Tameshigiri is disrespectful. They only used it when the blade was first made to test it. But other then that it's showing you do not have confidence in one's ability's. And no Tameshigiri is not part of Iaido. It can be used in it. But it is not part of the practice itself.
@coolL9457 Plenty of Iaido schools in London - I'm involved with several of them. They are mainly influenced by Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu (the style I practice) and Muso Shinden Ryu styles.

The way I understand things, Tameshigiri is different techniques but training is directed to cutting actual things (straw mats, for e.g.) rather than sparring with shinai or cuttting the air in kata-forms. Though I am far from an expert.
