ghostgoul007 Oh and the part about me being a fat unemployed white guy, damn you know me SOOO well. Keep in mind, it was unemployed white guys who eraticated the stench of Jap filth during WW2.

  • @WhatssSoFunny lol and how many years ago was that? We're talking about the the term "jap" here, and not what happened in WW2. Yes it was the unemployed white guys who bravely served in the military during WW2, but does that mean YOU did? Just because they did, does not make YOU a good person. lol you are one sad sad man. btw, you forgot your "got it ya jap?" quote.

  • @ghostgoul007 1. If you had a brain you would know that that is where the term originated.

    2. Since you were using "unemployed white guy" in a derogatory manner i reminded you of that WW2 fact.

    3. Refer to Point 1 and 2 for "doesn't make you a good person"

    4. Got it ya Jap?

  • @WhatssSoFunny lol you're changing the subject. I know that WW2 is the time where the term "jap" originated. If you had the comprehensive knowledge, you can figure out that I was saying that this topic has nothing to do with the who served in the US military. If you think unemployed is a good thing, then I feel sorry for your parents. Thanks for saying "got it ya jap" because that made my day.

  • @ghostgoul007 wow you're stupid- I never sais i am unemployed. You said "we're talking about the tern Jap not WW2 BUT they are intertwined. I'm currently in college, what do you do ya stinky JAP?

  • @WhatssSoFunny From what I'm seeing, you're saying that unemployed is a good thing. I never asked if you're in college or not. Is this thing too dificult for you? You forgot your "Got it ya jap"

  • @ghostgoul007 Nope not in the least. Just adding to the insult that a bunch of unemployed white boys beat career soldiers of Japan during WW2.

  • @WhatssSoFunny You know, Japanese soldiers are one of the strongest soldiers during WW2. America won because they were richer, had more supplies, and far more men than Japan. In equal terms, America would have lost in only a few years. But this topic doesn't even have anything to do with our subject. I bet you don't even have the balls to join the military.Try saying that to a japanese solider, I will garantee you that you will get your ass kicked. You forgot your "got it ya jap" quote again.

  • @ghostgoul007 Unfortunately for you your assumption is false for a multitude of reasons.

    1. i won't get my ass kicked. They are either dead or 90 years old in which case kicking my ass is impossible.

    2. You missed the "career soldiers part" of my explanation.

    3. Don't have the balls to join oooh, that's why i'm in ROTC, idiot.

    4. They were one of the strongest? If one had to rate their performance out of every major nation, they would be second to last, before Italy.

    5. Got it ya Jap?

  • @WhatssSoFunny lol you need to learn some history. 90 years old? Your brain you don't have once again failed you.You know Japan has soldiers now too right? Or are you that stupid? And I never asked if you were in ROTC or not.Holy crap you're so brave you're in ROTC omg you're so tough, yeah, right. You know in the beginning of WW2 United States were getting their ass kicked right? But after the battle in Midway,Japan ran out of supplies and started getting their ass kicked.Thnx for the quote.

  • @ghostgoul007 Oh boy, so much to respond to.

    1. I was referring to Vets of WW2 i guess you're too stupid to connect the dots.

    2. No Japan doesn't have an army today, get your facts right.

    3. If, again you weren't an idiot, you would know that once i finish ROTC i get commissioned as an Officer.

    4. Is that right? Last time i checked the US never "got their ass kicked". Japan was too stupid with it's expansion and thought their "yamamoto" or some shit of a race was superior to all others.

  • @WhatssSoFunny lol when I was talking about soldier, I was referring to the men in JSDF. That's Japan's military. I never said anything about army, I said they have soldiers. It's called JSDF (Japanese Self Defence Force). They're a military organization, established after WW2, and still exists today. They protect Japan from the communist countries like China and North Korea, but it's not classified as an army. I guess you're too much of a racist bastard to even research about Japan.

  • @ghostgoul007 Funny because i a;ready knew that that's why i said it. You last sentence makes me wonder if you're retarded. Congrats you can use google, you pathetic waste. I'm done with dirt like u.

  • @ghostgoul007 btw, you said you were in college, but you replied to my comment in 12.Do you really go to school or have a job at least?Either that or you replied while you were in college, which is pretty stupid considering how much work college gives you.I'm tired of arguing with a person like you. This subject was over 4 days ago.I'm ignoring your replies now.Good luck in the army, at least you're serving the country unlike the video game nerds who just plays war games all day. Have a nice life

  • @ghostgoul007 If you honestly get offended by someone openly saying Jap, even on the internet, then you should re-evaluate yourself. Check if there are a set of nuts under your pea-shooter.

  • There is no such thing as recoil operated, blowback is the bolt sliding back after each shot. Recoil is the "climbing" as said in the video. The reason they changes the gun because a 45 ACP doesn't have enough fire power and range cababilites.

  • A big reason they didn't use the drum in the war was because of the weight. Those weighed about 25-30lbs fully loaded. Plus the Thompson Chicago Typewriter was the civilianized one you could get through mail order for around $150 bucks hence why every gangster had one.

  • how the hell does you have a drum mag on that, i though the m1/m1a1 were only fed by box mags?

  • @bargunner18 All you need to do to make it accept drums is make some slits is the receiver under the ejection port. Every little cut in metal made on a gun costs money. The slits for attaching the drum magazine were removed on the M1/M1A1 to cut costs during the war. That's probably why the charging handle was moved to the side too because when it was on top the charging handle was cut through the middle like the one on an UZI so you could aim down the sights.

  • @AK107DX Last I remembered the M1 was the first model and had the charging handle on the side, the civilianized versions were designed with the top mount charging handle.

  • I didn't know you can fit a drum magazine on the M1A1. Or maybe that mag is modified?

  • I thought you had to pull the bolt back to take the magazine out. Maybe I'm thinking of the 1928A1 which has the bolt on top rather than side mounted.

  • @ammobobguy See, you would come to this conclusion because you base all of your knowledge on games like CoD. If you knew anything about weapons or the military, you would know that a SMG is defined as: a compact, medium to light weight, automatic pistol round-firing weapon. 95% defined as being an automatci weapon designed to fire pistol rounds. It has nothing to do with the way it looks, how fast it shoots, or how much recoil it has.

  • @PapaRatchet whats CoD?

  • @ammobobguy where did you hear that? The Thompson M1A1 is a SMG the reason why is because it fires pistol rounds.

Also CoD is Call of duty it is a one shooter game. don't pretend if you don't know what it is little guy...

  • the other guys thinking "i know how to load a magazine..."

  • Why did they the army get rid of this gun?

  • @WACstudios187 It was too heavy, too expensive to make, and the army wanted to change over to 9mm Parabellum rounds for its submachine guns and pistols.

  • @Calriec They never even made any SMGs for a long time except the MAC10 which was a .380 and .45, not a 9mm.

  • @Calriec It's not that it was too heavy (maybe compared to today's SMG standards) its weight actually added to the fact of being the best SMG to use during combat, because the heavier the weapon, the lighter the recoil. Also because it was designed to fire .45 caliber pistol rounds, one of the largest pistol rounds, that produced higher velocity for better accuracy-to-range shots.

  • @PapaRatchet Well, I know they switched to the M3 grease gun after the war, partially because the M3 was cheaper to make.

  • the greatest weapon of the history.

  • 2:50 when they start shooting, LOL.

  • my favorite smg!

    I love it! :)

  • so can you fire this in semi-automatic???

  • woohoow did he just say its .45 ACP its 9 mm right?? im confused

  • @MrJugoG4life It's a .45

  • @MrJugoG4life yeah its 45

  • @colj001 thx better that it is a 45 never say no to some stopping power :D

  • 4 mp40 lovers

  • why would anyone use the ak when you can use the thompson

  • @crocop195 the ak 47 is a beast thats why lol

  • @crocop195 thats like asking why anyone would use a car when they could use a scooter.

  • @jimmy134496 thats not like that

  • at 3:59 "What are you doing?!" :P

  • gangsta style..

  • i want one lolz

  • blowback operated ? i dont think so. i think its recoil operated or gas operated

  • @nuclearfish010

    No... it's blowback.

  • @TheZimpiko28Project but thats how the gun cycles. not operation right ?

  • @nuclearfish010 You're right, the operation is open-bolt.

  • @TheZimpiko28Project What's the difference between recoil and blowback?

  • @63gstone

Blowback is a system of operation in self-loading firearms in which the bolt uses the energy resulting from the cartridges propellant charge ignition. Recoil usually describes the backward momentum of a gun, or parts of it, when a shot is fired. However there are guns that use this mode of operation as well. If you want to learn more about it search for Recoil operation on Wikipedia.

  • great gun great video but where it lost me was when I saw him wearing a yankees hat

  • hhhmmm seems that the M1GRAND has a tough competitor

  • @jordan3727 how can you compare an M1 garand with an M1A1 thompson???

  • Did anyone else notice the "What are you doing!?!" at 3:58 :D

  • Haha it looks like the empty shells are hitting the targets

  • @3521mtma not nice

  • are they still illegal in the US?

  • @frankss4 They were never illegal in the first place. It just depends on whether it is on the civilian market or not. You can own one legally but it'll cost you your wifes birthday gift/ night out!

  • @frankss4 i think its legal if you have a permit for it

  • I love this weapon. I wish they weren't expensive.

  • stupid wind.......

  • I didn't think m1a1's took drums

  • @MUSICALGUNNUT45 It just did.

  • @MUSICALGUNNUT45 They can not take drum magazines. The drums werent made for them.

  • is this aeg brand

  • Get Some Get Some lol I want one to shoot

  • ladies and gentlemen the m1a1 asskicker, I mean thompson

  • how does ur m1a1 take the drum? i thought they made it so only 1921 and 1928 models could takr them

  • k @xBadass

  • The M1A1 is indeed Chuck Norris's son.

  • @Deltabravo663 Nah M1928 all the way!

  • @Deltabravo663 what about the minigun?

  • @Deltabravo663 any one loves the tomsons 45acp rounds and the gun its self and i see your point :) everyone loves tomsons execpt for krauts and japs

  • @Deltabravo663 no.....the atom bomb is chuck norris' son

  • @Deltabravo663 Uh, yeah. Sorry, but those jokes aren't funny anymore. In fact, I never thought they were that humorous to begin with.

  • I like the Thompson SMG, but the M1928A1 that was used by the Marines in te Pacific theater.

  • u dont ever tilt the wepon the sights dont work in the same way if u do but does this gun have a fire selector

  • Yeah, it's a really cool and fun gun, but in warfare; not very useful. A 45. submachine gun isn't very good.

  • @ayellerbird not until the kriss super v is less expensive

  • oh my god it sounds amazing!! :D

  • im sorry mate but it does not take a US soilder 4:11 to shoot a bloomin GUN!!!!!!

  • @xGODxOFxGAMESx yes, but it does take a US soldier to shoot it effectively.

  • It's amazing how efficiently a U.S. soldier could use one of those back in the day, and how much trouble people have with them now adays

  • @qbeck11 i still think this is the best gun ever. its heavy to absorb the recoil, its powerful, controllable and just awesome fun.

  • i thought drum magazines dont fit in the M1A1.

  • best machine gun ever.

  • Hi all

I´m a great fan of this gun and i would really much like to own a REAL FUNCTIONAL one. Where do i buy one??? I cant find any places, can someone help me?

    Thanks, -Niklas

  • @hvaskerderfordig a real full auto is gonna cost you 18-20 grand

  • @hvaskerderfordig If you're in the US and want to own one legally then you have to wait for someone to sell theirs. These weapons are registered with the BATF and no new devices can be registered (which means that all the machine guns that can be owned are owned by someone). You can check gunsamerica or other auction websites for "Class III weapons".

  • It looks like a good sweeper at close range but not very good at longer ranges. I guess thats why they call it a trench broom!

  • LOL GANGSTA STYLE

  • awesome smg

  • I spelled his name wrong, it is Tracie L. Hill

    ALSO " L" drum = 50 rounds and "C" drum = 100 rounds

  • I spelled his name wrong, it is Tracie L. Hill

  • say one Mafia :D?

  • gangsta style lol

  • i hold one at a gun fair when i was nine, that was the luckiest day of my life, PS i live in sweden so comming over these arent common

  • y dont we use this anymore?

  • @Vi0lentlySilent1 cuz it was hard to make and expensive and heavy... the replacement for a .45 ACP SMG is the UMP45

  • BOOMER!!!!!!!

  • It was only Box mag's but that One had à drum

  • What? I see an M1A1 Thompson with a drum magazine? I thought, and I've heard, that the model was made only for box magazines..? And that the earlier version, the M1928A1 Thompson could take both box and drum magazines..

  • @Spyflugan91 Maybe its customized? The guy did say he added paddles to the mag release, maybe he did more.

  • @samvansomething yeah, but I think it sounds too hard, don't think he have modified the gun itself to use drum mag.. Anyway, for me it's a mystery cuz I've read everywhere that this M1A1 thompson was not able to use a drum mag.. The receiver is slightly different than an M1928A1 thompson, which indeed could use both box and drum mags.. Anyway great gun! :D

  • @Spyflugan91 hahah agreed :)

  • @Spyflugan91

That is a myth, Tracy hill is and expert on Thompsons. On page 822 of his latest book here is a quote Type "C: drum magazine

The type "C" magazine will not function properly on the U.S Navy model and therefore must not be used with the U.S Navy model Hill write a reply Interestingly this is really not the case and a "C" drum in good condition will function quite in a model 1928.

    continued ......

  • However by the time the initial run of john's "C" drums had been exhausted it had already been decided that due to it's unwieldily bulk and heavy weight and propensity for jamming no more "C" drums would be produced, and this misleading statement on the card was an attempt by auto ordinance to head off further demand.

  • Looks like fun, Scott!
