foremans power was good but im not surprised. he's big. imagine if he wasnt a heavy weight. he'd be absolutely CRAP! he's got the skills of a taxi driver...
Masterclass by Ali. Less rope-a-dope than I remembered, he's outboxing the increasingly exhausted Foreman in sporadic bursts. He looks like an accomplished veteran shooling an impudent youngster. One thing about Ali people tend to forget was his incredible physical strength: he's holding and shoving the hulking Foreman like a woman at times (Norton and Frazier were helpless against him), showing that brains with brawn will ace brawn alone any day of the week.
In not talking about their personas or character im relating to rocky 3 because sly used the same tactic on lang.. He tired him out and knocked him out lol
Foreman had no plan to go more than a few rounds, he punched himself out. Ali's tactical brain won this one. I think thats why Fraizer did so well, because he had the heart to go that distance and still take Ali's best shots.
rope a dope perhaps but Ali is in total command of this fight from start to finish. All these myths about how he took a savage beating and then came back. Nonsense. Ali kicked his ass in almost every round.
@multipleman78 couldnt agree more. my mate told me to watch this fight coz ali looked guaranteed to lose... i totally couldnt agree more with you, nonsence!
i think alis folk aka don king had the ropes made looser on purpose and i think the right hand leads totally surprised foreman as top champions work on miliseconds
and great reflexes and i gaurantee none of foremans sparring fighters threw any right leads as its a huge insult to throw 1 as it suggests your slow enough to be hit and for 30 dollars a day no sparring partners gonna enrage foreman by trying it so ali was thinking very wisely.
This is my favourite fight of all time, for a million reasons.Tactical, technical and psychological perfection from Ali,true pugilistic mastery,in the heart of Africa. This is the fight that most showed his genius
To think that Ali was already past his prime and managed to handle a fearsome fighter like Foreman is amazing. If this was the Ali of the 60's he would have just slipped punches in the middle of the ring like he did with Liston but being older he had to rely on experience, brains, and his still lightning fast hands. His combinations coming off the ropes are still a thing of beauty.
the end of this round was crazy jim was right on " Ali is unbelivable" i mean we all know ali wins but imagine watching it live that night. your proably thinking wtf is ali doing getting fucked up on the ropes than booom he comes out shooting... we would later find out the masterful gameplan behind ali
A few things that are not usually discussed about Ali. One is his incredible chin. Second, his physical condition and third his heart. He survived brutal fights based on many attributes, including these three.
OMG round number 5 is so crazy at the end ALI just tired out Foreman and than just burst out with some crazy combinations that had foreman SHOOK! Ali is hands down the best boxer in the world!! VERY GENIUS and his ACCURACY is crazy!
Ali is not the best boxer of all time, but he is, without question, the best heavyweight champion of all time. No other heavyweight champion beat a trio of fighters as good as Liston, Frazier, and Foreman, not to mention a long list of excellent contenders, including Quarry, Shavers, Norton, Bonavena, Lyle -- Ali ducked no one and beat them all. And this is Ali's greatest fight -- a mix of brains, technique, skill and creativity that no one can match. Ali is supreme!!!!!
He seems to use a strange tactic of fighting with his back against the ropes. Not sure if this is to conserve energy or set his opponents up for a switch of some kind??

ali said, when he was asked for his tactic for the fight:
"Gonna get over there an punch him in the face, let him know he´s in a fight"

I have watched 50 of Ali's 60 fights, and trust me, Ali was mysteriously as fast as he was in his prime in this fight.
He was just impressive.
