You people seem to keep forgetting that ram(video ram included) is used for data transferring and data buffering which doesn't enhance anything like graphics. Dreamcast has 8 mb if videoram and was able to load game images quickly. PS2 has half that. And the ps2 beating everyone because of its media? all it had was a dvd player. Sony's PS2 sold well because it was the cheapest ps2 around at the time. Then Sony's marketing started to work their magic and some great games were coming through. So no it wasnt just the media that beat out all the other consoles.
@fightclubhubbs now imagine the games that Dreamcast could have in 2011. If the same companies that work on PS2 games worked on Dreamcast games, Sega would still beat PS2 in graphics and games nowadays. The last good games from Dreamcast were from 2002. Now compare the 2002 games made by PS and Dreamcast.

*PS2 is total of: MIPS R5900 64 bit, around 591 Mhz & 36 MB of RAM.
*XBOX is total of: 64 bit CPU,DRAM is 128 bit. It`s also around 1288 Mhz with 64 MB of RAM. -Dreamcast on the other hand does not have fast CPU or loads of RAM, but it is faster than most and have good 3D -accelration and advanced Texture Memory for detailed graphics, because of the smart desing.
-Personally, i prefer GameCube on that generation, -fast loading, good spects and no weak points.

Sorry. I should have been more clear. They both have good games; PS1 with the FF7, MGS1, Tekken and more. Dreamcast with Sonic the Hedgehog, Shenmue, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and other games copied to a disk that you might find on another system. My point is, though both systems have games worth playing, the Dreamcast excelled in graphics. Some characters from Tekken looked like a porygon 1 (pokemon) while characters from another game, say DOA 2, looked like porygon 2, which is smooth and round.

Playstations are cool but I'm such a fan of Nintendo's first party titles I'll always grab their systems first. Plus, the only good Sony Castlevania was SOTN. Wasn't too crazy about LoI, CoD, Chronicles, and Dracula X Chronicles. CotM, AoS, DoS, PoR, and OoE, though. All very good. I even liked 64. Ashame about Judgement and Harmony though. They're lame.

Yeah, why were Sega consoles never backwards compatable? You had to buy an adaptor for the GEnesis to Run Master System games. The Saturn should have really played Sega CD games and the Dreamcast should have played both. Then I wouldn't have to hook up my Saturn when I'm in the mood for Children of the Atom and Scud.

Damn the scenarios on cancelled Castlevania for dreamcast are beautiful they are almost like ps3, xbox360 or wii quality. Dreamcast was a fascinating console, too bad they just weren't succesful for some reason. I guess people love their nintendo and playstation brands too much. the game is CANCELLED, Konami never released this, however if you have some sort of image of the game (since it was 95% done) then please back up your claims.
I wish Konami would release some kind of demo at least. Give us one or two levels just to see how the game handled and what combat was like. Sure, it probably sucked if they felt they had to toss it, but forgive me if I'm curious and want to find out first hand.
It looks like one of the newer 3D Castlevania games that were released for the PS2 (last one for Xbox too) which are pretty good (not great), but you have to do a lot of corridor walking (yawn). It works on 2D but not too well on 3D...they need to take a look at Devil May Cry for a 3D Castlevania-like game that's successful. I still would have loved to play Cancelvania.
jeez, so that`s why It was cancelled, this was going to be castlevania 64 all over again.

PS2 was 128 bits, and 300 Mhz. With 32 Mb Ram
Xbox 1 was 32 bits (Similar to Intel Celeron) 733 Mhz and 64 Mb RAM.
Dreamcast had 200 Mhz and more Video Ram than PS2, that's why the good graphics.
Remember, not everything is hardware on Graphics.

PS2 games generally look FAR superior to any dreamcast games with few exceptions like Sonic Adventure 2 or Shenmue.

With Sony pricing their consoles out of the market you can see why there are a decent number of Sony haters, Also i never said i 'hated' Sony, I just stated the facts, Also if Sony had made a better console than Nintendo do you not think the sales would be in contention with the Wii despite the price? People look at the new Playstation and just dont enough quality or reason to spend that kind of money on it, With this console Sony are just gonna have to accept their name brand wont help them.

The Wii and PS3 really can't comapre. They're too different.
Playstations are cool but I'm such a fan of Nintendo's first party titles I'll always grab their systems first. Plus, the only good Sony Castlevania was SOTN. Wasn't too crazy about LoI, CoD, Chronicles, and Dracula X Chronicles. CotM, AoS, DoS, PoR, and OoE, though. All very good. I even liked 64. Ashame about Judgement and Harmony though. They're lame.

we all know ps took the market when everyone had copied games on there ps1s it became huge then the ps2 had dvd and dreamcast didn't that's what happened the ps2 never had any good games till dreamcast gave up i think the dc would of been able to run re4 no doubts at all it should of been able to play saturn games and sega should of secratly helped the bleem project

Yeah, why were Sega consoles never backwards compatable? You had to buy an adaptor for the GEnesis to Run Master System games. The Saturn should have really played Sega CD games and the Dreamcast should have played both. Then I wouldn't have to hook up my Saturn when I'm in the mood for Children of the Atom and Scud.

Damn the scenarios on cancelled Castlevania for dreamcast are beautiful they are almost like ps3, xbox360 or wii quality. Dreamcast was a fascinating console, too bad they just weren't succesful for some reason. I guess people love their nintendo and playstation brands too much. I had my a dreamcast and it was better than playstation 2 when it comes to graphics and loading speed, no bullshit.

the game is CANCELLED, Konami never released this, however if you have some sort of image of the game (since it was 95% done) then please back up your claims.

I wish Konami would release some kind of demo at least. Give us one or two levels just to see how the game handled and what combat was like. Sure, it probably sucked if they felt they had to toss it, but forgive me if I'm curious and want to find out first hand.

It looks like one of the newer 3D Castlevania games that were released for the PS2 (last one for Xbox too) which are pretty good (not great), but you have to do a lot of corridor walking (yawn). It works on 2D but not too well on 3D...they need to take a look at Devil May Cry for a 3D Castlevania-like game that's successful. I still would have loved to play Cancelvania.

It's not SEGA's fault genius - Konami owns the Castlevania property. If it wasn't up to snuff, it's them that cancelled it, not SEGA.
