I hunt with a similar gun (Rem. 1100 12ga., cantilever barrel, Hornady 300 gn. SST Sabot) I only have shot a bear with it in 2005, and that took 3 shots to put it down with Winchester Partition Gold ammo. SOme animals especially boars, are just plain tough!

The hunter was a bigginer. I point at the pig and said watch him, get ready to shoot again, but he thought it was dead. So when it got up he thougth we would track it and find it. He was dead wrong. The pig lived, and we shot him a year later in another stand.

Yeah, we thought it was dead also. We hit it in the neck with a 3 inch 12 gauge magnum shotgunn and just stunned the hell out of it. The it just got up and ran away. We followed the blood trail for 2 hours then we lost it.
