  • Ed Devereaux went on to help market kangaroo meat. True ! (As far as I know, anyway - saw an article noting his unpopularity in some sectors of society.)

  • Skippy went on to be the Australian PM

  • I thought skippy was an australian dolphin..

  • Tellement de souvenirs !!!

  • Skippy...I love you !

  • What a memory!

  • ...it brings tears to my eyes

  • @moonboots69 eye

  • You know, even if it was possible to teach a Kangaroo to communicate in such an sophicated of sounds that can cover any possible situration, it still doesn't mean it would be able to save people's lives.

If someone was in trouble she would more likely stand there and watch them die. Why should she care? they arn't her owner. Training a kangaroo to have a sense of humanity is the biggest strecth of imagination

  • Visited the ranger house in the 80s.

It was left just as it was after the last day of filming.

Was filmed just outside of Sydney in a place called Waratah National Park.

I understand they had a fire so I dont know if it's still standing.

Used to pass it on the way to Palm beach where they film Home and away

  • why do they call him skippy when he jumps they shouldv called him jumpy

  • NojewishNo - Hahahaha what a twat you are

  • the copyright on the credits states 1968, not 1966.

  • shit jewish made fuck

  • As the final season was drawing near its end, "Skippy" (real name Jonathan Gallagher) went through a lengthy depression. At the peak of his acting career, he was forced to turn down many job offers feeling that he was being misunderstood and type cast. In 1979 he was committed to drug rehabilitation in Adelaide, where he remained until late 2009. He currently resides in Siberia, where he lives the quiet life of a woodsman, with his partner Russian screen-writer Stanislav Lubushkin.

  • @Knobbingham I had to read your comment twice - what, Skippy wasn't the kangaroo? You are a nut, therefore I salute you.

  • @Knobbingham They called him Skippppppy, Skipppy, Skippy the bush kangaroo; Skipppppppy. Skippppy, Skippy a friend ever true.

  • 22 people don't have a bush(kangaroo)...

  • love skippy i still watch it nearly everyday on tv like around 1am i think

  • skippy con el zafrada....

  • How do you kill a kangaroo? GRAB HIS BALLS, MATE!!!

  • @TheSnowballEarth You're not Australian, are you? They can retract their balls into their body's so if they get kicked in the crotch they're fine. Rather awesome really... True story.

  • @computergasm So The Mighty Boosh episode "Killeroo" lied?

  • @TheSnowballEarth ...The Mighty Boosh... THATS the reference your'e going with? Good one bro...

  • We went to the National Park back in 1978,and like all dumb kids all of us were asking which of the many roos there was the real Skippy, and whether she had laryngitis because none were doing "CH,CH" of Skippy. The Ranger's house and the National park are now sadly in a bad state.

  • LOL, I just checked the roman numerals at the end, the comments say that it is the 19 66 opening, but, MCMLXVIII, is 1968.

  • 22 idiots unliked this good video

  • WE WANT TO HAVE THE 60'S 70'S 80'S SERIES BACK !!!!!!!!

  • @woodstockhippie7 DEFINATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have been called skippy for as long as I can remember. Dam you Paul Lewis.

  • I think I've just come

  • Oh, and Ken James is a bit of a babe ;).

  • Aaw, I want to be skippys best friend :).

  • I know a good story about the production of Skippy.

When the late, great Frank Thring guest starred on the show and first arrived on set he spied a large hessian sack tied to a tree branch containing a large bulky object. Upon enquiring as to it's purpose he was told Skippy was kept inside the sack between takes because it was the best way to keep the wild animal "quiet".

"My God," he drawled. "If that's the star of the show's dressing room then I dread to think what you're going to give me!"

  • what happened to all the good old TV shows?

  • I get the feeling from this everytime I watch it that the little boy wasn't to keen on petting the Kangaroo. Might even been a tad afraid of it. If you watch close there are some small hesitations in his body language. I cant blame him any as they smell bad and those claws can rip you up good. I enjoyed them when I was in Australia and saw them in the wild many times. Even in my yard.

  • Skippy one of the best Kangaroo ever!!!

  • Ken James looks just like that Bieber faggot

  • Skippy, one of the great Australian actors.

  • Comment removed

  • @truetony383 <_< my god you sound so so so fucking cute O_O cuteeeeee!!!!

  • We used to watch and love that in 1980's (in former communist Czechoslovakia). We also enjoyed The Professionals (CI5), Dempsey and Makepeace and lots of other TV series from UK/US/Australia/West Germany etc. under communism. Both sides of the iron curtain spewed lots of BS propaganda against each other, but in everyday reality, we went along quite well (if communists were THAT bad, they wouldn't buy and broadcast TONS of American movies etc.). And people genuinely enjoyed watchin all that. :-)

  • @jakubkrcma >_> Skippy is not comunist all right?? leave alone skippy...

  • I've spent most of my life in the bush but have yet to meet a roo as smart as Skippy,,,

  • I remember this when I was a kid. They used to play the episodes in Cuba when I was growing up. For the guy who said we were all faggots, I'm sorry you do not have innocent childhood memories you can relate to, your childhood must have been rough.

  • @CubanadelCerro,yes,I remember too,I was actually a teen (oh my God!..,14 years)

and it make me back in the time for.........THREE DECADES,yeap, for 30 years,I can't beleive it to myself, you know what I mean?.By the way,you are from "El Cerro de la Habana"?,I am from not so far from there,I am from Centro Habana,see?...greetings for you,bye,bye....

  • yall some faggots

  • I used to watch this on sunday afternnon in french lol

  • Great stuff, great times. This brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting.

  • they banned it in Sweden cos they said it wasn t true to life what did they mean by that? a piano playin, drum bashin,. speedboat drivin ,crime bustin, kangeroo comes on the telly and they have to pick out faults in him some people are never happy

  • Even if this isn't true, it is still a fact.

  • @dermot51 doggone bluenoses! What are these nitwits; San Franciscans???

  • @dermot51 Well, the swedish government is pretty strange really...

  • @dermot51 Amusing when they do things like that. Heaven forbid that children would watch or read fiction! Totally contrived... unlike Willy Wonka ;)

  • @dermot51 Sweden they can talk with their perfectionist bullshit. Sweden is a make believe nation with super model blonde girls everywhere and blue eyed gym junks men walking around.

    That isn't reality.

  • @dermot51 no, they banned it because Skippy is a "bush" kangaroo, that means skippy is all about the p*ssy and the swedes don't like it man.

  • 0:23 Tony BONNER xDDDDDDDDDDdd btw.. This show is still goin in Lithuania

  • YA CANT BEAT ROO STEW !!!!

  • I really loved this show .Very heartwarming o watch skippy.

  • skippy, the buuu-uuush kangaroo'

  • Why did Britain and Australia make TV shows in colour in the 60's? The UK didn't get full colour TV until 1969 and Australia didn't have colour at all until 1976.

  • Tashkenfox: I'm going to tell you why, it was made in color so people in Mexico, Cuba, Spain, and all Latin America could see it in color. In Mexico they had color TV since 71,

  • That's true, but I doubt that the majority of Mexicans or Chileans had colour TV sets until the early 1980's. I've been told since my comment that they made Skippy in colour to make it easier to sell to Canada and the United States.

  • I was just thinking that myself. I know the British TV shows such as The Avengers, The Saint, The Baron etc were all filmed in colour specifically for the American TV market. It's definately the reason why The Avengers switched to colour in '66. Must've been the same reason for Skippy.

  • Maybe the secret of the Internet was very protected until now and they used to know about the re-runs....

  • skipinder the punjabi kangeroo is better

  • The odd thing is that more Australians know the words to Skippy than their National Anthem !

  • In real life, Skippy went on to become a delicious 'roo steak in a local restaurant.

    Mmmmmm 'roo steak...

  • Oh man wie Langweilig.

  • I heard they tied Skippy next to a burning building once during a shoot. burned his eyebrows. Skippy No.4 I think.

  • i saw this before. i wouldn't want a pet kangaroo because he might kick me :P

  • moi aussi lol

  • ok. they look so similar. this is a kagaroo and flipper a baby wale. ok

  • this is a skippy the kangaroo intro, not flipper ! I don't know where you saw the word flipper....

  • hahahahahahaha
