  • Robert smith is in the videos

  • Not the best cover but it's Siouxsie, so it works.

  • I've seen other videos of her on youtube, and the ones that show her bare arms also sometimes show her armpits, and they're quite hairless...maybe it's just the shadow in this video that makes it seem like she has hairy pits.

  • This is actually my favourite version :)

  • i love the 80s

  • in the 80's we were the freaks, but mtv still played our videos back to back against the current of buttrock that we would sneer and laugh at, while waiting to see if our videos would come next. Miss you siouxsie. this was such a wonderful time.

  • Robert Smith is on guitar here

  • did this video filmed in Venice?!?

  • Teenage grandma!

  • No.

  • @asanineartist

does anyone else agree he ruined a comment?

  • does anyone else agree asanineartist is a complete idiot?

  • why on EARTH are you guys discussing armpits?

although, I agree with u, its natural and it is probably there for a very good reason (even tho I dont no wat that reson is)

  • Lol. . . the sad irony is that men & women who are disgusted by hairy pits are the true freaks of nature.

It's frightening to even imagine that many people actually allow such a thing to come between themselves and love & beauty.

  • this song makes me happy and sad at same time...

  • You know, the only thing that would make hairy pits gross if they were sweaty and stinking. But I don't see them as "gross." A woman has pubic hair as well, is that gross? Now I must say, a womans completely shaved private area is occassionally really nice to encounter ! But nothing wrong with a little bush under the arms. Especially on a beautiful woman ! it's only natural. Nothing wrong with natural.

  • Hairy pits horrifying? Oh c'mon...nothing on Siouxsie can be horrifying. But then again, is it mandatory for women to shave their pits? I don't think so. Hairy pits can be even sexy (and kinky too, why not) at times.

  • Right on, bhfabe!

  • Hairy pits or not .... siouxsie is still hot !!!!!

  • Yeah, why couldn't she be bothered to shave them? Yuck!

  • newsflash: Women have hair.

quit policing standards of femmininity. Clearly she is still making a statement when people's reactions to women's REAL bodies are still like this.

  • dumbass.

  • as a fan of the bealtes, i would dare to say that this is an amazing cover.

  • I'd love to stop myself, but who are "The Bealtes"?

  • I feel exactly the same! Dare I say - I actually think it has the edge (eek!)

  • I was recently at my local bar's trivia night and they were playing sound clips of Beatles covers and this was one that came up. I think I got everything else right except this. I didn't even have to name the artist, just the song. The "Look around 'round round" part was what the host of trivia night played and her voice just made me forget all knowledge. Not a bad cover.

  • When this track came up on the album in my car recently, I kept replaying it, over several days, probably a total of about 10 times or so lol...

  • sounds very psycodelic and eri, kinda late 60's dope music

  • try, '80's brittish goth pop.

  • dumbass

  • I think they did a good job on this one.

  • damn-right they did :)

  • this is when she looked her hottest.

  • They should not have attempted this. No. Not at all.

  • robert smith of The curei s so young on this video, nice version of a good beatle song

  • I'm a hardcore Beatles fan who likes the atmosphere of this cover.

  • Me too. ;)

  • MINT choon n vid ! i wasnt born when it came out ( born 92 ) but LOVE siouxsie ! h8 the underarm hr tho :o( URGH ! VERY un-feminine !!!! :o(

  • Ehm, where in this entire video do you see Siouxsie Sioux with arm hair.?

  • look VERY carefully ! but believe me .... its THERE :o( .... shows up even WORSE on BTTR copies ov this vid ! but she.s still gr8 tho . choon is 2 . just a shame abt the u/hr :o( chck out 1969brookie.s copy !

  • this is fucking lame. ... Am I right? Am I right?... (this guy knows what I'm talking about.)

  • Love you Siouxsie!

  • my second favorite song of all time :)

  • love the vid!! Im not sure weather thats special effects or bad quality....?

  • nice version

  • it is good but too fast for my taste, but i like it it is faster but still keeps the original Beatles touch in there =]

  • i love playing this song on rock band

  • Great cover, always good to make it your own. The original is brilliant, love them both xx

  • Cool song! ^_^

  • Meh alright I guess,Beatles versions better.

  • My young wife likes this version better than the Beatles. I need to work on her a bit.

  • people are mean

  • She did it good she Knows this is not a car to wreck.

  • When a current artist or band covers a Beatle song, the current generation of listeners are surprised when they find out that The Beatles were the ones who wrote and sang it because most of them do not have enough musical knowledge to know just how great the Beatles were as a whole and the impact they had around the world, both positive and negative, in such a relative short time span.

  • Well, I remember when this song came out in 1983, and not '84 as stated in the info. For many years after this song came out people actually thought Siouxsie wrote 'Dear Prudence', including many so called Beatles fans. So it just goes to show how much of a "stamp" she put on this song.

  • I loved this when it came out. I am pretty sure I had heard the original version by then and knew it was a cover, but I LOVED this version! It definitely had a stamp of originality on it. I would never say the Beatles were not amazing, but this seriously rocks!

  • amo esta banda la fui a ver cuando vinieron a argentina en un boliche que se llamaba cemento y fue mortal,lo mejorcito de los años 80 en musica punk

  • Robert Smith player.......

  • That's another wonderful thing about YouTube. It's so educational. Besides the comment below, the selection posted on the right of the screen shows that the Beatles had a Dear Prudence song. Upon clicking on the beatles, it's the same lyrics. Imagine that. I'd have never known. Not being much of a Beatles fan. See, educational.

  • I agree. The internet may be the savior of humanity. Ive learned more than 20x more from the internet than high school.

  • you, sir, have been school'd

  • More like the downfall of humanity. Correct information is only as good as its source, and there's a lot of incorrect information on the internet. Just because something is on the internet it doesn't make it true. Wiki is another example of incorrect information; people look at it as a great source of info. It's only a collection of other people's knowledge, or lack of, and I can tell you there's a lot of stuff wrong on there also.

  • Duh x3.

    Youre not teachin anyone there.

Surprising to see you here seeing as you view it as the downfall of humanity.

  • You sound extremely immature. But you're probably a kid, so you don't know any better.

  • Yes, yes of couuurse.

The 'lets call him an immature kid so i dont have to actually respond' trick might work.

  • Well if the shoe fits...

  • Riiiight, riiiight now lets use a line from Toy Story.

  • Let's not and say we did.

  • We did.

  • this cover is so gorgeously done, sorry but I think it's way better than the original from Beatles...

  • There's a different approach in this cover, based on the musical idiom of Siouxsie and the Banshees....

  • "There's a different approach" - totally agreed! I think Siouxsie and the Banshees added something special to it, it has more heart and soul. Beatles version is a little colder and hollow.

  • They did a good job covering a great Beatle song. It is different but not as good as the original. If you knew the story behind the song you wouldn't have even made the statement that the Beatles version is colder and hollow.

  • Well, maybe if YOU knew me, you wouldn't have even made the statement that I don't know the story behind the song. That's my opinion, why is so hard to people to respect other's fucking opinion?

  • they all sang it well

  • I think there is that extra "something" hearing it sung by a woman, begging Prudence to come out to play.

  • Well I'm a huge Beatles fan but I absolutely love what Siouxsie and the Banshees did with this song. It's a superb cover.

  • can't we all just accept that people have different tastes?

some people prefer siouxie to the beatles, and some people think otherwise.

let's just enjoy music for music and not care about what others think. ok?

  • hmmm, and did you steal that language from snoop dogg, H0u5ton3tx?!?!?! Why are you in here if you're going to talk Sh*t about the video?

  • lol snoop dogg? wow leave da gangster to da gangster

  • Voilà ce qu'un belge et une anglaise peuvent produire! siousxie!!!!! c'est pas super ça!!!!!!!

  • this is my favorite cover of this song :) she sings it very well and her voice sorta fits into the song well.

  • This is quiet fantastic

  • I love the Beatles, but your stupid if you think that this isn't better.

  • BETTER? i understand good, but it's nowhere NEAR "better" to the Beatles.

  • Who are you? Some kinda hippie Soulja Boy? Get out of here.

  • who are you? some kinda freak dat likes lame covers Lady Gaga? get out of here. (if ur gonna say shit like dat then dont reply to ANYBODY'S comments hoe)

  • I think you might be demented, though.

Don't worry, it's ok. We're kinda used to it here on YouTube,

  • "lol"...dats all i have to say cuz u cant think of a good comeback.....goodbye -_-

  • robert smith spends most (if not all) of this film clip either spinning around in a circle or walking in a straight line. i love the song though.

  • smiley face

  • i loved her (them) then and still do. This is one of my favorite songs - and this cover is one of my favorite covers. I also like the one by Mountain - Leslie West. Check it out.

  • It is too bad the pixels on this video are too big - I am trying to figure out what Siouxsie is wearing (red/black outfit in the beginning of the video).

Does anyone have a link to a photo of this outfit? I love it!!

  • I uploaded this video right from the Twice Upon A Time VHS and is crystal clear. Just click on my name and you'll find it in my videos.

  • Is it just me or are they trying to hide Robert in this video?

  • ROBERT SMITH! :D

  • LastFM has a HD flawless quility Dear Prudence.

  • For some reason it wasn't letting me post. Then of course when I tested a brief message it went through, go figure. Anyway, LastFM site has a flawless streaming video of Dear Prudence. I own the Twice Upon a Time VHS and will try to convert it with my HD recorder and maybe the quility will be clearer.

  • Ok, I posted "Dear Prudence" and it's clearer so you can see Robert Smith better.

  • Too bad this isn't a clear copy. Robert Smith is adorable as usual in this. I love it when he's dancing around and playing around the top of Siouxsie's head. I remember Robert saying once in an interview how he'd record with the Banshees during the day and then at night with The Cure. He would start singing with Siouxsie by mistake and she'd tell him to stop because he wasn't with The Cure he was with the Banshees, LOL.

  • No, Siouxsie is a good friend & Robert Smith stood in as the guitarist for the Hyaena LP. It's been said that Robert borrowed Siouxsie's lipstick & continues to be 1 of his trademarks. In the mid 80s Steven from the Banshees and Robert Smith formed The Glove and recorded 1 LP (Blue Sunshine) Robert could only perform lead vocals on 2 tracks (Perfect Murder & Mr. Alphabet Says) Steven's GF continued as lead vocals for the rest of the LP. Robert has been w/ his wife, Mary since he was 14 yrs old.

  • This song of course was first done by the Beatles, but Siouxsie has such a beautiful voice she pulls it off extremly well. Has been one of my favs for about 25 years now. Did you know the song is about Mia Farrows (Rosemary's Baby) sister, Prudence? John Lennon wrote it for her inviting her "to come out and play" John Lennon thought she was depressed because she'd stay in her room and meditate while she was in India with The Beatles.

  • God this still sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is great to see more 80's sounding music coming back like La Roux and Florence and the Machine. They all have Siouxsie to thank for the inspiration.

    Great song and Singer

  • If you dont like their music why are you wasting your time watching them.?

  • koriepfrank, That is because your used to listening to garbage, Im sure.

  • Glad122912, That is because your used to listening to a large man breathing heavily in your ear. Open up your mind and your hole.....queer.

  • I didnt realize I was talking to a child when I made the comment, however, now I do. I can tell your at least in your early teens son. Funny how comments give ages away!

  • I didn't realize I was talking to trash when I made the comment, however it has become apparent. If you don't like my opinion, go fuck yourself perhaps. You might run into a few people, other than me, that don't share your same point of view. Prepare yourself for this fact. Life is terrible ey?

  • Im always prepared for kids like you that are angry at what, I dont know. Your I.Q shows by the way you react! Im really sorry some one in your life really pissed you off at some point. And life isn't terrible unless you make it that way all by yourself.

  • I remember listening to her music when I was an outcast back in high school.

  • tell me something?? she was a girlfriend of robert smith?? before he was a singer of the cure???

  • Comment removed

  • i remember hearing my parent's playing this song when i was a kid. I love siouxsie and the banshees so much.

  • I was born in 96, and my mom was a goth, and i was raised on siouxsie, candlebox, smashing pumpkins, and anything else that rocks

  • robert smith!

  • i agree dannydri todays music SUX

  • was about 13 when this was in the charts. what the fuck is wrong with music today????

  • dude there is plenty of good music, you aren't likely to hear it on the radio, but there are good bands today, if you want to discover good bands don't listen to the radio, i have found so many good bands in the last few weeks from wikipedia

  • apparently talking fast is music.

  • If thats the case then I'm writing then forgetting music whenever I'm in a hyper kinda mood, but when I'm depressed I talk slowly.

  • I'm only 14 and I agree with you! There's some (note the some) decent modern bands, but all the really good ones were around 20-30 years ago! I was born too late ¬_¬

  • "I was born too late ¬_¬"

Me too, ugh. You don't know what i'd give to be around 60s and 70s.

    I'm not a big 80s fan, with exceptions. I'm 14 too.

my favorite band are THE BEATLES! of course ^-^

  • I used to think everyone loved The Beatles, untill I started secondry school that is, barely anyone I know thats my age likes them! philistines. I'd give just about anything to be around for the 70s and 80s, if I ever invent a time machine, I'll tell you so I cantake you back with me to when music was good =) Or if I find the Doctor and TARDIS XD lol

  • yes you were born to late; falling into the toxic train wreck generation Z, but that isnt to say that you are or shall be one of these mainstream dulerds, it just means u will be one of the few in ur demiographic that shall be sampling the to be forgone greymatter of god poets shadowed by capital intended tween(hell spawn) icons like hanna montana. all good music is past until the next (but it is seeming less and less likely) western subcultural movment in indie none profit insinuated music.

  • I used to think the same way. When i was 14 I listened to nothing but the Beatles, Billy Joel, The Who and other older music. But I gradually found newer music I liked and now i like basically all types of music (except J-pop and 90's dancepop) since you like the beatles so much I would suggest Panic at the Disco's cd "Pretty odd" and i would also suggest finding new bands that cover beatles songs as testing ground to see if you like their sound

  • JUST PERFECT.

  • I was about 16 when this was out. Thanks for the memories - good times :)

  • this is going on my favorites just cus the girls hot.

  • she never really did it for me when she was wearing the makeup (without it she is definitely hot). She still looked cool though.

  • Siouxsie Sioux (not just "The girl") being called "hot" is an understatement.

  • Fan-fu@$-ing tastic!

  • awesome...just awesome

  • One of the better bands I've seen in concert. What an awesome show

  • Nice cover :D

  • man she is hot & beautiful song

  • I get teary eyed, blessem!

  • Siouxie and venice.......what more could you want....with phasing...gotta love it.

  • Comment removed

  • look!! its Robert Smith!! :D

  • All these poseur goths of today owe her a debt of gratitude. She make the punk/goth thing look good at a time when it was unusual.

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!

  • flawless

  • fuckin killer!

  • Damn.

Seemed like all of us were sitting on the grass in front of the Jr. High School waiting for our bus, hearing this play on the radio, all of us goofy friends killing time, having fun, and me trying to get to know one of the cheerleader girls who was also in my band class.

    where does the time go.

  • Hey Racer,

Tell me about it . Every time I ask my self, where the time does go.

    Regards

  • Flawless, Flawless, Flawlwss... I think Siouxsie's version of "Dear Prudence" is so beautiful to indulge in. The flow & vocals are so golden & a perfect afrodiziac of celebration, life, colour & such a high. Also such an equally matching video!* I always love dancing to this, I went mad to it a few weeks ago at a club and was spinning around so free spirited... Such a perfect slice of heaven to loose yourself in, I adore this so much. Makes me happy to listen to everytime, this is life and soul!

  • This one is way better quality than the others. Thanks for posting it.

I love Siouxsie. She is amazing and so talented. She was great in The Creatures too.

  • Brilliant!
