@annetekoul neither is this movie, but of course the novel is better! just this movie is pretty amazing. I noticed, when everyone else fails to adapt a book to film, Hallmark seems to be able to, with amazing results. check out their version of Frankenstein, almost word for word with the book, it had me crying!
@kirikakirikakirika he had 3 children I think, but that wasnt relevant to the story, this movie kept all the important parts, unlike other adaptations, I wouldn't nitpick like that.
This is the best version movie of the story. 1: it has all four parts. 2: the satire is perfectly executed. 3: the effects are great! 4: the way they tell the whole story through flashbacks making him seem crazy is genius! even Swift himself must be happy because it adds to the satire, using the insane asylum. they really did a good job making the story clear for younger audiences, the book gets very technical and political. and in 1725 writing it is gets confusing. more people need to see it!
@Princesscolex I am a Jack Black fan. love his kind of humor and love Tenacious D. But I Gulliver's Travels is without a doubt his lowest point ever. too damn stupid in my opinion. In any case I love this movie and I loved the book!
@dominican5683 it's not good....it's decent for the new twist on it, some humor, and an inspiring message....but it's absolutely nothing compared to this....it has absolutely NO feeling of adventure to it one bit, the thing i liked about this was that i felt sucked into it, it was as if i'm watching the odyssey....the new version is incredibly lame in that aspect, but it's good since it's not trying to be like the original, it's just extremely modern.
Notice how the little people are at war and how the giants have a government where there is no war or fighting? I think Jonathon Swift was partially writing social commentary. I also noticed a similarity in the two stories. He's discovered by someone who is of a very low stature who remains loyal to him the entire time.
@mysteryperson1976 Of course! they really tried to keep up the satire in this movie. which was a really good idea because it made it really good and was able to keep it to the story
@mysteryperson1976 Yes pretty exact! The tiny men and women are at war whereas the giants rule over other people and don't fight.Today it is similar.Nothing has changed!and the special effects are awesome!very good version.I love it with Mary Steenburgen who is lovely and Ted Danson who is just perfect for the role of Gullliver. He has the role in his skin and he's so convincing!very very GOOD.Thanks for the uploader.
@mysteryperson1976 Let us not forget: this is a movie adaptation of the satirical novel, not a video transcription. There are many differences between the book and the movie, not to say that the movie is without merit.
@mysteryperson1976 A fair part of the Lilliputin was a commentary on English politics at the time, with references to specific individuals or actions taken.
@mysteryperson1976 Gulliver's Travels was written by Swift because he wanted to satire human society, particularly that in his own country. The entire book (or film for that matter, though in the film it's a bit less apparent) was meant to question the (wrong) way we treat one another and have built up our social systems. So yeah, well spotted ;). It's what he wanted us to see.
Hallmark movies were awesome , I miss the Hallmark channel so much !

Didn't Gulliver have a daughter? I'm pretty sure it wasn't a son.

@dominican5683 The new version is more like Classic literature meets Power Rangers. It's probly fun if you're a kid.

@mysteryperson1976 Um......yeah, Swift's whole book was meant as a satire on English society at the time.
This is not news, as anyone who has either read the book or studied it in college can attest.
