in terms of base HP, attack, defense and special defense, Dragonite is much stronger than Charizard.

Charizard is faster and has better special attack.

But it also depends what nature and level they have. :| (nerd moment)

For one Charazard can learn Dragon moves which are the strogest thing against a dragon type 2 Charazard has a better speed then D-nite 3 Charazard is fire and not strong against water but can survive a surf or anyother water attack if it has special items I know I survived a level 100 surf with level 76 and still owned D-nite in 1 hit.
