Roman Catholic missionary schools are widespread in other countries even in Muslim countries.In Pakistan,christian schools have never been closed down and they are widespread.Many charge Muslim students regular tuition fee,while christian students study for free.They are allowed to put up crosses over the buildings.

Roman Catholic missionary schools are widespread in other countries even in Muslim countries.In Pakistan,christian schools have never been closed down and they are widespread.Many charge Muslim students regular tuition fee,while christian students study for free.They are allowed to put up crosses over the buildings.
No one has raised any objection to their discriminatory practices.

People can choose what to believe. Muslims that are angry and dissatisfied look at the verses in the koran that run parallel to their feeling... killing the infidels. They ignore the better passages. The kinder and more peaceful Muslims ignore the violent parts, and emphasize the bad stuff. It's the same in Christianity.
Religious people cherry-pick whatever they want to believe. The problem is that Islam doesn't decry violent fundamentalism, like Christians do. Muslims revere the fanatics.

It would be nice if the moderate members of religions who have given their holy texts new meaning with new, milder re-interpretations would be honest enough to admit that they have done so, instead of pretending that the literalists are misinterpreting the texts. No, they're reading them correctly - the texts just aren't nearly as ethical and humane as the modern revisionists would like. As long as they keep up this dishonest practice they block the only path to modernity that can work.

What concerns me is that they perpetuate the myth that religion is good by whitewashing everything bad religion has ever done (by pretending those who were doing bad things in religion were "getting it wrong" or "being too literal" and that finally, today, they have gotten it right.). They are trying to promote the myth that religion is perfectly safe as long as "you're doing it right".

I go to Al-risalah school and never in the five years i have been there have i encountered any form of extremism or terrorism. Also, the books shown in this programme are not used in the UK. Islam only teaches peace

faith-based education is not education. education is meant to prepare children for the real world. faith-based education is about turning those children into members of a particular subset of humanity, with a specific worldview, and children dont get educated about parts of reality that contradict that worldview.
so faith-based education is in most cases indoctrination. this is true not only for muslim faith based schools, but for all of them.

@Madzombie51 I called the religious fundies in government loonies. It doesn't matter if they are Aussies or not. However, after reading more on the political landscape in Australia, I now see that Family First has gotten a lot more media attention than they really deserve.
The Bible is no more benign than the Quran, if you study what is written. Both have their good parts and their bad parts, so I think it is strange to pick one side over the other. Most muslims in the west are good people too.
