I first heard of Transformers when they were playing i think maybe it was Cybertron on Cartoon Network. The only names I memorized were Optimus Prime and Megatron.

It wasn't terribly successful. When Hasbro got wind of it, however, they bought the line and renamed it Transformers, and Hasbro and Takara have been working together on it ever since.

I find the first season to be mostly dated including this theme tune. Not that the later seasons had consistently good episodes but they didn't seem as dated.
Boring adults should stop calling The Transformers a kindergartener's show. It's for anybody who likes it, including me, who's a 14-year old teenager. I couldn't watch The Transformers when I was 6 since when I was so young, to me the show was too complicated.
@Gizmo21312 some thought it was too complicated, others memorized the entire first episode in minute detail so they could watch it in their heads after lights-out. Still, just 'cause it's aimed at children doesn't mean it's not terrific.
@Gizmo21312 Anyone who calls The Transformers a "kindergartener's show" obviously hasn't watched it long enough to get to the even more brutal battles and convoluted story arcs of the later seasons. This show is, in my opinion, one of the great Sci-Fi classics like Star Trek.
