The 'studio', or original version of this son id on the Yes debut album, 'Fragile'. Best album they ever put out, and the second piece of vinyl I ever bought (still have it!). J
I usually avoid live versions of this, because the song is so very overplayed.. That said, this version is the most spirited of the latterday versions.. I really wish Wakeman still used a real Hammond onstage. His digital keyboard sounds have been getting cheesier and cheesier as the years go by.
It's hard to find a keyboard thats more classical thats for something like YES, most keyboards now are used for that techno junk, I also wish John anderson would stop being so weird and actually do a tour with the rest of the band!
@umx48.. Well no. If anything Keyboards have been going "retro" now for quite a while. Wakeman even uses an Moog.. I have no idea what the deal is with Jon and the rest of the band. Benoit sounds just like him, but who knows if he can write?
I'd like to see Anderson return soon, because right now the band is just a tribute act.
Sorry. I'm a keyboard player and that statement is simply untrue. Nord, Korg and Roland all have great Hammond sounds with real drawbars and great leslie sounds, not to mention Hammond, with the XB, and XK series organ keyboards. Igor, and Oliver used them on their respective tours. And let's not forget about Tony Kaye and Geoff Downes, who toured with real Hammonds. That was just as much a part of the Yes sound as Moog and Mellotron, which have also been available as sound patches.
@umx48 Most keyboards are used for techno junk, but that's because of the programmers who use it. Maybe he's just not very good at programming. Don't blame the techno uprising for this persons inability to program. =/
i found this song out from school of rock. jack black tells lawrence to listen to it for homework. he tells him the keyboard solo will blow the classical music out his but. he was right.
@therealmilkcow - It's good because it's doctored up in the studio. "Extended Versions" is a not-band-authorised repackaging of their 1996 CD "Keys to Ascension", which I found out the hard way by buying both. When I bought "Keys" I was so blown away by how good "The Revealing" sounded live, especially since they hadn't played it so long. My bubble was busted pretty bad when I found out they rerecorded a lot of the "live" stuff in the studio.
you know the part at the satrt, right after the intro like when it's going into the begining of the song, it sounds like an acoustic; 0:32 - 0:37 ... i swear i've heard that in another song before. it sounds rly awsome tho.
Yeah, i swear i heard something exactly like it somewhere.. can't remember for the life of me what it was though. I think I heard it in Roundabout first however.
I got to see the Topographic Oceans tour way back there. Always a big fan, just live out of the way of big tours. And these days I won't pay the stiff on admissions. Yes indeed this sound quality is very clear and articulate. Which of course Yes is as well.
I love the audio quality, maybe you could make another with good video, even the same picture all the way through is better that a blank screen, kind of like listening to this on LP, you have to look at the cover art or look at a magazine...
yah sorry, Movie maker wasn't working for me that day (When i opend it, when i added a picture and tried to extend it, it crashed) and no Actual video exists from the concert.

@jake46464able Fragile was their fourth studio album, first with Wakeman though
I have to say I prefer Close to the Edge though - more consistent and admittedly I'm a sucker for side-long epics
