This is one of thee most DYSFUNCTIONAL family shows on t.v! Seems since the 80's, starting with The Simpson's, Married With Children and Rosanne, there has been a dark, anti family values, counter productive, dysfunctional parenting campaign being put on t.v. Ironically funny to me is not one of these so called "Family Values" censoring organizations has yet to publicly address the downslide of this or any one of the sexualized commercials & informercials, aired 24/7 that kids see.

Okay, what I find so stupid about this show is how they stay married when all they do is subtly and not so subtly put each other out there. I rarely see their kids (very few shows are they present but with no speaking lines) but you see plenty of *evidence* they have kids. How does a woman marry a man who has a dense, cynical mother like that--and buys a house RIGHT across the street--and his brother is only a few houses down?? Are you KIDDING me? Sad part is..there ARE people just like that!

Actually, there is a way you can tell.

Good chances are that when the actors pause and let the audience do some laughing, and the laughing sounds different every time, they are in front of an audience. Although, do not trust Mr. Boyle when it comes to these things because he always talks while the audience is laughing, which is considered by manner standards to be rude. Bu I'm in no place to judge. I'm just sharing what I know, which is not a lot.

agreed, the audience is definitely live, although i think they splice and edit scenes together, so sometimes they have to edit sound effects and prerecorded audience reactions from other episodes of the show
