I've seen other videos of her on youtube, and the ones that show her bare arms also sometimes show her armpits, and they're quite hairless...maybe it's just the shadow in this video that makes it seem like she has hairy pits.
in the 80's we were the freaks, but mtv still played our videos back to back against the current of buttrock that we would sneer and laugh at, while waiting to see if our videos would come next. Miss you siouxsie. this was such a wonderful time.
You know, the only thing that would make hairy pits gross if they were sweaty and stinking. But I don't see them as "gross." A woman has pubic hair as well, is that gross? Now I must say, a womans completely shaved private area is occassionally really nice to encounter ! But nothing wrong with a little bush under the arms. Especially on a beautiful woman ! it's only natural. Nothing wrong with natural.
Hairy pits horrifying? Oh c'mon...nothing on Siouxsie can be horrifying. But then again, is it mandatory for women to shave their pits? I don't think so. Hairy pits can be even sexy (and kinky too, why not) at times.

Regarding the discussion on Siouxsie's hairy pits: sorry, they are pretty gross. Thank goodness you can't see them too well here because the picture is bad, but on wide-screen tv it's horrifying. She was going for shock value and by gum, it worked. As for the song, it's one of the best covers ever. I daresay John Lennon would approve. I wonder if Yoko shaves her pits?
I was recently at my local bar's trivia night and they were playing sound clips of Beatles covers and this was one that came up. I think I got everything else right except this. I didn't even have to name the artist, just the song. The "Look around 'round round" part was what the host of trivia night played and her voice just made me forget all knowledge. Not a bad cover.
look VERY carefully ! but believe me .... its THERE :o( .... shows up even WORSE on BTTR copies ov this vid ! but she.s still gr8 tho . choon is 2 . just a shame abt the u/hr :o( chck out 1969brookie.s copy !
When a current artist or band covers a Beatle song, the current generation of listeners are surprised when they find out that The Beatles were the ones who wrote and sang it because most of them do not have enough musical knowledge to know just how great the Beatles were as a whole and the impact they had around the world, both positive and negative, in such a relative short time span.
Well, I remember when this song came out in 1983, and not '84 as stated in the info. For many years after this song came out people actually thought Siouxsie wrote 'Dear Prudence', including many so called Beatles fans. So it just goes to show how much of a "stamp" she put on this song.
I loved this when it came out. I am pretty sure I had heard the original version by then and knew it was a cover, but I LOVED this version! It definitely had a stamp of originality on it. I would never say the Beatles were not amazing, but this seriously rocks!
That's another wonderful thing about YouTube. It's so educational. Besides the comment below, the selection posted on the right of the screen shows that the Beatles had a Dear Prudence song. Upon clicking on the beatles, it's the same lyrics. Imagine that. I'd have never known. Not being much of a Beatles fan. See, educational.
More like the downfall of humanity. Correct information is only as good as its source, and there's a lot of incorrect information on the internet. It is too bad the pixels on this video are too big - I am trying to figure out what Siouxsie is wearing (red/black outfit in the beginning of the video).
Does anyone have a link to a photo of this outfit? I love it!!
For some reason it wasn't letting me post. Then of course when I tested a brief message it went through, go figure. Anyway, LastFM site has a flawless streaming video of Dear Prudence. I own the Twice Upon a Time VHS and will try to convert it with my HD recorder and maybe the quility will be clearer.
Too bad this isn't a clear copy. Robert Smith is adorable as usual in this. I love it when he's dancing around and playing around the top of Siouxsie's head. I remember Robert saying once in an interview how he'd record with the Banshees during the day and then at night with The Cure. He would start singing with Siouxsie by mistake and she'd tell him to stop because he wasn't with The Cure he was with the Banshees, LOL.
No, Siouxsie is a good friend & Robert Smith stood in as the guitarist for the Hyaena LP. It's been said that Robert borrowed Siouxsie's lipstick & continues to be 1 of his trademarks. In the mid 80s Steven from the Banshees and Robert Smith formed The Glove and recorded 1 LP (Blue Sunshine) Robert could only perform lead vocals on 2 tracks (Perfect Murder & Mr. Alphabet Says) Steven's GF continued as lead vocals for the rest of the LP. Robert has been w/ his wife, Mary since he was 14 yrs old.
This song of course was first done by the Beatles, but Siouxsie has such a beautiful voice she pulls it off extremly well. Has been one of my favs for about 25 years now. Did you know the song is about Mia Farrows (Rosemary's Baby) sister, Prudence? John Lennon wrote it for her inviting her "to come out and play" John Lennon thought she was depressed because she'd stay in her room and meditate while she was in India with The Beatles.
God this still sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is great to see more 80's sounding music coming back like La Roux and Florence and the Machine. They all have Siouxsie to thank for the inspiration.

I'm only 14 and I agree with you! There's some (note the some) decent modern bands, but all the really good ones were around 20-30 years ago! I was born too late ¬_¬

I'd give just about anything to be around for the 70s and 80s, if I ever invent a time machine, I'll tell you so I cantake you back with me to when music was good =) Or if I find the Doctor and TARDIS XD lol
yes you were born to late; falling into the toxic train wreck generation Z, but that isnt to say that you are or shall be one of these mainstream dulerds, it just means u will be one of the few in ur demiographic that shall be sampling the to be forgone greymatter of god poets shadowed by capital intended tween(hell spawn) icons like hanna montana. all good music is past until the next (but it is seeming less and less likely) western subcultural movment in indie none profit insinuated music.
I used to think the same way. When i was 14 I listened to nothing but the Beatles, Billy Joel, The Who and other older music. But I gradually found newer music I liked and now i like basically all types of music (except J-pop and 90's dancepop) since you like the beatles so much I would suggest Panic at the Disco's cd "Pretty odd" and i would also suggest finding new bands that cover beatles songs as testing ground to see if you like their sound
Seemed like all of us were sitting on the grass in front of the Jr. High School waiting for our bus, hearing this play on the radio, all of us goofy friends killing time, having fun, and me trying to get to know one of the cheerleader girls who was also in my band class.
Flawless, Flawless, Flawlwss... I think Siouxsie's version of "Dear Prudence" is so beautiful to indulge in. The flow & vocals are so golden & a perfect afrodiziac of celebration, life, colour & such a high. Also such an equally matching video!* I always love dancing to this, I went mad to it a few weeks ago at a club and was spinning around so free spirited... Such a perfect slice of heaven to loose yourself in, I adore this so much. Makes me happy to listen to everytime, this is life and soul!

But I gradually found newer music I liked and now i like basically all types of music (except J-pop and 90's dancepop) since you like the beatles so much I would suggest Panic at the Disco's cd "Pretty odd" and i would also suggest finding new bands that cover beatles songs as testing ground to see if you like their sound

she never really did it for me when she was wearing the makeup (without it she is definitely hot). She still looked cool though.

Siouxsie Sioux (not just "The girl") being called "hot" is an understatement.

All these poseur goths of today owe her a debt of gratitude. She make the punk/goth thing look good at a time when it was unusual.

Damn.
Seemed like all of us were sitting on the grass in front of the Jr. High School waiting for our bus, hearing this play on the radio, all of us goofy friends killing time, having fun, and me trying to get to know one of the cheerleader girls who was also in my band class.
where does the time go.

This one is way better quality than the others. Thanks for posting it.
I love Siouxsie. She is amazing and so talented. She was great in The Creatures too.
