I loved those White Sox uniforms, nothing wrong with the pinstripes. The 80's was the decade of the uniforms. And now they traying to bring it back. Bluejays, Orioles, Mets all with throw backs. I love Baseball.
Does this bring back great memories! banners hung over the outfield wall ... fans rushing the field ... hotdog wrappers swirling in the wind ... Nancy Faust ... young Hawk, young Tony LaRussa young Jerry Reinsdorf ... Harold Baines, the Law Brothers, Juice Cruz, Commander Fisk, Kit Kat, LaMarr Hoyt, Britt Burns, Jerry Dotson, Jerry Koosman ...
Hard to believe this was the first major championship of any kind Chicago had won since the Bears of the early 1960s.
@FTC73 not me..........these are as ugly as the Houston Astros uni's of the day.....the black jerseys and shorts were unique..........the big collars..........and some great players like Chet Lemon and Jorge Orta on those late 70's White Sox teams..........I couldn't stand this 83 team since I'm an A's fan, and Baby Bull Luzinski along with Ron Kittle kicked are butt that year............and who the hell was Tony LaRussa in 83...glad us A's fans got revenge for 83 in 86 by stealing him away
a much better quality footage of this 9th inning exists at the museum of television in chicgo, illnois, and the best thing is, you can watch it online with much clearer video
1983 White Sox....greatest team ever that didn't play in the series.....at least in the LCS era. Lamarr Hoyt, what can I say? A mountain of a man who was unbeatable that year, especially in the 2nd half. I think he won his last dozen starts in a row.
When the Sox clinced the 83 west it was the first time a Chicago baseball team had been in the playoffs since the Go-Go Sox of 59' which was the first time a Chicago team won the pennant since the 1945 Cubs. Pretty sad that from 45-83 (38 years) only 3 playoff appearances from 2 teams. Oh Well
Hey pfloydman, thanks for posting this. The footage is amazingly clear and sharp, considering you said you've had it on tape for 26 years. Great memories. Thanks again.

Man, if some gangstas were wearing *these* Sox uniforms, I wouldn't even mind if they busted a cap in my ass.
