  • And all the citizens in Hylan 's books were volunteers

  • If, at the end, my life is lost due to misfortune or bad behavior, I still hold that it was my life and worth living

  • 2:21 It's anti-Quark!

  • nobody wants to live their life for others.. But being a good neighbor is not a bad idea...

  • Ya know, I kind of enjoyed the book. Even if you hate it, it makes you think. But I cannot stand the arrogant bigoted foul-mouthed demon that is Glenn Beck.

  • @redshark618

    why is he bigoted,comrade

  • Ayn Rand is a pimple on the ass of humanity, and Glenn Crybaby Beck is the taint.

  • @Simplicimus1945

    why is that,EXACTLY, comrade??

  • Beck has not the intellectual depth to understand anything about Rand. As usual, he's leaping from one ship to another.

  • The Fountainhead is better. Oh, and Glenn Beck is a moron.

  • I endorse Atlas Shrugged lik Glenn Beck, That was the best movie I had ever seen.

  • this should have been more of a period piece, too much technology, everything is too clean and nice.. it doesn't have the look of a country collapsing from looting

  • I much prefer Robert Heinlein's view that he espoused in "Starship Troopers" (ignore the Paul Verhoeven movie - that doesn't touch all of RH's ideas) - that only the civilians who serve their country through conscripted service (whether it be military or equivalent) should be allowed to vote.

  • @Niven42 Like Rand, Heinlein condemned altruism, but he praised generosity. I don't Rand could tell the difference.

  • @Niven42 If that is Heinlein's view, it's revolting. No one should be conscripted; conscription means that the government owns you. If the state wants soldiers, it should bid for them in the open market just like any other employer.

  • The biggest fallacy of Ayn Rand's philosophy is that every person is capable of controlling their own destiny, and that "bad things can't happen to good people". Bad things happen to even the best prepared person, and the evidence is around us every day.

  • think about it the people who reviewed this were the liberals who hate this philosophy.

  • this looked shitty, and got bad reviews, but this clip was really engaging.

  • Look at the ego of that office.lol Fuckin' Hank.

  • Just look at the Rearden Steel sign, it looks a cheap flimsy poster. They made this movie so cheaply and so stupidly. Why did they take such a grand work and reduce it to such a shitty movie? It almost seems like they made it awful on purpose.

  • Typical neo-conservative they refused to put the money into a project to make a great movie out of a great book. They illustrated the book by there failure to spend the money to do it well.

  • Nothing wrong with the acting....very good and tells the story well

  • Atrocious acting and inane dialogue. This movie looks ridiculous.

  • Reardon metal IS good. Dr. you can eat my shorts.

  • I have the unabridged audiobook of "Atlas Shrugged." I am afraid to listen to it, because of the preachiness for selfishness that the book is said to be soaked in. Read Whittaker Chambers' famous/infamous review of the book. One man said that Atlas Shrugged is not a book for young people to read, because it supports a weird combination of capitalism and anarchy. I hope I'll be strong enough to get through the LONG book without degenerating my charity for others. What has anyone else heard on it?

  • @ryanellis000 perhaps you should actually read the book and decide for yourself, rather than having other people decide for you. If you're tired of being told that your life is not your own, and that you must live for the good of your neighbor only, you should probably read Atlas Shrugged.

  • @ryanellis000 If you want to live your life for others, don't read the book. If you want to make the world a better place, read the book.

  • @TumisHumis

actually, people who want to life their lives for others would probably benefit more from the book, but other than that, you're right =)

  • @TumisHumis You can do more for others by living for yourself than if you sacrificed yourself to others. It takes a little thinking to understand, but its true. Look at Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Those 2 men, working in self-interest, helped more people in the 21st century than every altruist on the planet.

  • @apnwahoowa If you disagreed with my statement, and believe what you've said, you've clearly misread what i said.

  • @TumisHumis no no no I agree with you I was just writing what came to my mind when I read your comment.

  • @apnwahoowa Sad that Glen Beck's dumb ass indorses Atlas Shrugged. He probably loved the movie and couldn't get through the book.

  • @TumisHumis *endorses

  • @ryanellis000 The book itself is fantastic. If you understand the message it contains. It makes you want to be a better person and stand up for what you believe to be true. I am not in full agreement with Ayn Rands' philosophy but I do agree with a lot of what she offers in the book itself. I feel everyone should read 'Atlas Shrugged' just to get a glimpse of where we are heading. And where we are now.

  • @ryanellis000 The book doesn't go against charity. It goes against government interference with economies.

  • @ryanellis000 It also goes against bad philosophies and social ideals.

  • @ryanellis000 It's not that bad. There's a famous plot twist about halfway through it, that alone makes the book worth reading, but the first half is very challenging to get through. Ayn takes her time telling the story. At least she understood that "sex sells", and although it is a little dated now, I'll bet that it was somewhat scandalous when it was first written. Her Dagny character certainly was way ahead of her time, and even today, she would epitomize the strong, liberated woman.

  • @ryanellis000 i'm 17 myself and just finished it so i suppose that makes one of those 'young people' XD although you were right about the capitaliam bit, it's only anarchy in the sense that she doent like a government that can take away anyone's rights or their ability to prosper. dont decide whether or not to read it based on that review because the but isn't just political, but was written to showcase how she believed men should live, what they should value and how they should look at life

  • Excellent scene selection . . . the movie experience gets better with each viewing.
