  • holy shit, what a great version!

  • damn!! this is my favorite song of buckwheat zydecos!!! too hip man!! and look how young dwight looks......nice!!

  • I blistered the bottoms of my feet dancing barefoot in Nanaimo BC of all places,- he played in the summer of 2001 I think it was,. couldn't walk for 3 days til the swelling went down,.best gig of my life! I kissed you Buck,.but I wasn't trying to get into your pants,. even though u gave me 'that ' look-it was an innocent ,I just simply LOVE 'im-for ages already!

  • are those girls pretty or what?

  • wow, wish I'd heard of him sooner, he's freaking amazing!

  • I am Dwight Yoakams biggest fan! I love this version! Way to go Dwight & Buckwheat! From British Columbia!

  • I was very impressed and equally disturbed by Dwight Yoakam's acting in "Slingblade." That fucker has a real dark side he was able to tap into for that role...but then don't we all?

  • I can't believe this was 21 years ago... la vie passe trop vite!

  • "Buckwheat Zydeco is the stage name of Stanley Dural, Jr. (born November 14, 1947), an American accordionist and zydeco musician. He is one of the few zydeco artists to achieve mainstream success. His music group is formally billed as Buckwheat Zydeco and Ils Son Partis Band, but often they perform as merely Buckwheat Zydeco."

  • Hate to poop on your parade normandy36, but the name of Buckwheat's band is in fact "Buckwheat Zydeco"

  • Zydeco is not a name of a band. it means the fast dance

  • Hi everybody, I'm from Switzerland which means that I live pretty far away from the southern US. But I like to tell you that this version of «Hey Good Lookin'» is the most charming, most gentle, most likeable, most wonderful, most relaxed piece of music I heard since my mother sang me my favorite lullaby.

  • @Bittaglia IS IT COLD OVER THERE?

  • This is not Buckwheat Zydeco. Buckwheat Zydeco is the name of a band. This is Buckwheat, Dwight Yoakum and David Hidalgo (of Los Lobos). But they are sweet as honey aren't they. I've been following him a long time, since he was playing withClifton Chenier. A friend of mine played guitar with his band. My friend was billed as "The White Jimmy Reed." He was the only white guy in the band and of course Jimmy Reed is a famous black blues man.

  • @john9944 It was credited as Buckwheat Zydeco in the credits when it was broadcast on CMT years ago

  • so is this the same artist singin "my toot toot" ?

  • @LaaaMaZ He's the one!

  • @6gentex ah ok, and the hole name is Buckwheat Zydeco? = )

  • @LaaaMaZ That's the stage name of guy playing the accordion. The official name of he and his band is actually Buckwheat Zydeco and Ils Son Partis Band, but normally just go by Buckwheat Zydeco. The guy in the cowboy hat is Dwight Yoakam.

  • @6gentex ah got u thx, ah I know him Dwight = )

  • I keep watching this over and over ... man, what a great video! So much fun ... BTW, who's the cutie (guy) fishing? :)

  • They must have made this video before Karl Childers split Doyle Hargraves head open with that lawn mower blade.......

  • As of June 10, 2011, I personally have but question, how on earth can any one person dislike this great rendtition of one of the greatest tunes on God's green earth, let alone having three more tone deaf simpletons chime in, unbelievable?!?!

  • Love this song and the video :)

  • @mmcattle don't know, but they go on until they make a spectacular *** of themselves. ;)

  • Remember when CMT actually played music videos? And not just the top 10? This got heavy rotation back in '90. Loved it then, love it now.

  • ANYTHING WITH DWIGHT.........BESIDES THIS IS COOL.....

  • Them beans about done?

  • Oh yes, 1:50 and 3:50 the accordion player always gets the chicks B-) ooh

  • Well it ain't sweet home Alabama but I do love the times I can get down Louisiana way. The South just has a vibe (see Atlanta et al), a funk (see Memphis and no others), a groove (you get the picture), a soul, and a character like no other. I love this version perhaps better than the original. Ahhh...I can taste the catfish at Middendorf's on my way into the Easy. Lez le bon temps roule!!!

  • What's not to like? Dwight 's tang, Pretty girls. Old Ford Truck, Buckwheat Zydeco doing a kick-ass version of a Hank Sr. tune. I could listen to this all night!

  • wasssup!!

  • billy's got some fangs on him.

  • Do me eyes deceive me, or is that Dwight Yokum?

  • @rmachayes

Yes !! it's Dwight Yoakam, a very good surprise !

  • @rmachayes Sure it. He just spells it a bit differently. His voice really adds to the arrangement. At least, I think so.

  • That's also Dwight Yoakam in the denim shirt and cowboy hat, and I think Billy Ray Cyrus in the red plaid shirt

  • @ellenborovfd1934 Its David Hidalgo from Los Lobos...Not Billy Ray Dufus.

  • can i ask all you cajun experts, please.

I am from england and i remember seeing a documentary about one of the early greats. he was black and at one of his concerts a white woman wiped his brow and he got a severe beating from which he died sometime later. Is it true and who was he please?

  • @harrykee The musician you may be talking about is Amédé Ardoin. Look him up on wikipedia.

  • @harleyheifer

Thanks harley, I did find it out myself. It was indeed Amede Ardoin, Thanks very much.

Была бы лодка мы бы плыли с тобой!

  • GOTTA LUV BUCKWHEAT AND HIS GOOD TIME MUSIC !!!

  • Kicks my ass right up between my shoulder blades. Woo hoo, it feel so good.

  • Damn, that was enjoyable and fun..

  • I just have to visit Louisiana and mostly New Orleans sometime so that I can hear this kind of music live, love it.

  • @Viktoriskane91 I live in New Orleans. If you want to hear amazing music and you're a teenager come during Voodoo fest. If you're older, come during Jazzfest. Either one is amazing

  • @Graciebellxx Okey, I'll do that, that time of the year is the festivals??

  • @Viktoriskane91 Voodoo fest is in October on halloween weekend, this year they got Drake, MGMT, Muse, Cage The Elephant, and Ozzy Osborne and also tons of other bands. Jazzfest is in May.

  • @Graciebellxx Voodoo fest sounds pretty cool, not exactly surprised that Ozzy shows up for a Voodoo fest but as I said, it sounds cool.

Which one of the two festivals do you prefer?

  • @Viktoriskane91 I'm sorry to pop your bubble...but Buckwheat and Zydeco music doesn't come from New Orleans. Lafayette (central LA) is where you find true Zydeco music. I know Buckwheat personally, what a wonderful gentlemen.

  • The ultimate feel good, summer in the sun song!

Thanks for the high quality sound and video.

  • I love this version of Hank Williams old hit...

    Good motorsickle song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK VEVO

  • awesome video buds

  • It's one of the songs you can "Les Bout Temp Rouler" too

  • It's LOUISIANA yeah we got the best of it all ,just read in that LOUISIANA has the happiest people and the most unhappy..New York.

  • HA! Came here from a link because only the guy in the orange shirt was pictured in the link and I was going to point out that B.Z. is Black! LOL

The song is Country and Western. Written by Hank Williams and he wasn't even born in Louisiana (born in Alabama). Although he did seem to have a fondness for La. as noted by a couple of his songs, i.e. his hit Jambalaya.

Another C&W link: Guy in the hat is Dwight Yoakam

  • @MaeNotEast I'm from here in LA. This should help clear up your delima. Yes, the song was written by Hank Williams and is/was a country western song. The three guys Dwight Yoakam...and Buckwheat, personalized the song...worked up the rhythm in a zydeco blend. I believe American Idol calls it "personalize or make it your own."

  • @adamfarms No dilema at all, I was just sayin'. ;-) (Actually I was laughing at myself cuz I got fooled by the pic in the link.) With deep Acadian roots of my own, I share Hank's fondness for all things Loozianne. Old Cajun tunes bear an almost eerie resemblance to old French Canadian airs. And you just can't beat those 'get-your-feet-moving' rhythms of Zydeco tunes. Only been down there once, but it was just like going home. Can't wait to go home again.

  • @MaeNotEast I understand now.....well, if you ever return to Louisiana....look me up..we have place down here on the bayou to put you up. I'd enjoy exploring and sharing your Acadian roots. I'll even introduce you to Buckwheat. Real nice man...the whole band is awesome. Keep the Acadian/French/Zydeco love moving!

  • bonjour, de belgique belgium

  • Good music and HOT chicks what more can you ask for

  • This song has been covered by dozens of people,This has to be one of my favourites!

    BZ have made accordians cool!

  • i don;t where you people are from, this is NOT zydeco !

  • ok 052 bitch..trll me what is zydeco

  • @ThePaulaann1999 Zydeco is the music of the black french culture originating in south central Louisiana.

  • duh it southern creole,,u no nothin about that

  • @ThePaulaann1999 I'm sorry ..dear....but Cerole is not correct. The black African American culture gave birth to this music. Ceroles are considered to be the 1st generation of the colony...which means black and white mix....white and indian mix. Also, Creoles usually had a good education and social status. That is not Zydeco roots.

  • To me it sounds similar to Clifton Chenier, Beau Joque, and several other zydeco bands I listen to. So to me this is zydeco. Whats the point in placing on a genre on everything anyway isnt it all just music? Why can we just have fun and listen, cause it sure sounds like they're having fun playing on the recording.

  • @buttersworth13 I know exactly what kind of music this is: Kick ass music! ;-) How cool to see Buckwheat, David Hildalgo and Dwight Yoakam tearing it up on aHank Williams song!

  • O YES !

  • very good country creole music
