  • hey where u download this song?

  • oh man that is a sweet Rickenbacker!

  • is this in the original key? what key is it?

  • Thank you so much for posting! I'm learning this part for my worship team and this video really helped me out; good job :)

  • cool dude

  • Very nice Rickenbacker. :)

  • We play it different at my church look a my vid. its how we play at my church

  • hey man, thnx a bunch, your tabbing is real good, and i love the way you show the tab and the 'hits' on the bottom of the vid, really organized.

  • @paulengelking — My church changed the key to the key of "A," so it would be more sing-able. I learned the song that way to play it at my church. I would have been confused if I had tabbed the song out in the original key since I was not playing it at that key anyways. Do you know what Planning Center Online is? I love it.

  • @overcometheidiots The only A on bass close to head of bass is 2G!

  • @overcometheidiots The only A on bass close to head of bass is 2G!Should use more melody since it's toward God.

  • @overcometheidiots my church uses planing center also, by the way i understand when u have to change the note, i do it all the time. Great cover. I look u up most of the time. by the way wat program do u use to add your tabs on screen?

  • @TheKoreanX — I love it too. Have you heard the new version of it from the new Passion CD ("Here For You")? I am surprised at the great amount of views that this video has gotten. I posted a new video this morning for the Hillsong United track, "Salvation Is Here." Please go and watch it now!

  • I got a question, why go thru the trouble and change the key to A? Why not just tab it in B?

  • I love this song

  • @AllThePupil — haha. I have got huge hands if you couldn't tell already. I was playing the exact notes that if you took the time to listen to the song and play what you heard you would hear. Maybe my behemothic hands came off polysemous.

  • @AllThePupil — You're wrong. I tabbed out exactly what the bassist played. You know sometimes two notes work interchangeably for the same part.

  • @overcometheidiots lol well in the vid it sure doesn't look like it to me, the way that you move your finger from 2nd thread on E to 5 thread on A, then 0 thread on A. 0:45

  • wrong tab at the beginning already, E is 2 not 5

  • @brianwahlband — Thank you very much! I have gotten burned out from making so many videos. Pray I can/may get the acumen to return to the foray. What do you do for God?

  • The scripture reference for the bridge (If our God is for us...) is from Romans 8:31-34. Not sure if that's been mentioned yet.

I'm going to send our bass players here if they ever get stuck on songs that you've tabbed out. Great resource!

  • @yynabagsicpogi — I don't want to cover Toby Mac. He's cheesy.

  • you're great sir! can i request something? please upload your video with the bass lesson of tobymac's "break open the sky".. that's a great song..

  • you're great sir! can i request something? please upload your video with the bass lesson of tobymac's "break open the sky".. that's a great song..

  • @spazziasianxd — I am doing "Reaching For You," by Lincoln Brewster, next hopefully. What's your fave song ever?

  • can you please do one for power of your name by lincoln brewster? i'm not quite talented enough to play a riff that comprises of more than one note per measure :T

  • @funkybassman02 — Your bass looks fast & punchy. Is it active? My bass cost me $1650. It used to be fireglow. It was re-finished natural with black binding. The neck pick-up's a Seymour Duncan replacement. The bridge pick-up's original. It plays and sounds amazing. It had a pro set-up by Michael Koontz, Jack White & Kid Rock's personal guitar tech. It needs nothing & has no issues. The pots are good. It's a piece of American history. I love its original chrome hardware & neck-through body.

  • @funkybassman02 — It is a 1977 Rickenbacker 4001. Unfortunately, the previous owner sanded off the paint and put what looks like a clear coat over it decades ago. It has great tone with a pick or if one played it with the fingers. The neck feels great, because it's long-broken-in. What kind of bass do you play?

  • @overcometheidiots Im playing an Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear its a 5 string but nothing compared to Rickenbackers how much did that cost ya

  • hey whats kind of bass is that?

  • @MrIndestructible29 — Thank you very much! I am currently band-less. If you want a bassist, I am here! What is your instrument au fait? How are you indestructible?

  • Nice cover bro. Do u play in any sort of band?

  • @cscontwrkn — Ok. :) Watch all of my videos, and please favorite and like them!

  • oh okay i was confused, and yeah i play the bass. its fun i love it, and your videos help out alot!

  • @cscontwrkn — I listened to the song for the bass part, and I wrote down the notes that I heard the bassist play. Then I acquainted myself with how to play those same notes that I had picked up. Finally, I made the video. Sometimes the guitar plays with a capo. No matter what the guitars are playing on this song, I am playing exactly what the bass is playing in this song. Do you play the bass guitar?

  • hey um how would you play the original song...cuz it says that its on capo 4 and starts off with the E chord for the guitar so how would that work for the bass?

  • @OrangeMango30 — I use Medium Fender guitar picks. I bought a pack of 500 for $30. I've not had to buy picks for almost two years! haha. Go and buy a pack of Fender medium picks. Bass picks usually entail Heavy picks. I think that's stupid. I love my Felt pick, though. It gives a mix between finger-style and picking. It's a great transition pick if you'd like to do that. Get picks and tell me what you think about them!

  • @larooster77 — Thanks! I just posted an epic Hillsong Live song, called "Forever Reign," on my page. Please check it out. I think you should check it out in order to consider it for your church to play it! Tell me what you think!

  • @OrangeMango30 — Thanks! Have you seen my latest video, which is for Jesus Culture's "How He Loves?" It's epic. I always use a pick. I can play with my thumb, which sounds all right. I can't play finger style. I think one can keep a more even tempo playing with a pick. I also like the punchier and louder sound gotten through playing with a pick. How do you play?

  • @overcometheidiots I use fingerstyle myself, but mainly because i don't have any bass picks, just guitar picks. Fingerstyle for me sounds warmer and more natural, but i've only been playing bass for about a month and i'm not all that fast yet :D

  • Amazing cover man. Do you always use a pick or do you do fingerstyle sometimes?

  • @TheZednaught — I play a 2008 American Fender Jazz bass & a 1977 Rickenbacker 4001 bass. They both are exquisite basses. They have great tone. Where do you go to get your bass refinished? If you do get it done, send me a picture of the before and after! I just posted a new Jesus Culture song video on my page. Check it out!

  • @TheZednaught — Thanks! It's good to know exactly what to play. It takes away the stress from the song. Stay tuned for my next video, which will be for the song, "I Want To Know You," by Jesus Culture. What kind of bass do you play?

  • @overcometheidiots Sweet sounds good! I actually have a BC Rich Bronze Series Warlock. Not the best tone but it has a unique and pretty wicked-looking body. I chose it because I was into metal and all that dark stuff at the time, but one of my goals is to have it refinished and put "Even the wicked can be used for God's will" or something along those lines on it. I'm not really a bass expert, but what do you use?

  • That was awesome, I couldn't find the tabs anywhere! So simple, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Keep doing what you do man, this is great.

  • @vivo4music — Thank you very much, man! I have newer videos you could additionally audition for your eyes and ears (and heart). hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I just posted a video last night. Hopefully tonight I will post another video! Stay tuned for all of that!

  • @rokr4Christ — Thanks for your thanks! How did your performance of the song go? Is your dad in the worship band you're in at your church? How is the song-selection at your church? Do you get to play cool songs? P.S. I just posted a new video for the Christmas song, "Christ Is Here," by Todd Fields. Check it out! I also have yet another video that I am going to post hopefully tonight!

  • Wow great job

  • omgsh! i love you sooo much! thank you so much for this! im doing this song with my dad in church!

  • @dangerofthought — What do you mean about changing the accenting? What I play is spot-on to the original bassist. I did not just get the notes correct, but I also tabbed the places they fell according to what one hears as the bassist arranged. Thanks. Thanks. What album is coming out soon that you anticipate with excitement?

  • Cool cover, love the bass. I think theres somethings I would do differently with the timing of the notes and accenting the really big parts, but all the notes sound right on. Good stuff dude.

  • @adrian0120 — I know! It's my dream bass. It's a 1977 Rickenbacker 4001. It was set up by Michael Koontz, the guitar tech for Jack White and Kid Rock here in Detroit. Surprisingly, you're the first person to comment about my Ricky, and I've used it in videos for a few months! You don't see a lot of Rick's lately. What do you play?

  • love the ricky

  • @acLewBert — Thanks, man! Yeah, our music/youth pastor uses software to get the music set in a more sing-able key (the software might be part of the website, PlanningCenterOnline, which we use and love). Thanks for letting the viewers know this! Usually I can't tell when he changes the key, but sometimes I can, and it's HILARIOUS! It's like those scenes in movies where someone's drugged, and they perceive people speaking in a deep voice.

  • Just note (to people in general) that he is playing this song in the key of A, a whole step lower from the original recording sung by Chris Tomlin in Passion 2010 (that was in B). You did a TERRIFIC cover, sir!!.

  • @mfgbassist — Thank you very very much, man! It is totally the joy in me that you receive any sort of blessing from my videos! I am going to tab and cover "Like A Lion," by David Crowder*Band, from the 2010 "Passion: Awakening" album. I am pumped to do that song! What great, fresh P&W music are you listening to right now?

  • awesome video man god bless u keep it up thanks for the tabs i keep playing this song on my bass

  • @geofbass — Thank you very much! I hope you got a lot of good use out of this video! p.s. My newer videos sound better. I've been teaching myself how to record the audio for these movies slowly but surely for a while!

  • Its sound really nice.

  • I have also looked for a video on youTube for "While I'm Waiting" by John Waller, and there are none! An awesome song and strong on bass I think! Any way I could put in a request?

  • Overcometheidiots- Im glad you have been able to reflect on how you have changed someone's life! You should be proud! I've been watching your video and playing along nightly, again bragging to my church that I'll be ready soon! I can't thank you enough again for what this means!

I look forward to the new lessons coming from you and hope your headphones get replaced soon.

As of right now I do not know of any traveling praise bands, but will pray that you find one soon enough! U deserve it!

  • @SOCPastor — You are my source of so much joy right now! Thanks for checking in and commenting! My headphones were stolen a few days ago, and I rely on them for these videos. I am currently narrowed down to two or three pairs that I am going to choose from to buy as a replacement. Then I've got one song ready to go and then a dozen more. Among these are songs by Switchfoot and Paramore as well as praise bands of course; all fresh 2010 material. Do you know any touring praise groups needing bass?

  • Hey there!

I must say you have been an answered prayer!! I am the Youth Pastor of SOCs (Soldiers of Christ) in Roanoke, Va. at Valley View Wesleyan. Our church as well plays awesome music like this one! The "SOCs" are going to Chris Tomlin's concert on Oct 21 and my goal was to learn how to play bass before that date and I have never played a note before in my life! With your video, I am now able to play it and just after 2 days! Thanks SO much for the blessing! I look forward to new songs!

  • @nelsoncar1 — Thanks! As an untaught bassist that isn't fancy at all, all I hope is to be able to learn & play all those walks that the REAL bassists rock without being gaudy! I hope you got something good from this!

  • very nice
